New and clean and fancy. Chai was the only good thing. It was spicy and flavourful. Decor is very cool and modern work some photography Food was awful. Pulled from a freezer. Aloo parantha - flat, a bit raw and too oily Samosas- how can you go wrong ?? But you did. Greasy ball and that's it. Gulab jamun cheesecake - was ok. Wanted more Indian flavours, more pistachio and more gulab jamun

Chaiwala, a haven for enthusiasts seeking an authentic Desi Chai experience, has truly captivated my taste buds. In my recent visit, I ventured into a delightful journey of flavors by trying their Cotton Candy Pop, Karak Chai, Butter Chicken Roll, and Cone Fries. The taste, without a doubt, was exceptional, living up to the promise of genuine Desi flavors. The star of the show, the Karak Chai, was a testament to the authenticity Chaiwala strives to achieve. The robust blend of spices and tea leaves created a perfect harmony, delivering a cup of chai that transported me to the bustling streets of South Asia. The Cotton Candy Pop, a whimsical creation, added a playful touch to the experience. The burst of sugary sweetness combined with the subtle notes of chai was a delightful surprise. Moving on to the savories, the Butter Chicken Roll showcased the restaurant's commitment to authenticity. While the taste was impeccable, I found the size a tad bit small. The flavors, however, compensated for the size, offering a mouthwatering experience with each bite. The Cone Fries, served in a charming package, were a visual treat. Yet, I couldn't help but wish for a more generous portion. The fries, though flavorful, left me longing for a bit more to savor. Reflecting on the overall cost, the taste undeniably justified the price. Chaiwala maintains a balance between quality and affordability, making it a reasonable choice for those seeking an authentic culinary experience. However, a slight increase in portion sizes could enhance the overall value for customers. The ambiance at Chaiwala deserves a special mention. The vibrant and culturally rich decor immerses patrons in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The fusion of traditional elements with a contemporary twist creates an aesthetic that enhances the dining experience. The warm hues, coupled with unique decor pieces, contribute to the overall charm of the place. In conclusion, despite my minor qualms about portion sizes, I wholeheartedly recommend Chaiwala to friends and fellow food enthusiasts. The impeccable taste, coupled with the inviting ambiance, makes it a standout destination for those seeking an authentic Desi Chai experience. While Chaiwala continues to excel in delivering delightful flavors, a subtle tweak in portion sizes could elevate the overall dining experience to new heights.

Walked in on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised at how busy it was. There were so many families sitting around the large establishment. I really enjoyed the ambiance, chatters everywhere. It felt like desi folks (especially the elderly & families) have found a place to gather to enjoy chai. The line up was long but moved along quicker. We got a few kashmiri chai & sugar free Karak chai. As a chai connoisseur, I knew to order a sugar free karak chai as their regular is very sweet. Unfortunately, that was a disappointment. It was very bitter, no amount of sugar could salvage the chai. We had either been served chai from the bottom of the pail or it has been brewed for a long time. Nonetheless, that karak chai was not enjoyable. The Kashmiri chai (pink), this was not bad, there were pieces of nuts in it.

Finally a good place for chai! I was waiting for something like this. What's unique about it is their menu. They have something called dirty chai. It's a combination of chai and coffee. It was so good. I don't know if you guys relate, but with chai you have to have a cake on the side. I got the chai cake, and that with dirty chai was the perfect combination you can have after a dinner. Next time I won't do a take out because their ambience was actually good and cosy.

Came here to get some breakfast and chai. The chai was amazing. Strong tea flavor and creamy from the milk. I got the masala omelet with parathas. The portion looks small but it was packed with flavor so I was full by the end. Would come back to try other items or to just get a chai. Great space wt lots of tables. Service was quick.

The menu seemed pretty good but our experience today left a lot to be desired. We tried kadak chai and kadak iced coffee and neither of them were kadak. The coffee was very weak and watered down. The chai had too much milk in it and was very weak as well. Our friends who visited with us today mentioned that the chai normally is good there, but it was exceptionally bad today. We'll have to visit them next time to try some snacks. Hope it'll prompt us to update our review.

