The famous Austin Sign is located on W Annie St between S 1st St and S 2nd St. I'd say you'd only need like 5 or 10 minutes at the Austin Sign since there's nothing else associated with the sign but the mural. But, it's a cool spot to stop by for a quick pic. There is some street parking available close by so you won't have to park far away.
Beautiful postcard mural. Location was fairly out of the way, but it made for a nice walk to go find it.
One of the many murals you'll find around Austin. This one is near SoCo and is accessible by walking! Make a point to see it and all the other murals in Austin!
A must stop when visiting Austin. Instagram worthy. There weren't many people there so we were able to stop take a couple pics and keep it moving.
Why not!? We somehow managed to take photo with a "greetings from" murals in each city we visited during our two week trip thru Texas and New Mexico this summer. It's on an easily accessible spot, just park, jump out, take a quick photo or a selfie and keep going. This mural like any other greetings from murals is 1940's inspired giant postcard with oversized letters for the name of the town and each letter has some local landmarks. In this case University of Texas, Congress Avenue Bridge, Barton Springs, American flag.. pretty cool.
I thought this mural would be in a bigger part of town and there would be tons of tourists lining up to take pictures as I've gotten accustomed to while in tourist cities with popular and famous landmarks. It turns out it's a bit further south of the downtown area on 1st street and on the wall of a small corner shop. I thought I'd have to wait in line but there was no one there. I took a couple pictures and realized that there was really nothing else to do. I stood there, looked around, and then just left. And that's it. Maybe I should've taken a selfie since I was by myself and there was no line, but it was too hot to stand out there for longer than I wanted to. Either way, this was a cool mural to check out and it's iconic!
The Austin mural is a must stop when you are in town. My friends and I actually found great parking, I think it was in front of a cafe / coffee shop of some sort. And most of all it was not crowded. Went around afternoon time I think.
Such a colorful fun sign and an iconic Austin-you have to get a picture if you visit Austin! It's easily accessible with parking and was not crowded at all even on a Saturday
Located at the corner of W Annie St and First St, this public mural got a lot of traction from visitors. This was a great way to enjoy Austin's street art scene. People wanted to get the entire mural picture. But, this required stepping out onto the street to do that. Not very good with oncoming traffic. Lol. But, most Austin drivers seemed understanding about this. A couple was nice enough to take our pictures, and we returned the kindness. Park anywhere, as this mural was located around a residential area. If you're in the area, this would be a great spot to get some fun pictures in of Austin. Do any pose you like. There are no rules here. Come check them out.
This is a great mural to go and take pictures at. It is located on a corner intersection but it is easy to find. Not too much traffic going near it so you could take a picture from the middle of the street but be careful. There is plenty of street parking and if you park further down the street it is just a short walk through the neighborhood. This is a must see if you are in Austin. I have been here twice and i love how it represents the city so well. There are lots of murals but this is by far my favorite one that i always go to. Even thou i been here last year I got a picture of it this year. It's Free! so highly recommend
I took my out of town kids here to get a picture. Easily accessible, fast parking & close to great restaurants. Great for a family photo & soaking up the Austin vibe.
Little out of the way from other things in the Austin downtown area but so worth for a nice photo! Parking wasn't a problem and glad we got our tourist moment in by visiting this mural/sign.
So much fun driving around looking for the life size post cards. I would highly recommend it. Traffic wasn't too too bad.

We had friends visiting from out of town and we toured them around Austin. The City is known for its bright and beautiful murals. First stop, Greeting from Austin Postcard Mural. It contains all the things Austin is known for Capitol of Texas, Lady Bird Lake and Congress Avenue Bridge (with 1M+ bats underneath), University of Texas Tower, symbols of Austin being the "Live Music Capitol of the World" and our Texas Flag. Folks visit this mural daily to take pictures. It likely commemorates their wonderful time in Austin, TX. read more

Very easy mural to find and take pics at, located at a corner intersection. Similar vibe to the "keep portland weird" sign and similar stuff around the USA. Pros: - easy residential parking around the area, shouldn't have to walk far - Directions on google maps is v accurate - not super busy street - not crowded, usually there's like 10+ people there so you have enough people to assist you with your ig pic read more

I love the art scene in Austin, and the Greetings From Austin Postcard Mural is a popular one to check out while in town. I would recommend visiting it, but there are a few things to keep in mind when doing so. The mural is not located around the other murals in South Congress. It's in a more residential area, which is totally walkable from the main South Congress drag. We were navigated by Google Maps on foot, and it was a little difficult to find. But eventually we found it! The mural is on the Roadhouse Relics building. And to get a photo of the entire mural on your phone, you have to take the photo from across the street and zoom in or you need to literally stand in the middle of the intersection. Yeah, this mural is right by a busy street, so there will be cars passing through the entire time. Be safe! The mural itself is beautiful. It really does look like a retro postcard, with how colorful and detailed it is. It's definitely a mural to see and appreciate in Austin. Glad to have checked it out. read more
Greetings from Austin! Wow there are so many murals in Austin, very photo worthy. So many down ally ways, behind dumpsters, behind buildings and stores, even abandon buildings. Painted by talented artists, without a message or meaning but open largely to interpretation. This particular postcard mural is found in South 1st street (in South Congress), where you will find a lot of hipster stores, food trucks, vintage clothing and so forth. This mural was painted in 1998 by Todd Sanders, who owns Roadhouse Relics (vintage neon design studio, worth a look). Then was restored in November 2013. This sign faces south (on Annie St), so often there will be plenty of sun shinning on it. You can park along Annie St. Hop out of the car and take your photo and then drive away. The word is out that this mural exist so there may be some people taking photos. But luckily on our visit, there was no one. Worth a visit if you are in town. read more
There are so many murals around Austin, but this is probably the most popular one. It's colorful and each letter shows an aspect of Austin. I wish I knew what each letter showed. This is what I think the pictures in each letter is: A- Congress Avenue Bridge U- Barton Springs Pool S- University of Austin- Littlefield Fountain & Tower T- Frost Bank Tower I- Sixth Street...? N- Texas state flag read more
This is a painted mural often seen on postcards or in people's social media profile photos. Greetings from Austin, the Capital of Texas! Located just off of First Street. It's a popular stopping point for tourists who want a selfie or photo-op moment for sharing with family and friends. With its postcard-like background and artistic qualities, it is a nice place to stop and snap a photo. We got lucky to get there without too many hashtaggers. This is in fact a popular stop for photography and can get quite busy... so please be patient. Be aware of incoming traffic, respect the neighbourhood, and keep in mind street parking is very limited. The city of Austin prides itself in weirdness, so be sure to make it your point at the Greetings from Austin mural to brag to the world that you were here, in the weird capital of USA. Cool mural that make a lasting memories to share on Yelp or other social media. "There's a freedom you begin to feel the closer you get to Austin, Texas." --Willie Nelson read more

What a fun thing! Myself, and a group of about 12 friends hopped on some Uber bikes and found our way to the mural from downtown (highly recommended esp bc I didn't notice any parking). The mural was vibrant and huge! Perfect for pics of our Austin adventure. It's a great tourist spot that you can enjoy for free, and it isnt too crowded! read more
We have lots of cool murals in Austin. Take a day off and explore the city. Send a lot of snaps to your Yankee friends. You won't regret it. AND THEN at night, s-l-o-w-l-y drive your visitors down South Lamar to see the amazing neon signs our artists create: they blend the art of gases, impurities, and electricity!!! NEXT, walk down South Lamar for more great neon and snack at the food trucks. Give'm a Texas hug and say: "WELCOME to AUSTIN!!" read more
