This was a time when public school in Stockton was in high demand. Pops slept out there for 4 days to get me in. Somehow in 1985, sleeping on the street was deemed "unfair" and the school became a traditional public school, opened to any kid with a pulse. Now, I've seen people sleep on the street before. Waiting for concert tickets, homeless, just plain tired. Whatever the reason I have never thought to myself " That looks nice, I'd like to sleep on the street but I can't. Hey you there...yeah you..... sleeping on the street. That's "unfair" of you for being miserable and not getting a good nights sleep and although I'm unwilling to do the same I do have the time to petition the schoolboard and prevent this "unfair" practice of waiting in line for 4 days via "street sleeping" to get my kid in school." Side note: Prior to 1984 you didn't have to sleep on the street if you were a close friend of Principle Coffee who let in the his friends kids automatically. We weren't. (Fucker) After enrollment I began my first day of school. Terrible experience. Especially when Stacey Carter told me at lunch that tuna fish smelled and that I was gross. It took me 15 yrs to get back on the horse and eat some albacore. Since I wouldn't wear shoes with laces or pants that weren't sweats mom tried to compensate by putting me in a izod shirt with a collar. Which only made me look homeless. You know how homeless people sometimes have one piece of clothing thats just too nice and looks out of place when compared to the rest of their clothes. i.e. Drunken man in an unbuttoned ripped windbreaker, filthy tight jeans and bandana but has brand new polished Sperry deck shoes w/ tassels. My homeless style continued through grammer school until highschool where uniforms were mandatory. No joke. Even if you were albino but had a last name like "Ramirez" you were free from beatings, harassment, name-calling and the usual rough housing. Time for a little physical activity...outdoors...fresh air. More like a time to let all the crack babies out all at once and let them kill each other. Seriously there were skirmishes or for sake of a better word brawls everyday. Why ? Cause none of the kids brought food and the school lunch provided was so gross that I wouldn't feed it to a dog. Nothing crazier than 250 kids hungrey for food and fighting. (This was also back when public schools had dedicated smoke lounges so all the teachers would smoke a pack and half in a effort to try and kill themselves before lunch ended and we returned to class) 1990 was the best year of all due to a teachers strike. It was the usual bullshit about more money, more benefits, larger smoking lounges, free cigarettes.... blah, blah, blah. Luckily neither side could agree for 3 weeks so we got a huge jump start on summer. Yes !!! (Who else has been to the waterslides in the Costco parking lot 10 days in a row? Me.) In 4th grade we met Webster Slaugher a wide reciever for the Browns. I had absolutley no idea who he was. Turns out he not only had an awesome last name but, was a 2 time pro-bowler and and related to Ms. Wyatt, our 4th grade teacher. Then in 5th grade we had to donate out clothes for the 2nd time to Armando's family cause his dumb fuck dad burned the house down (again). This time he left hot coals in a paper bag on the carpet and went to the store. Future Darwin Award Winner huh? In sixth grade we went to Science camp. The highlight had next to nothing to do with Science. Seeing what would happen if a close friend of mine could keep a bet to not shit for the entire week was far more compeling. Turns out he kept the bet and nothing that cool happened. Seventh and eight grade was spent hoping that the glue and staples we jammed into the door locks would postpone class for at least a half hour.

It is so beautiful now with remodeling but i wouldn't be that fooled from the looks your still in the east side and have to put up with all the drama and ghetto people who cause problems for you and some that wanna disturb the class if you decide to come here get into IB or TLC where you get teachers that care and students to actually motivated to graduate and want to go to college, i wish i would have i regret it ever since.

I spoke to Mr. Taylor (I believe is his name) and was passed over to Ms. Gayle. She wasn't professional at all, actually quite rude! Spoke with a negative attitude and shouldn't be working around children because she comes off very COLD, not caring or sympathetic at all! Too bad they don't appreciate the good kids that go there! If my children didn't already have good friends there we would be off to a better school! Wouldn't recommend going there for 6-8th grade either, when my child finished 8th grade they didn't get to go to Great America or really do anything special for the 8th graders at all. Just a short pathetic ceremony that the staff appeared bored at and ready to go home! Too bad, I wanted to like this school!!!

Located in downtown Stockton and ranked as one of the best high schools in California. This is not…read moreyour ordinary school and the curriculum is no joke. The academic standards are high, the work is tough and the students that attend this school are among the brightest. It's a small school with teachers that are ready and willing to give the students one on one help when needed and are available via e-mail or to meet in person. Something I greatly appreciate. My son is now a junior and I will miss this place and the incredible staff once he graduates.

This school is one of the best schools nationwide. They prepare their students for what is up…read moreahead. There is no playing around on this school because even summer my kids are still doing homework for next grade level that they are going to be in. The teachers and staff are exceptional. They are very knowledgeable on their job and can be easily reachable by email or in person. This school's curriculum will drill your brain. There are a lot of studying going on but if you need help they will not hesitate to help you out.

The date doesn't match the week day. When the appointment day came, I didn't receive a call, so I had to reach out to see what is going on. The excuse was she was on another call which ended late. She lost her voice and I could barely hear her, so we rescheduled. And again, no call & no text on the second appointment. No apologies, nothing. Extremely disappointed! Update: after posting my review here I received a response where Mrs Bleha is saying she had an emergency. But still, she could have let me know! That's how professionals do! I don't buy it, because it looks like she always have some type of excuses instead of doing her job professionally!

I subbed here for several years over a decade ago and every day was usually a tiresome ordeal; from fractious children, unsupportive staff, poor management and dangerous work conditions. SUSD has consistently ranked in the lower 10% of California schools Statewide for the past 40 years. I am certain that even with every Initiative, Stig program or grant injected into this pogrom of a mess, it has only become worse. Avoid it like the plague.

Everyone at her school is amazing, from staff in front office, teachers, security, ELOP after school staff, everyone really. So since my daughter's school falls under SUSD district, they've got to be doing something right! I enjoy all the programs available to students, the before school for working parents programs, to the ELOP after school program, that not only helps out us working parents, but is fun for the kids to get some homework in with class mates, play, spend some extra time not in the classroom. The summer online reading courses they have. Even all of the curriculum they have available on their chrome books to access apps like sora, money max, iReady reading and math. My daughter's school is well kept up, clean, like I said the staff are what make me feel good knowing my daughter is happy everyday going to school everyday, never has any issues with peers, and she's excelling! That's all that matters to me. So SUSD whatever you're doing to support my daughter's school, don't stop.
