If you're looking for something to do in Kentucky, I highly recommend making this place one of your stops. There is plenty of parking in the lot and the self-guided tour was pretty cool to see, if you're curious how the process works for getting milk from cows. The self-guided tour was only $4/person and we actually did run into one of the owners at the facility who explained to us the process of milking the cow. He was very friendly and did an amazing job explaining the entire process. I also liked that he went into further detail to talk about the personalities of the cows that we saw. I would also recommend wearing comfortable shoes because there is a bit of walking from where you park, to the facility where the tour is. The souvenirs here are also really cute, and I couldn't help but to pick out a mug and tshirt for myself. As far as the ice cream, it was probably one of the best scoops of ice cream I've ever had. They offer so many great classic flavors! I had rocky road, which is one of my favorites. It was so creamy and delicious. I didn't get to try the milk, but I would love to try it next time I come, which I honestly would go again just for at least the ice cream! This is a great place for families to go to if you're in the area visiting and you also want some ice cream. 10/10, would recommend!!! read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars for the ice cream and service, but I would give 4 stars for the food. My photo didn't keep but we ordered the double cheeseburger with potato soup and the pimento cheese with french fries and a small side of potato salad. The pimento cheese was good but not the best I've ever had. If they added shredded cheese and less mayonnaise, it would be perfect. But still good. The fries were nice and tasty. The soup was great! Tasted like a baked potato covered in sour cream and cheese. The burger was also good. For being from a small place, it's a good quality burger. It's not red Robin or anything but it's definitely good for the price. The ice cream though. Yes! We had a dairy barn we went to in Connecticut for fresh ice cream and this was just as good. It's nice and creamy and rich. I couldn't make up my mind between the butter pecan and the cookies and cream so the person scooping gave me a kiddie scoop of each to equal my 1 scoop. In town for an event and was told this place existed, so I thought like it definitely sounded like way more fun to do something local than fast food. Got the grilled ham and cheese, sode of fries, and a chocolate milk to go (cuz I had my dog with me, so couldn't eat in). Didn't do ice cream cuz its 95* out and I'm traveling, so it would have melted too quickly. The chocolate milk was good (whole milk, I would have loved skim, but they only had whole and I wanted to try it. .. it's a diary, after all!) The website makes this place to be a lot more than it is. The self guided tour was a disappointment, even if it just cost $4, by the time you pay for your group. You walk about three blocks down a gravel road to another area where the cows and the robot machine is at in a barn. You can't see anything but the cow's legs and udder and the one robot machine through a filthy window. Then you go upstairs and look out another filthy window that overlooks the cows out in an attached covered area with huge fan, a brush halfway down the area and I never saw any sprinklers or shower area. The website made it sound like this all took place in one room so we could see the cows with the brush and a cow walking in to get milked. The ice cream is better at Baskin Robbins as well. The playground was the best area if you have kids and it's free. We won't go back and won't recommend this place. The gift shop doesn't have anything interesting either unless you want products with Chaney;s written on them. Maybe I just expected too much after reading the website... read more

Super cool and easy to find location. Once inside the eclectic "barn" you will be greeted with a very cool gift shop and ice cream bar. The gentleman behind the ice cream counter was super friendly and helpful. He was in the process of making waffle cones, but was happy to fill our ice cream orders even though it was later on what I'm sure was a busy fall Saturday. Such a fun place for all ages! My husband and I enjoyed lunch and ice cream on a Saturday afternoon. My husband and I both ordered the pimento cheese sandwich on wheat bread. It comes with a bag of chips of your choice. Upon request, you may add a dill pickle free of charge. It was absolutely delicious! Definitely homemade! A southern classic. For dessert, my husband got the Big Red Ramble ice cream which is a white chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and red velvet cake pieces. I had peanut butter fudge swirl. We are visiting from out of town and wanted to go somewhere unique. We decided to eat dinner somewhere closer to our hotel, but I insisted on getting some ice cream. This was about a 20 minute drive but it was so worth it! The gift shop had several cute shirts, magnets, milk bottles, and homemade jams. I bought the elderberry and I can't wait to eat it! There were lots of flavors of ice cream with waffle cones and brownies available. The prices are cheap and the scoops are generous. The young guy helping us was so friendly! As dairy barns go, this one is good, especially for kids. That playground is amazing. I'm going to note though that regardless on the surface transmissibility of our current plague, as of the last time I went, they're not cleaning with any particular gusto, nor is any sort of mask wearing encouraged on the playgrounds that I saw. As you sit out back at a table watching your kids play on a playground you'll see a series of 2-4 year olds face plant into the gravel while coming off of the stairs. I'd recalled watching a lot of kids face plant the first time I was here but seeing this again made me wonder how many kids are going to faceplant in the driveway out back before one gets whacked by a worker's car. Seriously, sit at one of the tables, count the gravel face plants. The ice cream is tasty I'm told, the fries are perfect every time I've been. I mean perfect. The grilled cheese is just about superb but not quite. Still trying to figure out that one. The bread was perfect, perfectly grilled, cheese tasted good, just something not ... the ingredients didn't combine to form flavor Voltron. But pretty good. Our first time at Chaney's while spending the weekend in Bowling Green. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our food after ordering. I observed the kitchen and counter staff and everyone was going in different directions and there wasn't much organization. I waited at the counter for them to deliver my order. The two sandwich platters sat there for several minutes with the only thing needed was for someone to fill our soup bowls. I finally said something to the young man at the cash register and he went back into kitchen to fill our soup bowls. When we sat down eat, our potato soup was cold. I ate a couple of bites and decided to go speak with a manager after eating our deli sandwiches. She was apologetic when hearing of the cold soup and gave us two vouchers for one free scoop of their ice cream. The peanut butter fudge swirl was bland and my wife's cherry cordial was tasty. I can't recommend this restaurant based upon our experience. Upper management needs to better access their situation and correct many things. read more

