I never write reviews but Michael's lack of professionalism has inspired me. When I told Michael the freon line for our air conditioner was damaged he didn't show any concern. When I told him the HVAC guys thought that one of several contractors could have caused the damage including, the painter, fence company, deck installer siding installer or electrician and all of those contractors agreed to split the cost of fixing the freon and would he be willing to pay a portion he didn't respond. When I deducted $199 (a fraction of the amount) from his invoice and said if he didn't agree with this he could email me his rationale and I would forward it to the other contractors who would split his amount among them he told me "I never agreed to this, $199 is still the balance that is due. If not paid in full Monday our legal team will be filing a lean on the property." He has been disconcertingly aggressive and unprofessional throughout all interactions with him. I can't strongly enough advise that you DON'T HIRE this company. read more

These guys were great, they were quick to respond to my inquiry about an estimate. They got me the quote the next day and I was able to get my fence replaced quickly after that. This is an updated review and response to the owner's comment below: Mike, I'm shocked and disappointed you would blatantly lie about this situation in a public forum. First, I did not hollow out any of the holes in the fence--that's crazy! I would not purposefully damage my own fence for any reason and it's beneath you to fabricate such lies to rationalize the poor quality of your wood. I brought the holes to Dennis' attention while he was still installing the fence. I called you immediately afterward. We have since found a number of knots that were about to fall out and have glued them in with wood glue. Kind of sounds like you knew there were problems with the wood and decided to blame that on me. Unbelievable. Second, I did not promise not to write a bad review--this topic never came up in our conversations. Third, I did not apologize to Dennis. The apology from another household member had nothing to do with the poor quality of your product but rather to her reaction when she found out you offered the old fencing on Craig's list without our knowledge and consent. The idea that strangers would come to our home to haul away wood we paid you to remove was shocking to her and she reacted how one might imagine. She only apologized later because she is a good person and is willing to take responsibility for her own actions. You both could learn from her. I thought you were a person of integrity who at least attempted to make things right. While replacing 30 pickets myself is not my idea of fun, especially when I paid you to install them, I appreciated your offer and told you as much. The fact that you can't accept responsibility for the quality of your materials and use this information to improve your business is certainly disappointing. They did a good job, but hit a plumbing line I had no idea was there as I had just moved into the house. Unfortunate and there's a line item in the contract that makes it your issue rather than having company insurance cover it. So, just be aware if you don't know your plumbing lines it could be an expensive repair for you if they hit a sewage line. The work was done in a timely manner and everyone was very nice. They had to do a few changes due to the fact that I have a horrible sense of how many feet of fence I needed having just purchased the house, but they added to the original plan (adding appropriate costs) but managed to get it all done that same day. read more

I appreciate the prompt replacement of our 22 year old privacy fence. We opted for the horizontal cedar and are quite pleased with the outcome. Mike was quick to respond with a reasonable quote and the work was completed ahead of schedule. The workmen were friendly and very careful with cleaning up all debris from old fence. I shopped around for several quotes and settled on Century Fence because--- 1) communication is great 2) they work with you to get a competitive quote when you have other offers 3) the reviews on here were great! I had a standard cedar fence put up to replace the one that was falling apart due to the cedar posts rotting in the ground. Century Fence's standard is to set them in concrete so that they aren't exposed to wet soil all the time, and they use pine posts by default, which are less prone to rot. I chose cedar pickets because they are less prone to warping over time (though they are a bit more costly). All in all, we got all the kinks worked out, and the fence was built well, with high-quality screws instead of nails, prompt service, clean-up and professionalism. I'd recommend them to anybody shopping around for a fair, honest and competitive fence builder! read more

The two guys that installed the wooden fence were not very professional and they took the short, easy route of installation. Instead of pulling up the old, wooden posts, they sawed them off at ground level. Overall, the fence is nice, but I would never use this company again. read more

Updated review. 4/8/17 - Mike finally called me back - only because of my Yelp review. He did explain that his company, although they reportedly do repairs, they also have minimums in place that require at least five new posts. He is the owner, and this is a business decision so I can respect that. However, he said that since my call was after 5 p.m. and went to voicemail, he does not check after hours calls. Personally, I am not sure why a business would have voicemail if they do not plan to check it, but maybe that is just me. So if you want to be a customer - just make sure to call him between 8-5 or do not expect a return call. If you do get a hold of him, he will do a good job for you. read more

Century Fence built my fence in two days and their quote was lower than several other contractors w/ no sacrifice to quality as far as I can tell. They used three supporting cross beams on 6 inch Cedar pickets and pressure-treated pine wooden posts. I'll check back in a year to let y'all know if I am still as happy as when I wrote this, but as of right now, I just don't see how they could have possibly done a better job. I've used Century twice (in 2013 and 2018) and have had positive experiences both times. The price is not the cheapest or the most expensive, but the quality of work is fantastic. They use high quality materials and processes and avoid cutting corners. They also explained the differences between the types of fencing and allowed me to come to my own conclusion about the best fit for me. We sought out many bids to replace our fence. Mike came out, and quickly beat most of the offers. He listened and understood our concerns about our irrigation system (drip lines extremely close to the fence line) and assured us they wouldn't harm anything without repairing it. Y'know, I was just doing some yard work today and thinking that I sure did wind up with a nice fence. I think it's been about 4 or 5 months now since I had that fence put in, and I'm really happy with it. It was a good price for thicker boards too. Mike came out and met with me and my neighbors so we could plan some things out. And afterwards he helped me get the bill all split up since I had neighbors on two sides chipping in for their portions of the fence. Century Fence had an easy online estimate process but, most importantly, followed up with an onsite visit and hard estimate.
