In almost every major city you will find a street named César Chávez. Many schools, and landmarks are also named after César Chávez. Why? César Chávez was a labor leader and civil rights activist who helped organize farmworkers in the 1960s. He and Dolores Huerta co founded the United Farm Workers and led nonviolent efforts such as strikes and nationwide boycotts to improve wages and working conditions for farm workers. His work made farmworker rights a national issue and influenced labor movements across the country.
In 2023, a mural was completed in homage to César Chávez. It is located appropriately on César Chávez Street and Waller. read more
