The employees who have served us were all helpful, friendly, and well-mannered. One experience was when I couldn't see what ingredients were in the containers. Walked in, greeted by the server, she was very nice and recommended a few dishes. So far so good. One star for her. Here's where it went wrong. I'm thinking okay, lunch price was fairly decent so I ordered the lunch portion as I don't eat that much. Boy was I wrong. It was less than a cup of rice that was soaked in gravy sauce that was overly sweet. It was probably less than a cup of riced cooked. Wow, shock that you would charge $12 for that bowl. Not what I expected from a clay pot rice. My husband ordered the Pho and he said it was alright but one piece of mint is ridiculous and it was $20. Zero star for the food. The only reason I gave it another star is because of the music. We heard some Cambodian music. Not what I would hear in a Vietnamese restaurant but I'll take it since we're Chinese/Cambodian American. Would I return, most likely not.

It hurts to write this because they used to really care about locals and now just seems to have…read morebecome very greedy and trying to take advantage of tourists with Magnolia across the street. Their muffins used to be large, moist, and reasonably priced. Now, they are over $6, tiny, tough, and just not good, despite having a decent amount of blueberries, which is awful when I used to LOVE the others. What's worse is that none of the prices were posted, and likely because it would be offensive to charge. Not even Chip and Jo charge that much at a tourist spot and theirs are much bigger. For $13, my specialty latte cost less than a very small muffin, which the guy at the counter (who didn't offer to heat it or anything) tried to explain were that much because they come from a bakery like they didn't always. His tone was condescending, which was off putting when most people would find this change to be insulting to long time customers who expect more from a local place. It's no wonder they were so empty when it used to be packed. Overcharging for this and trying to explain it as a "small business" upcharge is disrespectful to locals and tourists. Plenty of local places have great goods like Street Dog (their muffins are AWESOME and fairly priced). Even Magnolia has products with price tags that are worth the money and service that does not talk down to people when noticing a significant change. I bought it feeling used and never going back. Rather go to a place with no baked goods than one that has lost its way.

Under new ownership. Use to be Luna Juice Bar…read more I came into this café not knowing what to expect. Honestly, I braced myself for subpar, overpriced "health food." What I found instead was something completely different, a thoughtfully crafted menu built with a love not only for fresh, local ingredients but also for the kind of creative flavor combinations that make you want to savor every bite. I ordered the tacos, and they were outstanding, super filling, bright, and fresh. The green salsa deserves special mention: full of flavor, balanced, and not too spicy, the kind of condiment you want on everything. On the side, I had a pour-over coffee served at the perfect temperature, smooth and complex enough that it didn't need sugar or cream. It arrived on a beautiful serving dish alongside a crumbly, moist slice of coffee cake that felt just right with the atmosphere. Speaking of the atmosphere: it's warm, cozy, and intentional. Soft folk music plays gently in the background while tons of natural light pour in from large windows. Each table has fresh-cut flowers, the space is impeccably clean, and natural materials give it a grounded, organic feel. The dining area is small and intimate, wonderful for now, but I could see them needing to expand if word gets out. It's a family friendly space too. Moms, dads, kids, and even toddlers have activities to keep them engaged, while students and professionals can easily enjoy the natural light, clean eating, and good vibes for studying or unwinding. The AC was set to a perfect temperature (the fan was off, but honestly, the airflow felt ideal) making it equally enjoyable for a warm meal or something refreshing and cool. Service was quick, warm, and friendly the kind that makes you feel like the staff actually care about the food and about you as a guest. The fact that they source ingredients locally and support community suppliers just reinforces how counter cultural this café feels: not fast food, not processed, not industrial. Instead, it's a dream of what dining could be slow, thoughtful, and nourishing. If I could sum it up in a few words: warm, cozy, family oriented, community-based. This place is everything one could hope for. I could happily eat here several times a week. More than just a café, it feels like a promise to Waco: that we can become a little more Luna slowing down, choosing peace and quality over fast, cheap, and unhealthy.

Charges for honey in water (because they are losing money, according to staff)…read more The staff is nice. The drinks are pricey. The ambiance is very baylor-esk, no diversity otherwise. A bit overpriced considering the ingredients often tine contain HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, which is scientifically known to cause compounding health issues in humans. The service is about 50/50, as some staff is super chilled and some staff are stiff/off-putting(which is a normal). Ambiance wise, the downtown location definitely take the lead. The reason for this review is because I had had my hand burned badly from a hot water with honey being spilled on it when the staff was handing me the drink. The staff was not properly trained nor equipped to help customers if they were burned by the drinks (Mc-a-D's eat your heart out). When asked for a bag of ice, they claimed they didn't have bags, the water in the restrooms is not cold enough to help against the burning process, and there was no offer of help nor acknowledgement that they spilled burning hot water onto a customer's hand. I recommend other locations, and I recommend to always make sure they put the drink down with a lid for you or another to pickup as to avoid the chances of staff accidentally burning you and/or themselves. Safety is paramount.

My cortado was one of the better ones I've had. Smooth (not the least bit bitter), and has a wonderful crema on top. My husband ordered the "Intenso." Pretty much a "drip coffee." He said it was yummy-- had a nice smoky flavor and a good mouth feel. We also ordered a blueberry muffin. So good and unique. It reminded me of an angel food cake with blueberries. Delish.