Definitely wouldn't go back or recommend. I waited in line for over 20 minutes to order (understandable because they were very busy). I ordered 2 moo pies, which say they take 12-15 minutes to make. After 25 minutes of waiting, I went to inquire about our desserts. They had forgotten to set a timer, and they were burnt. At this time, they offered to remake or refund and told us it would be 12 minutes. We decided to remake. An additional 15 minutes later, my husband goes up and is told they will be a couple more minutes. At this point, they offer a coupon for free ice cream. My husband told them we weren't local and wouldn't use them. 5 more minutes go by... still not done. At this point, they refunded our money. Ultimately waited an additional 25 minutes for them to finally be finished and slightly overcooked. The ice cream on top was nothing special. My husband had cookie dough and said there were 2 chocolate chips and 1 piece of cookie dough. The chocolate toppings were also not correct, which wasn't a huge deal but definitely frustrating after waiting over an hour for this. read more

New to town and a resident of the neighborhood around Chaney's. Visited last night for the first time with high expectations. They were not met. Instead of a creamy high-butterfat product, it was a thick, gummy consistency. On top of the consistency issue, my wife I and both ordered a scoop of coconut and a scoop of coffee. Coconut had some coconut flavor, but the coffee had zero coffee flavor. Very disappointed. Frankly do not understand the 5-star Yelp rating. Slightly annoyed that their business hours do NOT state the time their kitchen opens, only when it closes. We came a couple Saturday's ago, and around 10:15AM went to the food area and the girl working the ice cream said the kitchen doesn't open until 11AM. I got to spend the great day of the total eclipse of the sun on this wonderful Dairy Farm. The place is amazing and is made for families, they have a nice playground, and tours of the milking facilities. On eclipse day they invited everyone from miles and miles around. People gathered here from as far as Indianapolis Indiana, Michigan, Columbus Ohio, and even some from Pittsburg Pennsylvania. They had so much wide open space for everyone to gather on a well mowed lawn, and parking for hundreds of cars to boot. It was like a festival... they asked for an optional $5.00 donation which we gladly gave. When they saw my disabled parking permit we were herded over to a special place where we parked near the Restaruant. Chaneys planned the event well... they had all the necessary portable (cough) outhouse facilities to handle the crowd and the most amazing thing of all they could have charged a mint for their ice-cream... but did not raise prices to anything and trudged along making food and ice cream for anyone who wanted it. Of course they closed just long enough for all their employees to experience the eclipse, then it was back to business. We found out that USA Today rated it the best ice cream in Kentucky and we have to agree it was some pretty darn good ice cream. Thank you Chaneys for making this day so special to us... and thank you for having such a great selection fo good ice cream. Your farm is so much more than a place to stop and have a bite to eat and dessert... it's an educational treasure. I hope to see many school kids come by and watch your milking robots. Highly recommend, this is a great day trip for any of my friends from Louisville. read more

We were driving on the expressway when we saw a sign for this dairy. Since we were in no hurry we decided to go there for an ice cream. The young people serving were every attentive and helpful they offered samples --all which were very tasty. I ended up choosing the black walnut ice cream sundae. My son laughed that that is an older person's flavor she just laughed trying to agree without saying anything. When you order a sundae you get as many toppings as you want. My son ordered a pumpkin ice cream cone while my husband ordered a praline and cream cup. We all agreed that the ice cream was very creamy and flavorful. read more

We brought 3 children 7, 8 and 9 if you've never visited a dairy farm this one is super cool. We enjoyed watching the cows come up and get milked. It was fun being able to see all the info about the cow, the kids enjoyed seeing all their names and how much they weighted. The food was delicious, I got a chicken wrap and the kids all got chicken nuggets. Of course we had to get ice cream. Kids that it was amazing that they were eating ice cream from the cows they had just seen. There is a small play area for the kids to burn some energy.
