I saw several playgrounds for young kids. Each of three campgrounds had their own wash house. The one, near my campsite, was really nice! The campground was well maintained and clean. They allow pets but please note most sites don't have RV hookups. Price after fees was $36.25/night.

My boys walked for the longest time and even when they started to swim, they could still stand if they wanted. Warm, too. Not the softest sand, but the way out into the lake isn't too bad. The way back, it feels a little more prickly. Guess the rocks face away from the beach. Plenty of parking, seating and shade.

My dog and I came here for a walk today (Memorial Day) and the place was almost empty! It's not a huge park, but it's clean and well maintained. There's a small boat launch / marina area, plenty of walkable beach, a playground, picnic tables sporadically placed throughout the park, a pavilion, and restrooms. There's a nicely sized parking area as well. Also, since it's a NYS Park, it's part of the Empire Pass program... so with one of the passes, you'll get in at no additional cost (otherwise, it's $7 per car). TL;DR I'd recommend this park, but honestly... I want it all to myself. So stay out. ;-)

Renter beware! We stayed here last year and loved it and this year was a completely different…read morestory. This year we rented both cottages. The day we were to arrive we were told not all beds were made up, linens were supposed to be provided as per the contract. We also found out the beach area we enjoyed last year was off limits, the beach access was actually on the other side that they owned and to access it you have to duck under a low hanging willow tree and it's muddy. I text them when I found this out and asked them to call me and got ignored. The week was fine and after we left we got an email about 3 days later completely nit picking everything about our stay. They ended up charging us $300 for going over the number of renters allowed. Contract states north cottage 6, south cottage 8. We had 5 in north and 7 in south, 12 TOTAL, 4 of which were small children. They claim he made me a deal because of the number of renters. I rented both cottages for the purpose of having extended family. Tried calling and texting and again got ignored. His wife emailed but wanted to talk to him because I set this rental up with him not her. We were also charged for a board on the dock because the boat I rented pulled out a screw on the mooring whip. There was a charge to clean the grill down below because there was grease and they claimed it took a half hour to clean. Cleaning charge for south cottage. I feel like we went over both cottages pretty well and the place was ready to rent. We cleaned, wiped everything down and are pretty fussy ourselves. Would not go back.

Boating, camping, bbq grills, fishing, trails, Bald Eagles, Osprey, all manner of other wildlife (inc black bears so mind your food when camping) playgrounds and swimming for the kiddies... People live across the road from the lake but because it's federal land there are no cottages /homes right on the water. Scenery in the Cowanesque valley is beautiful. What more do you want?

Even after growing up not…read moretoo far away - and having driven by numerous times while going back and forth to RIT for school - I only recently visited this park for the first time. It's smaller, but lovely and very clean. Plenty of parking for folks just visiting the beach area, using the picnic tables, and so on, as well as plenty of space for folks coming in with boats. Easy access to Cayuga Lake via the little marina area, and even includes a rentable cottage with plenty of amenities. Even includes a couple miles of hiking trails, though my pup much preferred hanging out in the water and wandering along the beach area. :) All in all, another very nice NYS Park option available. I love having another spot to put my Empire Pass to good use!
