Chandni Chowk is full of high-quality, fair trade textiles, hand made in India and Bangladesh using natural fibres. Alongside these are ornaments, trinkets, decorative wall hangings, greetings cards, and a small range of ethical silver and gemstone jewellery.
The designs aren't for everyone, but you'll get an idea of whether it's your cup of tea just by glancing at the window displays.
The textiles - using organic cotton, gleaming silks and other natural materials - include patterned scarves, tops, dresses, sarongs, shoulder bags, slippers, bed throws, rugs, cushion covers and other textiles. While the clothes are a bit too middle-aged for my liking, the global-style homeware range isn't - and I particularly love the silk cushion covers and soft Indian throws.
This is a lovely shop to pick up a unique present or something for your home, particularly if you like Indian-style designs. And while it's hardly cheap, at least you can shop here with a clear conscience knowing that those who crafted the items are being given a fair wage. read more
