I've been a patient here for a few years, and at first everything was great. I used to see Dr…read more Scarpero at the Nashville location and never had any issues getting an appointment with her. Since she retired, though, it's been really frustrating. Now I can only get appointments with a physician assistant. I recently tried to move my Friday appointment in May to something sooner, but no one answered the phone and my voicemail wasn't returned. I called again today, left another message, and finally got a callback. When I asked to see a doctor instead of the PA, I was told I have to see the PA first before I can even get scheduled with a doctor. I was also told the PA is only in the office Monday through Wednesday. Then when I asked how I somehow have a Friday appointment in May, I found out it's actually at the Franklin office--which no one mentioned when it was booked. On top of that, the online scheduling tool only shows PAs, not doctors, and the one I'm scheduled with doesn't even publish her schedule online in the booking tool. At this point, I'll be finding a different urologist. I just want to be able to schedule with a doctor without jumping through hoops or wasting extra time and money.

I was hopeful by how professional they look on their website that they would act professionally. I was under the impression they were gonna call and let me know. Not only that, but they were supposed to send for a 24 hour collection for me and when I called to follow up about it since I hadn't received the container, they referred me to call the LabCorp place to check on the status. When I called LabCorp, they said they didn't even have the referral or the order sent to them. Now I have to follow back up with Female Urology a third time when they didn't do their job in the first place. I have come to the conclusion that based on conversations, the staff just want to get off the phone with you. Hardly a way to run a business.

They were patient with my paperwork as the Veterans Administration isn't the easiest to work with. While in the patient room he encouraged that my wife listen in and ask question regarding IVF. He traversed our questions & worries all while being funny. Honestly, with issues that one may bring them to see a Urologist are often uncomfortable conversations, everyone made it "normal" that I was there in my young age for IVF. Thank Urology Associates for making it a pleasant visit. Dr. Calvert, your 2 nurses are well trained, professional and just NICE! It's hard to find that these days. I will continue to go through the process and update this thread every step of the way! Finding the location (I'm from East TN) was extremely easy and conveniently located next to a hotel, giant park and lots of restaurants; in case you bring your family.

First of all, when you go in there's like five windows to go to and only two of them are open, but... only one is where you go to pay. I went to the wrong window uh oh! I was met with such angst and felt like I shot the pope or something because the staff was so pissed off at me for going to the wrong window. Then.... You have to fill out this form on an iPad and the questions were... I just don't know what to say other than why do they need to know what gender my parents identify as? Then after being shaken up by that and also in pain I go into see who I like to call... Dr. Dude (Dr. Paul Knoll). So now I'm upset, stressed out, overstimulated and sweating bullets from the pain in my pelvis and beyond. I was dumb founded by the amount of advertisements for Viagra, and ads for Dr. Dude's webinar thing or whatever. Then... Dr. Dude comes in. Right off the bat he starts in with "drop your pants buddy" jokes which did the opposite of what I guess he thought would make an already uncomfortable situation better, just made it even more uncomfortable. I had a whole list of things I wanted to cover, and Dr. Dude wouldn't let me talk, thus establishing his "Doctor" status. He seemed particularly interested in my erectile distinction, and I found myself fighting to try and go over the other symptoms on my list which Dr. Dude by god was not gonna listen to because... ya know... he's the doctor. After grabbing my junk and making a few more jokes before telling me to cough, he told me to pull my pants back up and prescribed me Viagra. I then had to wait another 20 minutes looking at Dr. Dudes face all over the wall, medical models of the male reproductive system and lest we not forget... VIAGRA posters. Finally another doctor came in and I was taken to their little pharmacy in the lobby, where two more angry receptionists were talking about how fat a previous patient was, they told me to wait for yet another doctor to get my Dr. Dude prescribed VIAGRA. After sitting in the lobby, again for another 20 minutes, I noticed a few of the same people that were there when I came in earlier were now asleep in the lobby. Finally I realized how goofy this whole thing was and I left to celebrate my birthday. So all that to say I'm 80 bucks broker, more bitter towards the healthcare system, and no answers to my problems. Im sorry, but getting a boner is the least of my worries right now. Stay away from this place. Dr.Dude (Dr. Paul Knoll) is nothing but a Viagra salesman with what I assume is a fat doctors paycheck with an overworked and underpaid staff that would rather be at home living their lives.

According to Raven at the call center, she cannot take a message or let me speak to anyone other than her. It's like she's the queen of the urology department or something. I don't understand how their phone assistants say they aren't allowed to direct a call to a manager or clinical staff if you aren't a patient yet. She told me to set up an appointment and they can let me know at that appointment if they do the procedure or not. EVEN TELLING HER I WAS IN ANOTHER STATE she didn't care. This cannot be how Vanderbilt handles their patients - this is CRAZY Update 4-6-26: Got a call back from a team lead named Kat. kat says she asked the doctor if they perform that procedure or not - calls me back to say this: that they can only let me know if they do the procedure once I come in for an appointment and they review my medical records. WHAT? can nobody in this office understand it's a simple yes or no answer if they can accommodate a certain procedure?! Who wants to hop on a plane to come ask a question and at that pay out of pocket to do that! You've got to be kidding me that this is how they treat a patient at Vanderbilt. It would be like If I call a spa to see if they offer a certain type of massage and they reply well come on in and pay to be seen and ask and we will let you know when we see you. WHAT A JOKE.

I waited by my phone for a week. No one ever called. When I complained, I was told by Russ Kunick that no one would ever tell me that, and it is completely normal to not speak with the patient after a biopsy, He said it is the patients responsibility to contact them if they have any questions about the results. That is definitely not the way I want to be treated, and I will not return to Vanderbilt for any reason. I was later told by my oncologist that the results of the biopsy are invalid because it was too soon after ADT, and that any competent urologist would have known that. Now I have to repeat the biopsy just 3 moths later.
