My previous review was for Cypress Learning Tree, now called Cypress Early Explorers. As a parent who fell in love with the "old school/traditional" feel, I was pretty nervous about the construction and changes that would be taking place. I was blown away by how fast and smooth the transition was and the new classrooms are beautiful! Not only did the school get a facelift, but they also updated everything including utilizing easy to use technology to sign in and out, message faculty and staff and receive photos throughout the day. There have been a few new people but they fit right in and also truly care about each child. I now have my two oldest boys attending school together and couldn't be happier. I tell people that they are blossoming and that is an understatement. Cypress Early Explorers was pivotal in potty training for both of them and were so helpful throughout the process. My boys have not only learned a ton so far but they are confident, are practicing great manners, are making friends and literally don't want to come home. The expense is worth it. I know my boys are safe, growing, happy and loved. That makes me feel so much better (mom guilt is real). If you want to know the truth about this school, read this review. The school gave discounts to parents who gave 5 star reviews of the school to boost their ratings. The first impression of the school is great - i liked the playground and the fact it was open, all the extracurriculars, and the Director Miss Mandy seemed nice and that she knew/cared for the kids. However, if your child is in any way a little more challenging in their behavior, then this is not the school to bring your child. Miss Mandy and the teachers are not equipped or trained to navigate certain behaviors. I can tell you that the transition to TK teachers from the teachers at this preschool you can see the gap in maturity and experience in handling more tricky situations. The school has an "incident report" system to let parents know if there was an incident, accident or behavior matter that they need to let the parents know about. At first it seemed harmless, but it became clear it was a way to justify kicking a kid out of their school or to simply CYA. It was handed to parents daily and to be signed. No one could really give me a honest answer of the purpose. My issue with the incident reports (especially when they were behavioral) was that they were often lacking detail so it became impossible to address the behaviors meaningfully because we were never given adequate and contextual feedback. It usually led to more questions or worries.  For example, one report we were told my child was hit while riding a bike after someone didn't like him saying "Go Away". We were told my son instigated the situation because he kept repeatedly said "Go Away" and that is why the other kid hit him. But my question was, "Was the other child trying to take the bike away from my child? Was my child simply speaking up for himself? Was my child hogging the bike and having a hard time sharing?" There was no conversation with both kids about dealing with disappointment, communicating in a polite way, or about sharing. Instead, I was given a behavioral incident report telling me my child instigated a situation (even though he was the one who got hit). This is just an example of how situations were dealt with at this school - a simple write up with no corrective behavior methods appropriate for a toddler. Often I was told that if my child hit or got handsy with someone, then Miss Mandy's solution was for my child to put his hands in his pocket for a certain amount of time. What does this solve? I personally witnessed Miss Mandy spank my child right in front of me. My biggest disappointment is that the school and staff (especially Miss Mandy), failed my child. They denied it, but they marked my child as a "bad kid" so any incident was likely his fault, vs really trying to understand the root cause, overlooking anything positive. They never gave any positive feedback (only negative reports), and my fear was that my child could develop self esteem issues (Think about bosses you love- praises and celebrates you vs ones that put you down for every little thing?). They never bothered to truly get to know my child. They had already cast him aside. Additionally, my child was never going to learn how to navigate social situations at this school because they are not trained or experienced to correct behavior or understand that most of what was happening was simply developmental behaviors of a toddler. If they truly understood child development, they would have taken a different approach. Hope this helps any parent considering this school. If your child has no typical toddler behaviors, this might be the school for you. If your child has any typical toddler behaviors, this isn't the school for you and I would strongly recommend to look elsewhere where they can get the support they need from more experienced staff. read more

Our son has been attending Cypress Early Explorers (formerly Cypress Learning Tree) for a year now and we're so grateful for the entire staff. Everyone is very welcoming and attentive to all the children. Our son has a couple food-related allergies (peanut and dairy) and they do their best to accommodate. Over the past few months, they have renovated the classrooms and made some improvements to the large play yard. There is also a centralized app (Brightwheel) where parents receive important updates, make payments, receive photo updates, and check-in/out their child/children and I have not run into any issues so far. Parking can be a bit busy on random occasions but they have enforced a new rule that prevents cars from blocking the main driveway and there's plenty of street parking if the actual spots are taken. We're lucky enough to walk to CEEP on occasion but when we do drive, there's almost always parking available for a quick pick up or drop off. Lastly, the curriculum and schedules are very well-balanced and our son always comes home sharing exciting updates about what he learned, what he saw, and/or what kinds of arts and crafts he worked on. I could keep going but I'll end this review by highlighting the excellent operation here and how happy my child (and my wife and I) feel about Cypress Early Explorers Preschool. read more

