Back at our picture spot...8 years later.

A mural has a page for reviews and I'm loving it. My sister and I come here every time I visit and we share the "over the years" mural post. People line up but all help each other by taking pics for other people so don't worry, get your shot! Aside from this being an iconic spot, Congress Avenue as a whole has a great feel. Lots of shopping, cool stores, bars, restaurants and much more. Come down and say hello!

Cute mural, but on a busy corner and one of the more congested murals we went to in Austin. Expect a short, but tolerable wait (5 mins max).

Fun mural on SoCo and a must-see if you're visiting Austin. You can also stop and get some coffee while you're at Jo's!

One of the clearest indications you made it to Austin! The story behind the mural began in 2010, when Austin musician Amy Cook painted the words of love for her partner Liz Lambert, who co-owns the coffee shop. How sweet! It has become one of the most photographed murals in Austin. Located on buzzing South Congress Avenue, this mural probably has the most foot traffic in the city! It's the perfect wall where you take a pic and send to those you do love so much but let's be real- it's really meant to give them FOMO for missing out on the best ever Austin trip.

4-23-23 I love you so much.

Fun place to take pics. There might be a line of people taking pics, but it's fun being a tourist.

I expected the sign to be more than just a green wall. Being the tourist i was coming from Los Angeles i participated. It was a nice walk on Congress, stores and food places to browse and eat. I don't remember what store the wall is on but its right across from Amy's Ice Cream.

It feels like nearly every block of Austin has some giant expression of creativity blasted against its walls for the world to see. This particular mural is located on the wall of Jo's coffee. Street parking only and MSY find a queue to take pictures there depending on time you visit. People who were there when I visited were friendly and smiling, I think "I love you so much" mural is making them all cheerful? I ended up staying there longer as people kept asking me to take their pictures. Don't forget to stop by the coffee shop while there.

Of course I had to visit the "Love you so much mural" while on a work trip in Austin. The mural was created by a local musician Amy Cook as a love note on the side of Jo's Coffee shop in 2010. It has been a tourist attraction ever since. Definitely a photo-op. Just check out Instagram

I visited the coffee shop (Jo's Coffee) while in Austin specifically for the pic of the mural. I had an Iced Pistachio Latte. Next time I would order one less pump because it was a little sweet for my taste but still delish. Got a nice pic with my nephew and brother in law too.

This was a fun one. There are little restaurants around as well. Well worth the scavenger hunt around Austin.

Our trip to Austin sadly has come to an end. We had to come take a photo by a couple of the most popular, must photo spots for Austin Murals. We love Austin, and everything about it. We will come back.

Very touristy area of South Congress st in Austin. At first there was a line so I wasn't going to wait to take a pic. But after a while the line died down so I went ahead and got a memory at the mural with a pic. Very cute mural. Keep Austin weird!

An Austin staple! After living here in Austin my whole life and passing this wall so many times you would think it would get old. Wrong! Ive visited this wall with m family, friends, and now significant other. South congress is such a beautiful strip to walk down with many other staples of its own. If you have the chance definitely stop and take a picture. I promise it wont get old! I promise its worth it.

This place might honestly be my favorite spot I've ever visited. I love oddities, and they are surprisingly hard to find all together like this. Walking through here felt like running away to the circus in the best way. Every room has something that makes you stop and stare. Shrunken heads, two-headed specimens, medical oddities, freak show history, UFO lore, Movie props and replicas! and so much more. I appreciated that it felt more like a cabinet of curiosities than a haunted house vibe. The exhibits are thoughtfully laid out, and there's a genuine feeling of love for weird history here. It doesn't feel cheesy. You can take your time, read signs, and really soak it all in if you want, or just wander around wide eyed and delighted like me. If you're into oddities, curiosities, circus history, strange science, or just being a little weird inside, this place is an absolute must while you're downtown. I left smiling and already wanting to go back. Honestly, if this is your thing at all, you'll get it immediately. One small but important thing to note, especially for the rest of my disabled community: there is no bathroom on site. While they do let you leave and come back if needed, that still means stepping out and trying to find a restroom on a very busy downtown Austin street. It was honestly really stressful and upsetting for me. However...that didn't ruin the experience for me because I love it so much, but it's definitely something to be aware of and the only reason this lands at 4 stars instead of 5.

We made a reservation because we wanted to go at sunset. Without a reservation, you might get in but it's first come first served. We arrived extra early because if you're not familiar with UT and all of its ongoing construction, it can be challenging to find the Art Center. We asked some friendly students to point us in the right direction and got to the exhibit right on time. We checked in with the student on duty. There's a circular waiting room to the right of the check in desk where I saw people waiting. Some were sitting on the benches, others were actually lying on the floor. Geez how long had they been waiting? I sheepishly whispered to the student receptionist that I wasn't quite sure what the deal was. She advised that we could go right in. Right in to that circular waiting room? uh, yeah. that IS the exhibit. it fits maybe 20 people comfortably. and suddenly lying on the floor seemed perfectly reasonable. So we laid out our jackets and lied on the floor (there are blankets available at the exhibit in case you are a floor-lier without a jacket). we looked up. the roof is sort of canopy-like, and white, with a big blue oval dot in the middle. there are led lights in the base of the canopy that shine upwards casting a glow on the canopy. so we're lying there. and...we're lying there. and like i said we had no idea what to expect. after a while we saw a red plane fly by and we realized that the blue oval dot was actually a hole to the sky. ok, cool. and we're lying there just looking up. and then, things started to happen. i'm not going to tell you the details of the exhibit. you have to go experience it for yourself and be wowed. i will tell you that the key to the exhibit is patience (and the ability to lie on the floor). if you are patient, you will be vastly rewarded. 5-stars vast.

The garden was a perfect place for my friend's celebration of life. She would have loved the tree canopy, small ponds, and the bronze and stone works in the garden. My friends passing caused me to think about life, death and the dash in between the two. The commentary today came from her younger brother, two friends and her aunt. Their glowing remarks intertwined with snippets of humor helped to soften the moment. One of the comments from her brother is that you need to keep in touch with family and friends, tell them you love them and do not miss those very important moments. Those thoughts resonated with me. Sometimes in this microwaveable society, we do not make time to be intentional and spend uninterrupted time with family and friends. I committed today to be more intentional from this day forward. When my mom and sister passed, I was selected by our family to do the eulogy, which is one the hardest things you can possibly do in life. How can you capture one's life in 15-20 minutes? What topics are most salient to discuss? Inevitably, my mind drifted to gratitude. I am so grateful for my family who loves me unconditionally. I am grateful to all my friends and especially those friends who have been riding with me for 25+ years.
