Ran into some of the same issues as others. Had a radio replaced in my Ford, mostly because the existing unit would not run some of the software I would have liked, age, not damage. 1. From the moment I left the shop I discovered a problem with the backup camera. Poor picture, useless angle, etc. I was originally informed that I would require my on-board camera to be replaced. It seems there is a control, CD eject button that controls the camera view. 2. My heating system was hijacked by the unit. From that point onwards I could not use the climate control. The displayed temp was anywhere between 0 and 70 degrees C. At this point I got the radio manufacturer involved 3. I was informed that the store was waiting for an upgrade from the manufacturer of the interface unit. 4. Other features were disappointing and Included Phone volume suddenly cutting out, Radio unavailable after a phone call, and other minor features. I finally gave up (0ver 3 months) and asked for my original radio to be reinstalled. As I was leaving the site, I tried the radio, no go. I returned to the store (hadn't really left) and immediately got berated for coming in with a faulty unit. Everything was my fault and they even said that the only reason for replacing my existing radio was because of problems I was having. This was not a claim that I had made. Everything worked properly when I first came in. After the new unit was installed, the CD player would not work with the new unit, that was fine as I never used it anyway. That is the only issue they actually brought to my attention. Among the things they claimed was wrong included coins in the radio, no sign of this. The store could not have an effect on the supplier despite being their main source of sales. Needless to say, I will never darken their door again. read more

I went here years ago to get my car remote starter/alarm system looked at. The problem was hilarious but needed to be fixed, every time i started my car the 4 ways would flash for 10-20 minutes. Not helpful. So they told me they had to remove my car starter system and would order me a new one and call me when it came back. My car has been without a car starter since then. No call back, I called them back and they seemed confused at my questions and said they would call me back. It's been about 6 years and i'm starting to think they forgot about me. I was incredibly poor at this time and mooching meals off of friends and family but they did get some of my moola and i got nothing. It stings harder when you scrape by to fund a solution and they only get you 50% of the way. Better places out there. read more

Overall I was very disappointed with my experience, I paid north of $1200 (excluding extra key $400) to have a remote start installed in my Audi A7. Upon drop off I was told I'd be given a call when the vehicle was completed, after waiting the entire day I received no call. I called them at which point I was told they had some issues and would need to keep the vehicle another day, I agreed and I understand issues can happen and not every job goes to plan, but HAVE THE PROFESSIONALISM TO CALL AND INFORM YOUR CUSTOMERS . The next day picking up the vehicle everything seemed well, the new manager and sales guy who helped me did a great job but my experience didn't end there. I received a call the following day saying they had forgotten to put parts back on my vehicle (completely unacceptable, CHECK YOUR WORK) I also noticed that one of the technicians had jammed my centre console closed wrong which rendered it stuck (again completely unacceptable). Finally I've gotten my vehicle back and have been playing with the remote start which works decently well, but still has issues. Picking it up I would've loved to have my problems all rectified but sadly I cannot currently say I trust them to stand behind their work, if you're looking for remote start especially on a higher end vehicle I'm not convinced it's in your best interest having them work on it. Hopefully I hear back and can say I trust them in the future but currently I cannot. Update: After a couple weeks of the remote starter not working I contacted them again. I was shown and told by management "we have 3 Audi"s in the back we know what we're doing" this did not reassure me considering they were more concerned about showing me cars in their shop than solving my issues. I did however bring my car back for another entire day of monkey business, they told me they did observe the vehicle not starting but after multiple tests they didn't change anything to the current setup because it also did work "sometimes". when I went to take my car back home I noticed my front splitter had been parked on the curb and was used to plow the snow back (images attached) another couple days has gone by and of course the remote start is still having issues... waiting for contact from manager I was told it'd be dealt with first thing next day and still have no received a call at 1:30 pm. Quoting someone in management position it is "busy" because of sales, very convincing they don't care about getting the problem resolved. I wanted a car starter for my truck so I thought I will go to certified radio cause they are the best!? well I was wrong I had to bring my truck back about 6 times to get it fixed and my alarm wouldn't stop going off !! like 10-15 times a day and it wasent windy or nothing just go off for no reason !! They upsell and then ignore. Had I known I would never have bought a car starter there. When it was moved from one vehicle to the next, informed I needed a new harness at an additional cost. I asked for my old one back and yet it was not provided. There again when the connected app would not work. Said 1/2 hour max. First time left after 90 minutes due to a family emergency and this time left when they said due to poor cell connectivity in the shop they could not test it. Would be quite a while yet. Took my car in as the remote appeared to be sending a signal (light did come on) but was no longer locking the car, or working the command start. Certified told me the unit in the car was defective; and that they couldn't get it to pair up to as a new remote. Offered to sell me (special deal!!) a new command start system for $700 (on a 2009 Hyundai - I don't think so). Took my car into Visions. In 2 minutes they figured out the old 2-way remote I'd been using wasn't actually sending a signal. They re-programmed my original 1-way remote, and voila! It works. Black eye, Certified! read more