My daughter has been at CEEP for a few months now. Like most parents, I was very nervous about putting her in childcare. That feeling quickly diminished when I saw how much my daughter enjoyed attending. Not only are the teachers great, nurturing, and caring, but they provide parent feedback and encourage parent involvement with various activities for the holidays. They use an app called Brightwheel and they sent any communications and videos through the app, making it very easy to keep up to date and in contact. We have been at CEEP since September of 23 and we couldn't be happier with this school. From the staff to the curriculum to the extra curricular activities CEEP goes above and beyond. Our daughter has learned so many new skills and can't wait to come hone and share the letters she learned or all the colors in Spanish. My son has been going to this school for almost three years and I can say this was the best decision we have made for him. We are so grateful that my son was able to spend his toddler time there. When my son was 18 months, we visited this school for a tour and we immediately put our name in the wait list. At that time the list was very long. But fortunately during the pandemic, we were able to have my son start this school. He wasn't so happy with his previous daycare so I could see the huge difference. He was happy from Day 1! He started toddler's class (2 years old), went through the smooth toilet training, learned how to socialize with his friends, and now in Pre-K class getting ready for the kindergarten. He now can read and write alphabet, count numbers, communicate well with friends and teachers. He even enjoys his weekly homework! Thanks to all the amazing teachers here, he feels safe and comfortable in the school environment. All teachers listen to students patiently and treat them equally. This is a great place for kids to grow, not just academically but also socially as a good person. I am sure this experience will be a big part of his foundation. I am so grateful. My 2.5 year old has only been going here for about a month, but I can already say this school is a million times better than my daughter's previous daycare down the street. We toured many schools in the area and decided this one aligns with our values. My wife and I toured quite a few preschools in Cypress, Los Alamitos and Buena Park. We decided to send our son to Cypress Early Explorers and we couldn't be happier with our decision! My son has been going to Cypress Early Explorers for almost 3 weeks now and while it has taken some adjusting, he is enjoying his time here. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. Ms. Mandy is supportive and understanding of all the emotions involved when thrusting your child into a new environment. I am deeply saddened by the fact that today is our daughter's last day at this school. It's been such a positive experience for our family, I hate to see it end. The director and all the teachers have been so kind and supportive of our little girl. I'm afraid she won't have such nice people to help her when she goes to a public kindergarten next week. Despite our daughter having ASD and speech delay, the teachers tried their best to work with her. Ms. Mandy, the director, even allowed us to bring in our own therapists to help our daughter at the school. Our daughter made great progress due to all the love and support she received from this school. Even her classmates were very helpful. When the teachers couldn't get our daughter to use the school toilet, they decided to have one of her classmates help her. After that she had no problem using the toilet. The school itself is well organized, clean, and has a vibrant burst of energy. Even on a rainy day it still felt like there was sunshine hovering over the school. From outside the school looks pretty small, but it's actually quite big inside. It has a large outside play area with different playgrounds for different age groups. There's plenty of outside playtime so kids are getting enough physical activity. One cool thing about this school is they allow parents to bring in jumpers for their kid's birthday, and allow all kids to enjoy it. There's a keypad on the front door, which leads to the front office where Ms. Mandy sits. There's another door to get to the main school area. The door handles are installed high so the kids can't open them on their own. I haven't seen this done at other preschools. Security-wise, there are several areas people have to walk through to get to where the kids are, so someone will recognize if there's a stranger lurking in the school. Ms. Mandy and teachers know all the kids and their parents. Unlike our daughter's last preschool, this place has kid size toilets and sinks. There's also a daily cleaning crew that comes in around 4 p.m. to clean all the classrooms. None of the classrooms ever smelled like poop or urine as a result. I'm so thankful for this because the last school always smelled like urine. Only negative thing is there's no paid lunch program. There used to be one that was provided through the school district, but it was canceled when the district decided to double the price. Pizza Friday is still an option for $2.50. I truly believe that a school takes on the personality of the director or principal. Everything filters down from the top. I believe Ms. Mandy has genuine love for the kids at her school as it's reflected in all the teachers and staff. Even the school building and play area have a warm and inviting feel. She also seems like an efficient business person because the school runs smoothly with no indication of financial problems. We were never asked to donate additional funds or participate in fundraising events. Our daughter doesn't talk much but she always mentioned all her teachers' names when she got home. She didn't do that at her previous school. We know she will miss this school and all the teachers who worked with her. We plan to enroll our son here in two years, when he turns three. So I guess it's not a complete goodbye. read more

