I wanted to write a review for this school for a long time now, so since it's permanently closed I can finally let everything out. I was looking for a pre-school for my two year old. I wanted him to socialize with other children and to improve on his communication skills, plus he was having behavioral issues from just staying home. I was touring many schools around the area and found Cerritos Lane to be a contender, but I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to enroll my son. It was a nagging gut feeling that something wasn't right. The director at the time, Ms. Karen, followed up with me TWICE. I decided to enroll my child since she was so persistent and the teachers have decades of experience. Okay, two weeks later the director suddenly resigned and everything changed. A few weeks later my child got in trouble for not sharing. I had him evaluated by several health professionals and they said he's not aggressive and he's only two years old- not wanting to share is normal BUT the school made it a big deal, particularly the owner. I was again looking for other schools at this point. Family members convinced me to let him stay at this school since he's already familiar with it. Then the day after a holiday I get a letter stating the school is closing and the last day is in two weeks. Stressed, saddened, shocked and frustrated can't being to describe it. I felt like this school just slapped me in the face for the third time. I'm sad for my child, his classmates, and the teaching staff. Now we're all starting over again. The only reason why I didn't give this place 1 star is because of Ms. Claudia and Ms. Carolina. They are truly exceptional teachers that are patient and understanding. We miss them and hope better things are coming. read more

It feels strange to be writing a review for a school that has now closed, but I wanted to take the time to highlight both the good and the not-so-great aspects--partly for recognition and partly for the constructive criticism for any future ventures. Cerritos Lane was my son's first school, and because of that, it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Like many toddlers, he had a tough time with drop-offs in the beginning (and some other days sprinkled throughout the duration of his time there). But the morning teachers, Ms. Carolina and Ms. Rose, and his primary teacher, Ms. Claudia, were incredibly patient, understanding, and kind. Their care and consistency meant the world to us. Ms. Karen, the director at the time, also played a huge role in making mornings smoother. She often helped calm him during transitions, and he adored her. When she suddenly left, it was a big shift for my son, and the difference in leadership was noticeable. The new director wasn't as warm or hands-on, and some of the questions she directed through the staff felt unnecessarily personal and intrusive. It was also very difficult to get payment receipts so I can claim DCFSA. After asking several times, I still don't have it and now the school is closed. Unrelated to this change, we had already made the decision to move to a different school that offered a key feature we were looking for - a lunch program. But just a week before our transition, we received a letter stating that Cerritos Lane would be closing in two weeks. While the timing worked out for us, my heart went out to the many families and staff who were left scrambling. Though the closure was due to personal reasons, I believe more notice could have shown better respect and consideration for everyone affected. In summary, there were definitely pros and cons in his five months there. The teachers were truly wonderful and were the heart and soul of the school and the tuition cost was reasonable. But the leadership and communication, especially near the end, needed significant improvement. We're grateful for the time our son had there and will miss the incredible teachers dearly - especially Ms. Claudia. We wish them nothing but the best wherever they go next. read more

Tldr: Think twice before choosing Cerritos Lane preschool unless you are ok leaving your children with a rude director, passive teachers, and medicore care. The past year there has been staff turnover and now Cerritos Lane is a total 180 of what it used to represent. The previous director, Karen, who really knew each and every child and was such a great communicator with families sadly resigned in March.  The center has another director/owner, Renee who stepped in alongside an assistant director Ms. Lynn. Unfortunately, the owner is very unapproachable and observations with her interaction with kids is skin deep. She is good at pointing out the children's errors and providing activities that look good on pictures and social media, but fails to connect with each and individual child to foster their growth and well being. Unfortunately this has resulted in the teachers being unapproachable as well as making us parents wonder if they really care about the development of our young children or just surviving to make that next paycheck. There has been several families who withdrew their children or have been kicked out since March . The number of withdrawals alone speaks volumes to the disconnect that Cerritos Lane now resonates within our community. Choose this preschool with caution as any issue that arises with your child may result in condescension and belittlement from management. According to Renee, they are only there for teaching only, not love or nurturing. The kids are 2 to 5 years old! Love, comfort and security at this age is the #1 priority and this school will not provide that for your child. read more

