Sadly our experience post covid was not good. Employee at front desk upon entering was nice and informative as well as the bus girl for our table. You seat yourself, drinks are self serve as well as utensils and gloves are available if you prefer to use them when serving yourself food. Lunch is 11.99 and dinner with seafood is 14.99. The food is very dry, chewy and overcooked. Food options are still pretty much the same, except the sushi is very minimal and mainly filled with imitation crab. Sadly we were disappointed but hopeful they will improve over time and might be back for another try for dinner but it may be unlikely as I would hate to waste money on non quality food. read more

My mom and I door dashed this restaurant and wanted so bad to enjoy it. Especially since we spent almost $50.00, I ordered the combo plate I had the chicken teriyaki, salt pepper shrimp and half and half on the sides. My mom had the beef teriyaki plate and we shared the double California rolls. The rolls were the only thing we did enjoy but both of the meals were flavorless, LIKE NO FLAVOR. Also the vegetables on my mom's plate were very hard like non-cooked hard. It's hard to find bad Asian food but maybe its due to Covid will try again at a much later date. So I left a bad review before due to half the buffet being closed almost an hour before closing(grill and sushi) when I had payed full price. Was very disappointed by this and it showed a lack of professionalism. That said I ended up giving them a second chance after the owner took the time to message me on here and explain what had happened and why it happened. I'm glad I did. I went back for a lunch had a great experience. I then decided to go to dinner there a few weeks later. This place redeemed itself to me and I was very happy with it. You can't beat all you can eat Korean cut ribs, seasoned properly, and grilled fresh right in front of you. I'll always do my best to update reviews when a place redeems itself, especially when the owner takes his time to address me and personally address the issue. My husband and I went there. Good food, large selection. They have made to order food (noodle with variety of meat, dessert crepes, and Korean bbq short ribs). Lots of delicious food. There are some bad ones that didnt taste good (mussels, fries, chicken wings...) but lots of good choices (crabs, sushi, korean bbq...) to choose from. The servers are super nice, attentive, and quick to clear our tables of any used plates. The people working at crepe, sushi, and grill station are very fast as well. The place and even restroom are clean, haven't seen any dirty areas yet. The buffet area food are replaced quickly so everything was full to the brim. We will return. read more

My friends and I were pretty excited to try this place out. We had high expectations from what we had heard. However, when we we started to eat our food it was not good. Some of the food was cold and salty and while we were eating our food, the environment was REALLY HOT! We could only take a bite out of each food item because it was so nasty (respectfully) we had to have a separate plate to put the food we didn't like aside (which was almost all of it). When we got to the dessert we were pretty excited, only for disappointment to hit again. I was pretty excited for the fruit but the melons tasted like bland sea water. The only thing decent was the tiny orange cake slices. I have to literally ask God for forgiveness for wasting so much food cause it was so nasty. I've had Crab Rangoon before many times and this one was gross. The wonton wasn't even crunchy, it was hard and so was the stuffing. The fried rice was also hard, chow mein was an orange color. This Buffet is the replacement of the previous Hibachi Grill. Although the entire interior has been renovated, the food is of less quality. As usual, if you like chicken, you're in heaven. This is a bad place to come the workers do not wear any hair nets or gloves, one of the workers was on her phone thinking no one was looking then after she did not wash her hands and she touched the jelly with her bear hands. Today three friends and I ate at this restaurant. We used to come to the Hibachi Grill on occasion, and we came to this one because it had re-opened. The food was good, until the incredibly loud music started. I'm not speaking of the "Happy Birthday" song that played a few times. I can understand that. However, the music control is at the cash register (where two of us went separately to complain) and the woman there said she'd turn it down. It started right up again, and it was so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves talking to each other. I said I was going to speak with the manager, and one of the employees said the man standing nearby was the manager, so I spoke to him. His solution to the loud music? We should move to another section of the restaurant. The music was piped in loudly everywhere! When I resisted this suggestion, he said some people like it and some don't, so basically I could live with it. For a manager, he was quite rude. This will be our last visit to the restaurant. There are other places to eat in Merced. I hate being treated like this by a supposed manager, or any staff member. This restaurant is noisy anyway, due to all the families.
