This was my first visit with this vet as they were the only one I could find that would treat and see mini pigs . This vet is a 40 minute drive one way and is definitely worth the drive. The office staff is very friendly and made the setting up an appointment easy. They answered all questions before hand. Dr. Lukas was amazing with us and our pet pig. Staff was friendly and saved my dogs life. He needed to get a bladder stone removed the doctor was so good explaining the why behind his plan. Our dog has been doing great since his surgery! I will never step foot in this place again. They gave my dog the wrong prescription and it was four times stronger than what she took and would have killed her. Had I not checked the numbers on the pills just to be safe.. The receptionist who filled the prescription said "I'm sorry you can come pick up the right prescription";because yes that's so handy to drive another 30 minutes out there and back just to go get a prescription that they messed up on. That's the apology I get for something that would've killed my dog had a given it to her.. Do better.. read more

Sorry so Long. Let me first start by saying that the front office at the clinic is the worst at communicating with it patients and then expecting them not to get upset and vocal. First, they scheduled a spay appointment for my dog and only tell me to have her not eat or drink after midnight. That's all they told me nothing else. Then when I arrive that morning ask me for vaccination records when I am dropping her off, of course I carry those with me (UGH !!) (Yeah Right who does) Then I tell them that I purchased them at tractor supply and gave them to her myself, but they had already given her the rabies shot and have seen her previously a few times. (Short background on this fur baby she was a stray and was in pretty bad shape, and starved when we found her. Later after taking her to Chachere Vet found out she was pregnant due any day and heart worm positive. She had her puppies that following sunday and has completed the slow kill on the heart worm a little over a month ago and I was bringing her in to do the responsible thing and fix her) Then they let me leave her at the office and tell me to take pictures of the vaccines and email them which should be good. Then they call me 10 minutes after the email tell me to pay for more vaccines (Which I have spent several hundreds of dollars already for her) or come and get her. I am over 35 minutes away. I am livid at this point because they are not communicating any correct information. The previous day I had one of her puppies that are now 5 months old sliced his skin to the muscle and have to have emergency surgery to repair. I was supposed to have an appointment today (Friday) at 2 pm to remove the drain tube but they have canceled and refused to remove it and refuse me service for at least this. That is awful in itself to leave an animal in the lurch like that and to not even complete what they have started. I have been going to Chachere's for sometime with my cattle and chose to bring my other fur babies there as well. So lets go back a little more than a year with my 11 pound poodle. He had dental surgery there and has been coughing ever since when I expressed that the other day they had no concern about it. Now let's go to my cow I brought in with a vaginal prolapse and she was due to calve any day. They preceded to tell me she did not have a calf and was early bred yet she was as big as a house and her utters were full!!! Well she calves 5 days later with a live calf through a 4 inch hole that they left so she could urinate. This tore her up and the tissue was black. Now tell me that I have no reason to be upset when the vaccination records where the last draw. Now they are refusing to pull the drain on my puppy after his surgery they preformed. Sorry this is long but I felt everyone should know how they treated me. I am beside myself that they won't check on their own work and pull the drain on my puppy that they started. Just wow. This is an amazing vet clinic! Dr. Chachere sees all 3 of our large dogs. We've been so happy with the care we receive there. I wouldn't take our dogs to anyone else. So disappointed. Have used this vet for 5 years. I take my older dogs in to have their teeth cleaned on a Friday. Everything is fine that day. The next weekend my wolfhound comes down with classic kennel cough. Have to go to emergency vet and she'll out big $$$. Call in the next day and they deny any dogs with kennel cough. Couldn't possibly be that. It must have been the intubation tube. So I say ok. He gets better. One week later my new puppy comes down with kennel cough. They don't bother to work her in. Say they are full. They can see me next week. There doctors are full only so much they can do in a day. Beware!!!! I'm changing vets. read more

Showed up with a puppy that wasn't doing well, as an employee was at the door closing up. Seeing the puppy's almost lifeless body.. Instead of having a heart he turned us away. As a small town vet I expected more. After visiting another vet discovered he had a sugar issue. Have not returned since. read more

I switched to this Chachere Vet Clinic after a less than stellar experience with another local vet, and I'm so glad that I did! Dr. Luke has done a wonderful job with my pups, and has taken the time to explain things to me in detail, giving me options. Their prices are very reasonable, they charged less than half the price quoted to me by my old vet for a surgery to my elderly cocker spaniel, and still gave her great care. She is now thriving! Their facility is very clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and overall I could not be happier with the service we have received. I had a great experience here, everyone was very friendly, the wait was 5 minutes before I was back in a room. They go by appointments and I like that. I had 5 ingrown nails on my cat removed, an antibiotic shot, a pain shot, and flea medicine all for $140, so the prices are unbeatable. Last Thurs. I my goat in, and Dr. Lucas saw her. This recounts what I asked of him, but he didn't do, and instead offered to put her down, but I took her home, did the remedy and she is alive today. Pls. take to heart for future goat patients. I told him I thought it was bloat, since she had all those signs, and asked him to help with certain things (relieve pressure: by tubing, or cutting her rumen, giving a CD and T shot...) He tubed, found liquid (from her stomach and not the expected gas), heard her sloshing sound in her stomach, did an ultra sound and said she probably had ruptured her bladder perhaps due to a kidney stone ... He said he could do nothing, but that I could take her to A&M for surgery. He hinted that I should otherwise have her put down right then. Since she was in pain and had little chance of survival. I told him I would let my husband see her. My husband, in our last ditch effort to save her, stabbed her in the rumen with a 60 ml syringe, releasing alot of gas. She was instantly better, and that began her recovery, since later that night she bloated again and needed another cut. We also gave and enema (with garden hose) and probiotics, antibiotics, antiinflammatory, electorlites, topical antiseptic... She is my prized doe, and I am so glad to have her still. I hope others with goats who come to Dr. Lucas will be able to keep theirs, too. read more