My 2 boys went to school here from September 2022 to May 2025. The school has gone through major management changes this past March and has gone severely downhill. The previous director Ms Karen was incredibly kind and accommodating to my children. She truly embodied the spirit of love and nurture for the children. Ms Renee who has taken over the school is a rude condescending person with absolutely zero compassion for children. It's very clear she has no experience teaching toddler aged children. She kicked my eldest child out of the school because they were unable to "handle" him. The expectations for the school is to enroll perfect children, and if not they call immediately to pick up your child. We went from zero issues to needing to pick up our son 2-3x/wk. I personally know many other parents of children who have been kicked out or are actively pulling their kids out of this horrible school (at least 6 at the time of this post over the last 2 months). DO NOT COME HERE if you value your children receiving the individual love and attention they need. read more

My daughter went to cerritos lane preschool. We've had a good experience at here. The teachers are caring ,attentive, patient and creating a nurturing environment for the kids. Our child has enjoyed the engaging activities and has made noticeable progress in both social and academic skills. The class rooms are very spacious they have great play yard. 2 year old teacher has great experience potty training the kids and help them do cute craft works for the kids to remember letters , numbers, seasons and all. Over all we would recommend this place if you are living close to cerritos. read more

My name is Ms. Claudia and I was the 2yr. Old Teacher at Cerritos Lane Preschool for more than 7 yrs., the reason I am writing this is in response to Abby R.'s review. I can honestly say that I am shocked to see what she has written. I know that this is a platform where you as Parents can write your opinions but to say things that are not true is not ok. I did have her oldest daughter in my class years ago and I know for a fact that I never told her that the children just play and do art. I am a fully qualified Teacher who has been teaching 2yr. Olds for more than 25 yrs. My class was taught many things and I take pride in the fact that I do teach the Children that have been in my class. I have countless Parents that can vouch for me on that aspect. If I was not a good Teacher than why put your second Daughter in my class? Don't get me wrong I did enjoy having them both in my class. They are Sweet and good Little Girls. On the topic of her 2nd Daughter having a bowel movement when she picked her up, I spoke to Abby about that.. children often times change their bowel movement schedule and that's what her daughter did, because I did notice that she had a bowel movement when she was leaving and did tell her that she needed her pull up changed. There were times I offered to change her and did, or Abby said "I'll change her". Also there were times at pick up that she literally had just had a bowel movement. How do you control that? I have always let Parents know when their child has had a bowel movement. The day that she speaks of when her daughter was smelly, I did notice what her Daughter had done and when I spoke to her about it she told me "She does that sometimes". Children are children. I did what I have always done with Children in my care, done my job. About the pictures of the Children, yes I did say I would send them and I will. My priority at Cerritos Lane was not taking pictures of the Children it was teaching them, making sure they were safe, showing them how to be social with each other and having them learn about the many themes that we covered. Taking pictures was always a second choice. I did offer to take pictures of the Children when they first start to offer comfort to the Parents. So that they can see for themselves that their child is ok. It was never an obligation. Since the school closed I myself have had many obligations to attend to, unfortunately I have not been able to return the said lunch bag. It was never my intention to keep it. It was misplaced and I did communicate to Abby that I would return it. I am so sorry she feels the way she does...... I truly enjoyed my time at Cerritos Lane Preschool. The Staff was incredible, the Parents were Amazing and the Children were the Best. Every Child that I had in my class will forever hold a special place in my heart. I am truly sad that things ended the way they did. I truly miss and adore everyone. (Again I truly felt that I had to say something on my behalf.) read more

