Although an inveterate coffee addict, I was thinking how great it would be to find a cozy, convivial, charmingly welcoming tea room for a midday pick-me-up. Five minutes later, the Vermont Tea House sign flashed in front of me -- I screeched to a halt, turned into their parking--and am I ever glad I did. THIS PLACE is what a tea room should be. Proprietor Laura--who owns/operates in lieu of university ("This IS my college!") is charming and hospitable, and together with sidekick Skylar is always busily bustling back and forth between kitchen and numerous, cheerily-decorated tables filled with both locals and visitors. There is a substantial afternoon tea ($30 pp) with 5 courses and your choice of the nearly 40 teas served here. I wasn't that hungry, so opted for two apricot-walnut scones (Moist--and best I've ever had!) which were accompanied by clotted cream, lemon curd, and homemade jelly). The accompanying Darjeeling tea was premium and delicious (I also considered a rooibois, a Scottish breakfast tea, and an herbal). My total was $7 plus tip. EVERYTHING was perfect. The best kudos I can give is that I'll be back here every year during my Vermont autumn trek. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Laura, you're awesome--keep up the spectacular work
