Love this place! Knowledgable staff, loads of variety for pets, extensive clothing and footwear for men & women, and prices are reasonable. My favorite feature, though, is the discount second floor. I will be writing two reviews - one for grooming and one for customer service. I went to pay for my grooming and very nicely I asked if they had change for $100 to pay my bill. Courtney, the employee at the register, was very rude and said no. She gave me attitude about the entire incident, I asked her to please not treat me this way. Susan, the Manager, at the register ignored everything that was being discussed until she was done ringing up my payment. I will say it was a small purchase and I excepted they couldn't take the $100. I have been a long term customer for years and I only ask to be treated with kindness and respectful. Courtney opened the register and there was a $50 bill - I said you could have given me change. Courtney said I could not - I have other customers that will need the change. I looked at Susan (her boss) and said I deserved to be treated better than this. As I was leaving, Susan apologized but did nothing about it - told me she will talk with Courney. I have never been talked to in that tone of voice by anyone at Chaar before - if it wasn't for Kelli's excellent grooming I would not be back. Yelp will not allow me to leave a second review - Kelli is a 5 star groomer and person!!! read more

I had been eyeing up a pair of western boots for a while now. I was traveling up to Bethlehem for a day and happened to see a billboard for this place along route 22. I decided to stop and see if they had the pair I wanted. The staff here was able to locate the boots. This store had them priced $10 higher than Boot Barn plus I had a 15% off coupon for an online purchase. Not only did Chaars match the price of Boot Barn's website but they also matched the 15% off coupon. Kudos for great customer service!! read more

Kelli has groomed all 3 of my dogs since they were pups. I followed her wherever she was. She has always made my boys and little girl look and smell amazing! She is truly professional and very friendly. I have recommended her to everyone I know. I will continue to go to Kelli for as long as I have dogs!! read more

The customer service was just horrendous and on top of that I paid a very high amount for a pair of shoes that fell apart! I couldn't believe it. I also asked a younger man named AJ about proper caring and did what was told. Either the care was wrong or the merchandise isn't as good as they portrayed. I asked for a refund or credit to get other things and was told no by both AJ and another older man named Tony. I am told they are the owners of this company. I can not believe they are still in business if this is how they treat very high paying customers. I was considering bringing my pup for grooming but after this experience I would never! How can I trust to leave my dog somewhere that can't even treat a human with respect? How am I going to know they treated my dog with any respect? I will never come back nor will I ever recommend this to anyone. read more

I took my three year old yorkie mix to be groomed - while the lady was very nice and good with my dog, I was upset to find, when I got home, that he had blood on his neck from being shaved too closely....it obviously had to have hurt him, but she didn't mention anything about it. Also, the cut was uneven and choppy. I could almost overlook it, if she had mentioned it, but she obviously was trying to hide the fact that she hurt him. Never again. read more

I was very satisfied with Chaar until this morning. I never thought I would be so compelled to write a bad review. I originally started shopping at Chaar on Airport road because AJ went above and beyond to help me select the best dog food. I felt that I could justify the price because it was essentially a full service retail shop. The service was outstanding, the products were great, and it seemed that the associates truly cared. It's also important to me to shop local and support small family business' in the area. I was excited to learn of the new Saucon Valley location. My first experience there was standard. The young man helped me with my selection, checked me out, and offered to carry the bag of dog food to my car. I had spoken highly of Chaar, so my dad purchased a new tie-out for my dog at the Saucon Valley location. It broke after only 14 days of use. My dad didn't have the receipt handy, but I said they have great customer service and record all the transactions. In fact, my dad had them ring up the tie-out under my name for tracking purposes. We entered the store and there were three young associates standing at the counter talking. I explained we purchased the tie-out recently and it broke. When I asked if they could replace it, there was no apology or concern. She asked if I had a receipt and we said we might, but couldn't find right now. I have been there and they have looked up prior transactions no problem. However, when it came to looking information up for return purposes, they would not go to any trouble to help me resolve the situation. After my dad and I stood there and essentially had to beg, they finally looked up the transaction. It was exactly two weeks ago. She said it didn't matter because I didn't have a receipt and that's their policy. She was young and clearly did not understand the business aspect of customer satisfaction. My family has a small business as well. In fact, we use the same retail software Chaar does. I know how easy it is to reprint a receipt in a matter of 3 clicks. I also know that if you send the product back as a retailer to the vendor directly, they will credit you. When there is a defect or quality issue and you call the manufacturer, they ask you go through your local retailer. All I heard today were excuses. They did not stand behind their product. It was such a simple resolution that was made to be so complicated. I did not appreciate the lack of concern. Unfortunately I will no longer support Chaar. My entire family started shopping there because I spoke so highly of it. Today, I went there to simply get a replacement tie-out, buy a dog bed, and more dog food. I would've spent well over $150.00. Considering the store was empty with three associates standing around, I would've thought they wanted the business especially being a new business. read more

This review is based upon an experience at the Bethlehem, Route 378 Chaar location. We have taken our large breed dog to Chaar for grooming several times and were always pleased. Recently, however, we had a very disappointing experience. Our dog typically takes at least 2 hours for the full shampoo and cut process. This groomer told us it would take 2-3 hours and then called us to come pick him up after 1 hour fifteen minutes. (Incidentally, she called us an hour before his appointment to see if we could bring him in early as she had finished the previous customer early. We did take him in early.) When he arrived home, we noticed him shaking his head and favoring his backside. Initially we thought he was just acting weird after having been groomed - typical behavior. I did notice that the head shaking was continuing and that his ears were very red inside. I also checked his backside and there were abrasions around his bottom and on the underside of his tail. After consulting with the veterinarian, I am now treating him with drops for an ear infection and for sores on his bottom with an oral antibiotic and topical powder from the constant licking of the abrasions. When I called Chaar to speak to a manager to express my concerns, the "manager on duty", as she called herself, never asked my name but did apologize and admitted that this particular groomer sometimes finishes quickly. She then said "I'm not sure what you're looking for from me." I assured her I was looking for nothing more than for her to let this groomer know that in her rush to complete our dog's grooming, she injured him. I write this review not to trash Chaar - they have great products and some wonderful groomers. I only write this with the hope that other dogs don't get hurt. read more