My son is currently attending Cerritos Lane and I could not be happier. The teachers are all so nice, very patient and very attending. Every time I have walked in to the class the kids are all very engaged in whatever activity they are doing and the class is always under control. My older one who's a teenager now used to go to Cerritos Lane. And I also sent my younger one back here after the pandemic. Both my kids loved their school and the teachers. My son has been attending since 2 years old, pre covid, and then had to stop due to covid, but has since returned. He loves it there! The staff are friendly, the space is clean, and they have all their checks and balances in order. My son has learned so much since returning to school and I am so appreciative of how well the school manages his daily activities. There's no funny business going on, and Miss Karen gets straight to the point! Love that I get all the facts and no fluff cause who has time for that during a pandemic?! My 4 year old daughter went to Cerritos Lane for a little over a year. Initially, I really liked the organization and commitment of the director and the teachers. Kid friendly lunches included in the tuition was a plus too. I felt that my child was safe, cared for and was thriving the way all children her age should. The staff were all really friendly, willing to discuss any issues and had a ton of patience! (Bless thier hearts!) With that all said, you might ask why my child is no longer at Cerritos Lane. Well... At Cerritos Lane, the children are divided by ages (2's, 3's, 4's, 5's). When my daughter entered the 4's class, she was very excited (as was I), but I was a bit disappointed with the 'routine' of her day. Typically after doing their academic work, the kids were sent to one area where they played with wooden building blocks. I noticed that this went on for months. I'm not sure why since the school offers/has an array of toys, learning paraphenelia for the kiddos that they would find much more exciting. For months on end, everything was very much routine, which I feel was not very conducive to learning. It was more like training, or programming. My child came home with bad habits, such as saying, "you're not my friend" and using it all the time. In addition, she was very competitve - I mean to the point where she was pissed if she wasn't "first" at everything! I know these are common behaviors typical of their age, however, that leads to my next point. .. The lack of consistent discipline-- I know how 3-4 year olds are but my child (maybe like your's) needs continuous structure when it comes to discipline. Everyone's child has different needs. That being said, CONSISTENT, positive, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism lacked. Without sounding too confusing in this review, I would take my daughter back to Cerritos Lane because the current teachers are caring and the children do excel academically, however, the number one reason we left is because we found a school of faith that was closer to our home and I feel was a better match for my daughter's needs. read more

I have all my three children attend this school and they learned so much in human behavior, academic skills and how to excel in the school. They teach the math, reading, writing and all that's needed to be the best. The teachers take their time and work individually to help the child. They do not over price the tuition, so us working people can afford a good beginning for our children. The staff have been there for many years, so to me that means happy people. One of our biggest factors in choosing a preschool for our children was trust and we have complete trust and faith in Cerritos Lane. We will not say Cerritos Lane is 100% perfect but it's the everyday effort, compassion, and love the teachers provide for each and every child. Our first daughter loved coming to Cerritos Lane everyday and is still remembered by all of her teachers to this day. The currently attending second daughter is very shy and picky who she talks to but Miss Claudia and Miss Erica were able to turn her into a singing and dancing jumping bean. When time allows Miss Karen (school director) spends some personal time with every child at Cerritos Lane creating a personal bonding moment. We are very pleased with the care and education our children have received and we look forward to many more incredible memories at Cerritos Lane. read more

