    The street corn was delicious.
    Alan C.

I never knew about this place, until I recently saw an episode of "chopped" on the Food Network where the owner, Chando, , was competing. It was Cinco de Mayo, so I figured this would be a good place to try. Everybody was very friendly, and when I mentioned the show, they were like, "oh, yeah..." And we chatted about it for a few moments.... The food was right on! I had the Ensenada taco, which is breaded tilapia. The fish was delicious and had a nice portion. The veggies and sauce were very good. I also had the Mulita, which is kind of like a cross between a taco, and a quesadilla. Your meat, your filling, surrounded by melted cheese, and a tortilla. This wasn't just melted cheese, it was melted into a crust. I love crusty cheese. It was so good. The chicken was tender and the fillings were great. The biggest surprise for me was the Mexican street corn. Usually when I get the Elote, it comes in a cup. To my surprise, it was a huge corn cob on a stick. Being that it's street food, it actually makes sense. I just didn't think about it. The corn was tender, the cheese was salty and tangy, and the lime provided a nice pop of acid just to bring everything together. Food drink and tip, the price was very reasonable I want to come back. Thank you!

Delicious grilled chicken tacos!!! Tender, smokey, fall-apart delicious!!! However, they are closed for now, according to The Bee. (Went 7/23 and the sign said CLOSED)

    Cabeza taco $3.50+tax. Good!

It is nice that Chando's Tacos opened the Fair Oaks location this year. I once loved the original Chando's on Arden but orders took too long and the ambiance was no bueno. Anyhow, the locals don't have "adventurous taste buds", thus this Chando's doesn't order a lot of lengua, cabeza or buche. They were out of all except cabeza. Tragic. Lengua is my fav. Cabeza was very good. They receive meat orders on Monday so hit them up early in the week for your "exotic meat" cravings. Hit up Chando's on Tuesday. $11.99 gets 3 tacos, chips & pico de gallo, and soda. Or Wednesday for burrito with soda $10.99. Basically a soda for free. Other days have specials but they didn't appeal to me so I'm not sure what they were! Chips & salsa is something most taquerias should give you, but modern day inflation and high minimum wage, people be cutting corners. Better for the waistline anyway. I love the bountiful and spacious seating. Restroom, on the dining side in the back was spacious and clean, too. Staff was helpful, friendly and they got along well. The trash was full and I kindly let them know. A couple minutes later, it was emptied. Good things going on here.

Update - Since posting my original review the manager of all Chando's locations messaged me directly to get additional information on the situation. Most business simply post back and ask you to call them to further discuss. However, Chando's initiated the contact and expressed concern over the situation. They took it seriously and I am confident they will further investigate the matter. I can tell they take pride in the product and service that they offer. I will definitely visit this location again because one bad apple shouldn't ruin it for all of the other employees who do their job well!

Grilled fish street taco; 2 Birria street tacos

Nothing beats visiting Chandro's on Taco Tuesday. Got a grilled fish street taco and two Birria street tacos and I was in taco heaven. The new location is spacious and the food is good.

Asked for a combo with no drink included
    Mr. Happy ..

This place never fails. So haven't been to this establishment in awhile. So I come in and order their Quesabirria, 3 of them, gentleman behind the counter said, "would you like the combo?" I said sure it's what I always order. He calls my name and I approach, he hands me my "combo" I said where's the drink? He said the combo is the birria And consume, I said there's no drink with the combo? He said no... okay here's a picture of the menu when you order a "combo" noticed how this says pick a drink... it's required. At this point I feel like it's a loss, maybe this place is bad luck for me and I said no cilantro and you guessed it, they loaded it up ‍ I got a few messages about this post. Let me help clarify, if you click on the picture you'll see a price, it's says $16.69. Now I'm gonna post my card receipt and as you can see they charge the same way for a combo, some of you folks need to READ.

Tacos were delicious! Great special for their Anniversary! 3 tacos and a fountain drink for $6.00!

It took me a while to finally try this place, but the food is amazing and service is great. Huge portions and authentic taste. Get your birria tacos here!

Proof of what was listed on the order, because I'm sure they will edit/remove it from the menu after this.

Last time we were there I thought I was able to get just plain tortillas from the tortillas lady spot. But she looked confused then I asked for a few flour tortillas. She asked what meat I wanted to make street tacos. That's fine the pork tasted very good. But I like plain tortillas with the eggs and other dishes. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I guess next time we will ask the server. We started with the omelets this time. Very good and well made. We tried many things, hard to take pictures. The portions have been cut in 1/2 for a lot of menu items here over the last 5 years namely the chimichangas but seems like everything else too. The chimichangas used to be twice the size they are now and were loaded with cheese. Now they have no cheese and 1/2 the filling so there mostly flour tortilla now. Very disappointing and the plates they use now are smaller, they used to serve the food on these huge platters. Anyway went there last night (1st time in 3 years) and this is the plate I got. The 2 chimichangas are now the same size as the tamale on the other side of the plate. The service was terrible too. We did not get our food until almost an hour and by the time the food showed up we were full from the chips and bean dip and salsa wich by the way we had to wave them down several times as we seemed invisible to refill the chips and our drinks. We wont be going back again for probably another 3 years. I highly recommend Felipe's in Citrus heights on Auburn blvd. Way better value and the food quality is on par with el tapatio but with five star service!

We ate outside on the patio, which is beautiful and was much quieter. They started us off with chips, salsa, and a bean dip, which is fabulous. It was so good that was almost lunch itself. I ordered a Carnitas burrito. The flavor was good. I will say it had a different flavor than other Carnitas that I've had at different Mexican restaurants. I also had it wet so it was smothered with enchilada sauce. The enchilada sauce was also different as it was chunky. All very good. The burrito is quite large. I was able to take it home and got two more meals out of it. Unfortunately, our last three visits have been consistently disappointing, and we've decided we won't be returning. About a year ago, the manager (or possibly the owner) was always present. He was professional, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about both the customers and the quality of the business. Since we stopped seeing him, we've noticed a significant decline. We always order two Yucatán chicken salads. More often than not, the salads have had very little chicken. On one visit, the salad was completely drenched in an overpowering vinegar dressing, making it difficult to enjoy. More concerning, after each of our last three meals, both my husband and I became queasy within a few hours and experienced stomach issues that sent us running to the bathroom. After the third occurrence, we realized it was no longer a coincidence and made the difficult decision to stop eating here. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to restore the quality and consistency that made this place so enjoyable in the past.

The prices felt high for the quality and portions received. I ordered a carne asada burrito (rice, beans, meat, Pico, cheese) for $14.50. While the burrito was large, it was mostly rice and beans, and the carne asada itself was disappointing. The texture was closer to ground beef than the grilled steak flavor and consistency I was expecting. My husband ordered the three street taco plate with rice and beans for $16.50, choosing carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas. He had similar thoughts about the carne asada, and felt that both the al pastor and carnitas lacked seasoning and overall flavor. He also purchased a canned soda for $2.50, which added to what already felt like a pricey meal. I understand that restaurant costs have increased over the years, and I don't mind paying more when the food quality matches the price. However, between the lack of air conditioning, the mid food, and the overall value, we didn't feel the experience justified the cost. The service was friendly, which we appreciated, but with so many other local Mexican restaurants offering more flavorful food at similar price points, we don't see ourselves returning.