Attempted to get a Solace car starter for a Audi SQ5. Stopped in at Certrified Radio West for a quote. Customer service iffy at best to start. Called South Side store to get a quote. Surprisingly, they quoted a different number, $200 cheaper. This quote was provided by the store manager. Wanted to use West store for convenience so asked why the price difference. They told me that I didn't get a quote for that amount??? in the end they agreed to honor the quote provided by the SS store manager. Hint - maybe get a written quote to prevent the misunderstandings later. Front desk genious at West store indicated that the Solace was the way to go and they had lots of experience installing them in an Audi SQ5. Day of install, late in the afternoon genious calls and says they cannot get the starter to work properly, but offered to try another starter for a upcharge of $400. I told them to forget it. Wasted two full days running around for Certified Radio. No Car starter and terrible customer service. Don't be fooled by the ads on the radio. Poor service at BEST. It was not the best experience. I went in intending to buy a car cd player . So the salesman showed me one he said was a good deal and i said ok lets do this. So we went up to the front and he looked in the computer and they didn't have one in stock so i picked out another they did have and i was going to make an appointment to get it installed but i just had my home phone changed to a new company so couldn't remember the number . He said we couldn't make the appointment because the computer needed the number or it wouldn't work. I was going to pay the whole thing up front so i couldn't see what the big deal was. We really enjoy and rely on the remote starter and camera/alarm package that Certified Radio installed. After a windshield was replaced, it all stopped working and we scheduled a visit to Certified Radio. I arrived at 8am and without any delay, Corey got everything lined up so I was without my vehicle for a very short time!! I'd stay away. Got a phone remote starter a while back and have gone through 5 batteries since (having better results with a deep-cycle battery. They peddle their in-house made starter as the best one on the market, when it's clearly at the bottom. Tried to get them to take the starter out but it got quoted at around the same price as the starter itself. I kept the starter installed but have just disconnected it / it is not used at all. My fob worked for a total of one month, and when I took it back they are like "oh ya...this happens all the time with these". They fixed it but it lasted a week. I installed a Titan remote starter here 4 years ago. I went in today to get a new remote. I was told that my starter was obsolete 6-8 years ago and that there are no parts available for it. Believe it or not they actually told me that the only thing I could do was to install a whole new system. The guy standing beside him had to turn his back because he started to laugh at the stupidity of that statement. Buyer BEWARE!!!! I purchased a Solace S3 car remote starter for my ford diesel truck on the advice of one of the salesman. He told me it would do all the things I was looking for, including multiple starts per day when the temperature dropped below a certain set temp. Range would be more than adequate for my needs, with the claimed (UP TO) 4000 ft. Well they did get it installed and gladly took my money. Shortly after is when things went south! It started with my complaints about range. This thing was good for a solid 150-200 feet! Beyond that, it was hit or miss, seemed that it had a maximum range of around 1000 feet on the VERY best of days, with absolutely nothing between the remote and my truck. The other issue I noticed, It would not start my truck on the first attempt,(this later appeared to be programming). Finally the last issue I had, the cold start feature was absolutely useless. I had the starter programmed to start at -5 C, however at -19C, nothing. (the remote indicated a temperature of only -4C, a full -15C difference. Initially ,they took the truck in, reprogrammed it, and set the crank time longer, as well as a few other settings, all of which were incorrectly set during the initial install. Well fast forward 5 trips to them and 3 weeks later as well as one day in which the remote started cycling through start/stop over and over for approx 1.5 hrs, only fix came from resetting the main computer, I spoke with one of the managers there (Andy), and he agreed to remove the Solace starter, and install a different brand free of charge. I thought this was great, and set up an appointment for Saturday. On the day of my appointment, I was there early, waiting for them to open their doors, and at 9am walked in. That was when all hell broke loose. The on duty manager had no idea about what the other manager had told me, no notes left, and told me I would have to pay for the cost of install and removal. I got a 'little' upset and so he phoned the other manager at home who denied making this arrangement with me. After a couple hours fighting with the on duty manager, he finally relented and agreed to honor this deal, then told me to leave the truck there, and it would be ready well before closing. I did this and left.(This was around 11AM). At 1:30 pm, the manager calls me up and informs me that they only had one installer working, the other one had just left because he wasn't scheduled to work this afternoon, so they would not be able to get it done today. All this after I booked time off work and had an appointment. Bottom line, find another place if you're in the market for a car remote/ car audio. They will gladly sell you something, and get you in to be able to take your money, but if any work needs to be done, they dance around it, give you the run around, try everything they can to get you to leave without doing a thing. read more