They still take 2 year olds! My son will b graduating from preschool this year and I'm beyond thrilled w the current teachers he has. Ms.Yazmin and Ms. Brenda make an excellent team for the 4 year olds. Ms.Yazmin does an exceptional job of keeping the parents in the loop and updating them of their child's progress (or lack thereof). Really love the Ms.Erika and Ms.Mildred for class two (my daughter started this year and my son had them as well). They both are so genuine and truly care for these kids as if they were their own. This is a sad place. First impression may seem appealing. They will tell you everything you want to hear. They have a two hour nap time. WRONG! At times I found it to be 3. PURE LAZINESS. "If your child is not a sleeper, we have a separate room they can play quietly in" WRONG!! They do not even allow your Child to sit up in the cot during the "2 hour" nap time to do activities to occupy their attention if they cannot sleep because " it is not fair to the other SLEEPING children". Parents be advised. We had our daughter there for nearly two years. The younger class teachers are truly exceptional. It ends there. Through out the two years we started to realize that the teachers here are very unprofessional. They seem to have their own "groups". Almost like a high school click. On several occasion i walked in on them gossiping about the other teachers and children. In time we noticed our daughter reenacting her teacher as she played with her toys. "Child's name, always crying. OMG. Are you a little baby. Now go sit down over there and stop your crying. Childs name, always crying!" The reenactments always indicated that the teacher was yelling and annoyed with the children. We began to receive behavior notices almost daily because our daughter was having a hard time napping. My wife and i took several days off work to try new approaches to occupy her mind during rest time. In which we were told none were allowed because it was not fair to the other children as stated in the first paragraph. "By law they have to lay in their bed for two hours". NOT TRUE! By law YOU have to provide at least a bed and a two hour period for rest. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FORCE THE CHILDREN TO LAY FOR TWO HOURS!! This is about money. Your allowed 24 children to be supervised by only one person as long as they are napping. I spoke with the teacher my self several times to see what the issue might be. I could tell right away that she simply did not want my daughter in her class because she felt inconvenienced by her. She dose not have the skills or patience to deal with children. She even had the nerve to call my daughter THICK HEADED to me. thick·head·ed THikhedd/Submit adjectiveinformal adjective: thick-headed unintelligent; stupid. "what a thickheaded business decision!" SERIOUSLY?? WOW? How uneducated are these teachers?? That was the straw that broke the camels back. The director got involved and began calling us twice a day to report "bad behavior" from my daughter because she would not lay in her cot FOR TWO HOURS STRAIGHT with out becoming restless and stressed because the teacher tried making her lay down by grabbing her, putting her on her lap, etc. This caused my daughter to use her hands and legs to free herself from the teacher. SO NOW MY DAUGHTER "HITS" the teachers. The director never provided any type of option. Here is an idea, how about trying another teacher? Another class? On the last day our daughter attended this pre-school she was taken to the younger class. Funny how she had no problem taking a nap and feeling comforted by a caring teacher. This reviews one is too near and dear to our hearts. WE LOVE THIS SCHOOL. We feel so lucky to have found this preschool. Our son was in a at home day care for most of his life. When we moved to Lakewood We had to find him a new day care center or pre school to go to quick. We decided to go with the one that was very close to our house because of its decent reviews on yelp but that pre school wasn't working out for us. So we did our research And After the visits to all the of the schools we decided to go with Cerritos Lane (even though its a little drive for us) The world can be a big dark scary place, especially when you are a toddler. But Cerritos Lane Pre School has touched our son and our family in ways We could not have imagined. The staffs and school are a part of our family now and forever. You can see it and feel it from the day you take the tour of the school. They have huge playgrounds and very cool, uniquely styled classrooms. But while the facilities are awesome, but it is the teachers (Miss Raquel and Miss Ana Mae) and the director ( Miss Karen ) that really make it works. And you can see how incredible they are from day one. Our son is like most toddlers, HE wasn't ready to jump into the classroom activities with the previous pre school. But NOT when he is at this school. He learns so much from this school. Our son adores his teachers and so do we. They are so obviously professionals with a wealth of experience and training. We ask them all the time about things large and small when it comes to taking care of our son developmental needs or how to handle an issue at home. And the answers they give are always spot on. They really understand what's going on in the minds of their students.We are not kidding when We say that our only problem with Cerritos Lane Pre school  is that they stop at Pre School. We truly wish they offered  a full elementary school. read more