It is winter so it should be assumed we have coats. There were no coat hooks or coat check....surprising for such a beautiful and upscale place. The coats crowded our seats. They were kind enough to accommodate my need for water with meals by leaving a kettle with water for me. They do not leave jugs but our server, Snow, replenished the water for others regularly.. she was friendly, helpful and funny. Since I need vegan and gluten free the only items I could have were the salad without feta, yellow dal without ghee and plain rice. The fam loved the Afghan chicken tikka and paneer item they ordered. My dal was made without ghee as requested but was on the spicy side. The fam shared the chocolate cake and rabri desserts but zero vegan/gluten free dessert items. The decor is lovely and everyone was very professional. The meal was very expensive....well over $400 for 1 alcohol drink, 2 mocktails, 3 apps, 3 mains with 2 rice, 2naan and 1 parantha and 2 desserts. Hopefully you get Snow as your server as she was a delight. There was no DJs or live entertainment the night we went but they do have it on certain nights. It got very busy while we were there with folks of all ages. You can bring your own cake but they charge $5pp to serve it.

We picked up some vegan chole, vegan eggplant, samosa, and vegan parathas, and tandoori rotis. The Chole and eggplant curries were very disappointing. Especially Chole - it tasted as it was made a novice and not a chef. Chole is such a Punjabi dish, that one is rarely disappointed. The eggplant curry was equally disappointing. It didn't taste as it came from a Punjabi restaurant. The spice level and even seasonings were completely off. The samosas were OK and so was the tandoori rotis. The Aloo Parathas again disappointing. Wondering how can one go wrong in making Parathas? Potatoes stuffed in between two bigger tawa rotis. That's how it tasted. We are not sure we are going back to this location ever again.

During our stay, we noticed individuals coming in and out for take-out therefore, the kitchen was kept busy with varying orders. The restaurant itself was large, and as we were told, a bar and event space was being built in the back for larger groups. Upon entering, we were greeted by a kind server, whom showed us to a table of our choosing. Since we were the only diners in the restaurant, we chose to sit in a large booth, which accommodated all four of us nicely. As we entered the restaurant, we noticed how beautiful the decor was, and how nice it smelled! Two very important points that we were blown away by. Upon sitting in the booth, we settled on two orders of butter chicken with plain naan and rice. We also decided on a thali, which had lentils, butter chicken, paneer with butter chicken sauce, yogurt, rice with vegetables, and gulab jamun for dessert. We only had to wait about 12 minutes for our food to arrive, at which point, we were starving, and looking forward to eating. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything tasted. The portion sizes were large, and very well-portioned for each item. We also liked how the naan was included with the thali, and how generous the server was in providing extra water at all times. Our server came over to check on us as we were dining, commenting positively on the type of food that we had chosen. Considering how spacious the restaurant was, along with the inviting ambiance, top-notch service, and appetizing food, we were surprised to see it so quiet. Please fill this restaurant to capacity, as it is beyond amazing, and deserves to be given a chance! Will definitely come back when I'm in the area!

The reason behind the large menu is related to the aim of the restaurant, which is to showcase the various regional cuisines of India. As a result, don't expect the straightforward menu of: apps, entrees, deserts, etc... rather the menu is divided by cuisine. Aside from honouring tradition, they do offer a couple 'new' takes on some items. If you comb through a few reviews, and certainly the pics, you'll notice a must-order items is the roasted eggplant with pomegranate. It really is like nothing else I've had before and unforgettable in both taste and texture. My group also went with a famous lamb dish as well. I don't remember the name offhand, but it is incredibly soft, well seasoned and nicely spiced dish. We also went with orders of naan, veggie dishes and meat skewers. It's beautifully decorated inside and also has the advantage of being located in a heritage building in what was formerly an estate home nearly 150 years old. It's truly a unique place and one people living in the area can be proud and of showcase to visitors.