I came in to buy an rca line filter for my car in hopes of fixing the alternator noise in my speakers. The goof behind the counter insisted that it wouldn't work and to instead cut my vehicle speed sensor wire. Well that fried the ecu and gave me 4 dash warning lights. The car ended up having to have the entire cluster replaced as well as an abs pump and a few other things totaling over $15,000 in damages. I reconnected the wire, and later on installed an rca line filter, which did in fact solve my problem. Bought a 1800 dollar stereo for my truck . The truck has all the bells whistles but I was assured everything would work took my truck back 6 times to get the stereo working properly . They never did fix it . This $1800 stereo works like a old radio. Even a old radio you can get sound to change from front to the back not my clairion system. I was told when I bought this that everything that was stock from the factory would be working when I picked up the truck it wasn't and never did . The last visit I told them I was very disappointed with there service . I was assured by two of the staff that they would look into the problem and get back to me they never did . I originally talked to them about my car starter that had quit last winter - could it be repaired or would it have to be replaced and what would be the costs for both. I had to book into the next week and they told me that they would either repair or have to replace if the repairs were too expensive. I went in the next week, sat at a coffee shop for over an hour until they called me to tell me my starter was not working and would have to be replaced. Really?? so fix it and have it done as quickly as you said you would (before noon) - nope couldn't do and I would have to rebook another time for them to install a new car starter. Great a waste of a morning and then they charge me $53. So I called Evolution Audio on Stony Plain Rd and they had me in that afternoon. In less than an hour and for $90, my car starter was repaired. They said as soon as they looked at it, they saw that the previous owner installed it himself and there were melted wires causing a short. They replaced the wiring and resoldered everything so no more shorts... - that's what great customer service does and it is how new business gets referred. Don't go to Certified unless you have money to spare cos all they are interested in is installing their cheap stuff at expensive prices. They quoted me $500 for a car starter with 2000' range - what a load of carp.... read more

Went there for the to evaluate my vehicle for re hook up of an aftermarket deck to the stock subwoofer. Told them explicitly the current set up in the car (after market deck, stock rear speakers, and after market amp). They had their Porsche 'expert' look at the car. They spent / charged for an hour, and told me that there wasn't an amp in the car, and that the speakers I had in place were no name junk speakers (mix of Bose and Audison). They then proceeded to push hard at buying a new set of component speakers and amp from them. Was pretty dissapointed considering they didn't at all address the main issue I had asked them to. Not sure if they intentionally tried to mislead me or if they geniuinely didn't see the speakers or amplifier in the car. Went to another shop and they were able to identify the issue of why my speakers weren't firing (broken wire) and were able to get everything working again within the same amount of time. Best case scenario they had an off day, but I honestly feel like I was being defrauded. Wouldn't go back there ever. read more