This was the best preschool I have known until recently when one by one they lost good teachers, Ms Karen, Ms Joann and Ms Kasa. My older kid attended this school until June 2014 then from Aug 2014 my younger kid started attending until yesterday. I liked all teachers and the Director Ms Judy was an exceptionally experienced person. After all the good teachers left they hired new ones who are not as caring and experienced. One day my kid (barely 3 years old) started saying he does not want to go school and was crying, which never happened in past, then we found that his knee was hurt in the school and the teachers did not tell us. I removed bandaid from his knee and it was a deep cut. I immediately took him to school and show the wound to all teachers they said they were not aware of it (seriously?? they put band-aid on it!). Ms Judy later called me and apologized about the incident and she promptly reported the incident. The reason I had to pull my kid from here is they rolled out new pricing for all (almost) existing & new students which raised cost to ridiculous amount per week. I went to school to talk about this ridiculous increase but no one will budge, they said "This straight came from the owners and we can't do anything". And they gave me a number to call the management, they tried to convince me that prices are rising for everyone and they need to keep up with the market.. I told them go to yelp and check other schools, they are not charging this kind of ridiculous fee, for this I was told to take my child to that school.. GREAT!! I will. For anyone who is considering this school for their kids, I would suggest go some place else, this school USED TO be good but not anymore. Moreover, now they have rolled out a new form in which parents have to disclose their Driving License number as well as Social Security Number. They do not tell you how they are going to use these sensitive information, SCAM!!!!! DO NOT GIVE YOUR SOCIAL TO THEM THEY ARE NOT LENDING YOU ANYTHING NOR THEY ARE GIVING YOU MONEY. We had our son attend Cerritos Lane for two years when he was younger (from 2010-2012). We loved the warm and nurturing environment and the ABC school district-aligned curriculum in their pre-K class (Miss Ana-Mae's). Our son was not only prepared academically and socially for kindergarten but he is still thriving as a student today. We were so happy with our experience with their preschool program, we now have our 3 year-old daughter attending here as well. I can already see her growth in her first school experience and enthusiasm for wanting to learn more. She loves it so much, she asks if she can see Miss Laura and Miss Carolina over the weekend (!) My personal experience with Miss Judy (the director) has been positive from our first meeting. She is approachable and flexible in working with the parents to ensure that the children's needs are being met. She truly has an open-door policy that has given us a peace of mind as parents. I would recommend Cerritos Lane for anyone seeking the same nurturing and warm environment for your child. read more

Coming off a kindercare chain, this place was breath of fresh air. I'm saving a small fortune sending me 2/3 yr old girls to this pre-school. Now that the pricing info is out the way (not that we can put a price on care our kids receive),,, let me write my honest feedback on this site. Our kids have been here since July and I wanted to wait few month before writing a review and experience first hand how we rate this school. 2 yr old class: SUPER NICE STAFF~ They truly do care for your kid. Staff here are by far the best group of ladies I've ever met. We knew it was love at first sight for our kids when they transition to this school within first 2 days. They didn't even asked to go back to their old school or even mention anthing about missing the old teachers (keep in mind that our kids have been at daycare since they were both 6 weeks old). My little one (2 yr old) loves her class, teachers and her friends. Mr. Joanne (she calls her mama joanne) is probably the nicest teacher we've ever met. Unlike kindercare, teachers to lot of hugging and cuddling with the little ones. They spend many hours doing art project, outdoor play time and reading/music time. Overall experience for my 2 yr old has been above and beyond our expectation. One thing we've noticed is that teachers help eachother out during breaks and stuff and even the sub teacher know your kid very well. This tells me that they're not just watching your kid but building a relationship with them. 4 yr old class: my 3 (almost 4) started off in 3 yr old class and was quickly moved to 4 yr old class. She has learned more in last 2 months than she has in her entire stay at Kindercare. They were able to teach her to write her name, write numbers, shapes, alphabets, etc. Good balance of playtime and study time. Ms. Yasmin is a wonderful teacher. You can tell she's very caring and truly and genuinely cares for your kids. There are 2 classes in 4 yr old team with 2 teachers. Each class is managed separately but their own teacher keeping things consistant. My 3 yr old raves about her teacher and how much fun she has every day. Overall staff: Everyone is very nice and caring. They truly do care about your kids wellbeing. Upside: Lunch and snacks are provided by the school. School has its own cook person- Ms. Brenda (my 2 yr old calls her mama brenda and says she gives them yummy food). They also wash kids crib sheets weekly at no additional cost. This was a eye opening experience for us- we use to pay for lunches and had to bring home laundry each friday and bring back fresh sheets/blankets on monday or would be fined $5/day at kindercare. Ample parking is also availble on the attached lot. In a residential street away from the main traffic. Outside play area is huge (size of a small park) with separated area for each class. They also have plenty of bicycles/ scooter/ toys for the kids. Overall hygene at school is clean as it can be with this many kids. Overall experience- school offers good balance of study time and play time. Kids are hydrated with water and juice (mostly water to keep suger level low). Food service is good (i check the kitchen area once and saw that they were not using generatic brand of food- all brand name stuff).. I would recommend this school to any working parents who perfers to not get called in for every incident. School stuff is very nice and kids are in good hands. Other parents are very nice as well- we always end up talking to other parents exchanign stories and pointing out who's kid is who. We checked the reviews on yelp before visiting the school. I asked about the one bad review on yelp and the center director explain what exactly happened. With a special need child, they're not able to focus fairly on all other kids (understandable). Directors explanation of the bad review was confortable enough for us to sign on and we're happy we did. read more