The yelp reviews here were really good, so it was my first choice when I moved back into the area. Ms Mandy is very easy to talk to and I have no worries about coming to her regarding an issue or a question. When I did the walkthrough with her she told me that they use "the good parts of Montessouri" for their classroom. Ms Kaitlyn is personable and exudes warmth and magic and is my daughter's favorite. The kids always look like they are having a blast. The teachers all say hi to my daughter and welcome her warmly. The school focuses on being multicultural and inclusive and I value that highly. Their play yard is amazing with lots of grass and a couple large trees, pretend cars, tricycles, a garden, a large sandpit and a play set. read more

There are not enough words to describe the amount of gratitude and love I have for Miss Mandy and her staff! My son comes home happy and excited about all the things he has learned at school. He has made new friends and always gets greeted when he arrives with smiles and hugs. He is so loved here, and I am never worried leaving him here. I know my son is taken care of, and I know that they all genuinely care for him. I love all the gifts and crafts he comes home with, and love hearing about his day with Miss Donna and friends. I toured a few preschools before I decided to enroll my son here. From the beginning, Miss Mandy was so welcoming and loving. The program is the perfect mix of curriculum and outdoor play time. After researching and visiting a few other preschools, my husband and I decided to enroll our 2.5 year old son at Cypress Learning Tree. We are so pleased we did and can not say enough how thankful we are for their presence in our son's life. My son has had some emotional mornings but the teachers (especially Ms. Bonnie) are always so comforting and nurturing. His teacher, Ms. Missi is amazing. You have to have something special when dealing with that many 2 year olds. I can barely handle my one. She was even the one who told us our son was ready to be potty trained and set us up with a plan of attack. We can't thank her enough for that. Our son is at preschool for 10+ hours a day and it has been such a huge relief/blessing for us to know that our son is in very capable and caring hands. Ms. Mandy, the director is personable, organized and interacts with the kiddies. My husband and I immediately noticed during our initial tour that she knew all the names of the kids. Tuition is affordable and competitive with the nearby preschools. Although the tuition does not include lunch, you can order through the Cypress School District for a reasonable price. The tuition includes breakfast and an afternoon snack which is especially appreciated during those rushed mornings where we don't have time to feed our son breakfast or when he is just not ready to eat as soon as he wakes up. The school is clean and is well equipped. They have a variety of outdoor play equipment and toys. All the staff we've encountered are awesome. Super engaging with the children. My son loves Ms. O and Ms. Gloria. We've had the pleasure to witness our son's growth since he has attended Cypress Learning Tree (4 months). Our son was very verbal before but we've noticed his speech to be clearer and he is able to speak in complete sentences and ask questions beyond the normal why. Love that they have monthly themes and activities/crafts as well as the special events they coordinate such as a Halloween parade, Thanksgiving feast, and even a Santa's Workshop which was held on a Saturday. I love this preschool and can't say enough good things about it. The teachers really care about the kids which is a great feeling on the rough drop off days. I say this because my older son attends a before and after daycare center at his local school, and those teachers are not nearly as concerned with comforting an upset child. I wish they were as caring as the ladies at CLT. CLT also allows parents to have a jumper at the school on their bday which all the kids get to enjoy & they have monthly bike days where kids bring their own bikes, how awesome is that? Plus weekly water play days and plenty of shade in large grassy play yard during summer (not a concrete jungle!). Pricing is competitive and location near Lincoln Ave, which can be off-putting to some, is basically a non-issue once inside. Even the nightly clean up crew is super friendly and they do a phenomenal job of keeping the place tidy. Highly recommend! read more

There is something to be said about being old school! This preschool is a total throw back to my childhood. A lot of free play, imagination, story book time, naps, friends and mostly fun. My son joined preschool here at 2.5 years. Prior to that he was only with grandparents. He did cry for 1.5 weeks but after that he was fine. Some days he didn't even want to go home. The teachers here are incredibly kind, gentle and genuinely caring. I was extremely worried about his transition to care outside of his grandparents and they did everything they could to keep him calm and feel secure. I always stayed a little behind after drop off and peaked. The teachers held his hand, let him sit on their lap...just everything I would do to comfort him too. My oldest son who is now 8 years old attended Cypress Learning Tree, now his brother currently goes to CLT. They both love their preschool. The place opens from 6:30am to 6pm. They serve breakfast at 8am and snacks in the afternoon. They have fun indoor and outdoor activities for the kids. Finding this place is a blessing for me because when I leave my kids there, I know they are in good hands. I'm truly grateful that we found CLT! The teachers are great at their jobs. The staff are very accommodating and very efficient. Great environment! If you are looking for a preschool for you child, this school is the place to be.
