A 5 man team arrived promptly at 7 in the morning. Very quick setup time and old shingles removed quickly and new roof along with 4 replacement boards completed by noon. I was amazed with the quality and the quick turnaround in the job. I would definitely recommend Cenvar to anyone in need of a new roof or any roof repair. First off, I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother regarding her experiences with Cenvar Roofing. She [my mother] is an active 73-year-old woman who recently had the misfortune of learning she had a severe leak in her roof that was causing significant internal damage to her home. Fearing the costs associated with roof repair or even a potential replacement, my mother attempted to repair the problem herself by replacing the shingles. Her 13 yr old grandson recorded her on the roof doing the work herself and then he sent the video to me. I was so proud of her strength and ability that I wanted to show her off to the world. Therefore, I sent the video to the local news stations with the hope they would run a story on her. Once WDBJ7 broadcast her story, Cenvar Roofing management saw it and stepped in immediately, offering to take care of her situation at NO CHARGE to her. From the moment that Cenvar associates stepped foot onto mom's property to the day they completed the roof repair, she said "every crew member was friendly and treated her [job] as if she were a paying customer". Additionally, the associates saw that mom's home did not initially have gutters or downspouts either. Management decided to surprise her with brand new gutters and downspouts to ensure mom's house would not experience any follow-on damage due to un-channeled rainwater. Today, my mom [and stepdad] are over the moon and love the work that Cenvar Roofing did for them in their time of need. She admits that she enjoys watching the rainfall now and seeing it flow from her roof to the gutters, down the drain spouts, and away from her home. This was truly a gift that Cenvar Roofing gave to her, the ability to rest easy knowing that her roof was professionally and expertly repaired, and a little extra work was done all to support a member of the community. I contacted Cenvar through Yelp, I was told "I'm out of there service area". This makes no sense when Yelp referred them and they have a project completion sign, advertising their work in a previous customer's yard just a few miles away. I guess they don't want the work. 1n 2019 I went to the Roanoke VA Cenvar roofing sales office in Vinton with my house plans to get a roofing quote from Cenvar for my new home at SML. I took with me my building plans including a roof plan and my other requirements for the specific type and color shingles, peel and stick ice and water shield for the valleys and starter edges, the Ridge vent, and details re the flashing needed. I gave these to the sales/technical Cenvar employee who prepared a quote for me which was subsequently emailed back to me. In preparation for this I priced out at a big box store all of the exact same components (the exact same shingles, the drip edge, the necessary flashing components, the correct quantity of ice and water shield for the roof valleys and also for the first course of shingles, the starter shingles for the first row, the ridge capping shingles, and the ridge vent for all of my roofing needs. I didn't need any underlayment because I was using the Zip roofing panels waterproofed with zip tape. The total of all of these components was $13,600 if I purchased these myself at a Big Box store. I was assuming that a roofer would actually get better pricing on the exact same materials that me. This pricing ($13,600) gave me a baseline to evaluate the quotes that I received. Because this was a new home, Cenvar would incur NO costs to Remove Existing shingles, buy or install underlayment, hauling old shingles to dump and dump fees, or replacing any rotten or defective sheets of old roof structure. This allowed me to determine what the cost of Labor and miscellaneous administrative expenses would be. The quote that I received from Cenvar to roof my home was $41,000 dollars which makes Cenvar's Labor and administrative costs $27,400. I might add that my roof pitch was 8/12, my roofing plan and configuration was not complex, and this was NOT a huge house. I also might add that I priced out the shingles with a professional roofing configurator which gave me the output in squares. I also double checked this with the roofing square foot configurator which also takes all of the roofing variables into play (overhang, roof pitch, and joined perpendicular roofs). I was VERY familiar with the house plans because I drew them. After this Cenvar quote which seemed UNREASONABLE to me I went to a local medium size roofing company who has been in business for many years, has great reviews and a long track record with all things necessary for roofing. I gave them the same plans with the same requirements plus I asked them also to price the install of 4 skylights and 2 sun tubes. Their price quote came back to at a total of $24,500 which is $16,500 less than Cenvars quote. The reason that I am writing this review is because it is absolutely is a MUST to at LEAST get one or more additional Roofing quotes from other roofers in your area instead of buying Cenvars advertising hype and possibly paying WAY TOO MUCH for your new roof. In my example I saved 40% by NOT using Cenvar. read more