My daughter attended Cerritos Lane preschool from 2012-2014, age 2-4. I felt she was in an environment where she was loved (yes loved!), cared for and safe. Her teachers were all approachable, nurturing and patient. I don't have even one negative experience to speak of. Academically, she was more than prepared (even ahead) at her new school. Tuition, which included snacks and hot lunches, was one of the lowest in the area. My daughter still asks about her Cerritos Lane teachers and we both happily recommend this preschool. read more

I have 3 kids and all three have spent time at this facility for the past 4 years.. I love the hours they are open (6 to 6) and don't charge you an extra arm and a leg for that. They are also very reasonably priced compared to other places that I have looked at. With that being said, they have progressively gotten better. Like one of the reviews earlier they had a churn in some teachers, while my kids loved Ms Karen and Joanna, I have found that my child that is still there loves her new teachers Ms. Mildred and Ms. Erica just as much. I have noticed an improvement in the educational activities they are doing such as homework (and don't worry it's just coloring numbers and letters - my daughter recently turned 3 for context). If I have any more kids or have anyone ask about preschool places I would definitely recommend Cerritos Lane Pre-K to anyone . read more

This is a wonderful pre-school with amazing staff that care about the kids. The environment is safe, loving and nurturing. There is a big outdoor play area, divided into two sections, with swings, slides and age appropriate play equipment. Ms. Karen at the front desk always greets each kid that walks through the door with a huge smile. She knows every kids name, and that is not an exaggeration! Ms. Anna-Mae in room 5 is a god-send. She has this warmth about her and her joy of teaching is so infectious. She is very patient and so understanding. she worked with us to get my daughter situated. She and Ms. Rachel have daily activities planned out for the kids that include stories, music, letters and alphabets, etc. My daughter comes home from school every day with beautiful artwork and her schoolwork for the day, graded so that I know where she excels and where she needs more assistance. We sit around the living room at night, after homework is done, and my daughter assumes the role of either Ms. Anna-Mae or Ms. Rachel and we act out her school activity for the day (reading time always starts off with "whose book is this"). Because of this pre-school and the amazing teachers and support, my daughter has blossomed from a shy, quiet, afraid to speak little girl, to an outspoken, fun and eager to learn little lady. She is learning her numbers and letters, spelling writing, and low number additions. She loves coming to school every day and is always wishing her weekends away, no kidding. Not once since she started has she said that she would rather not go to school. I don't worry about my daughter when she is here as I have that peace of mind because she is in great hands! I would definitely recommend Cerritos Lane Pre-School to anyone and looking forward to enrolling my youngest one here when he turns two. I only wish this place had a K-6 program! read more
