Our family had a very awful experience with one of your realtors, Linda Francis Pierson. She wasn't…read moreour realtor but she was our landlord. Our family rented her townhouse at 1503 N. St. Marks Pl., Palatine 60067 for one year. It was the most horrible rental experience. Everything and anything went wrong in the place. The appliances were old, the washing machine wasn't working when we moved in, the dryer wasn't drying clothes properly after a while, we had ants, the garage door worked improperly, the toilet seats constantly fell off, the toilet handle was improperly installed on one of the toilets. The carpet was soiled in the basement but, insisted it was cleaned. The window blinds were old and always falling down. One of the balcony doors leaked constantly when it rained. The stair banister handle broke. The master bedroom closet shelving broke down not once but twice. The kitchen faucet broke. Every time we had to contact her with the many of the problems we had it was always questioned in "what did you do?" It was a hassle to get anything repaired or replaced. After all this, we decided to vacate at the end of of our lease. We had the property clean, and everything was in working condition and we had the carpets professionally cleaned. It was horrible to get any answers regarding our security deposit of $3000. She took her time and nit-picked everything. Finally we heard a response from her claiming that we damaged her property, especially the refrigerator and the stove, and didn't clean her carpet well enough. These appliances were old but they weren't damaged and they were in working condition. She thinks that they were damaged so she had to purchase a new refrigerator and stove and have the carpet re-cleaned and that cost us a $1000. After getting our remaining $2000 security deposit back. She fixed up her place on our dime and is now selling her property as well as renting it out! She shouldn't be a realtor or a landlord! Don't buy or rent this place!

I had already been looking…read moreto ditch my agent at the time, mostly because he was not listening to me and he was pushing us towards a decision that he would make, not necessarily a choice we wanted. (We moved from the city to North Shore-a big decision for us as we've been downtown for over a decade, and still love it). Then we ran into Steph/Beth at another subsequent open house. I'd had enough with my old agent's pushy/slime-y salesmanship and we had built a quick and comfortable rapport with Beth/Steph. The decision was clear, for buying in the North Shore, we would begin a working relationship with Beth/Steph. Over the course of two years, they graciously guided us through searching, knowing the whole time we may not end up pulling the trigger for a long time. That didn't matter to them, they weren't hunting for a deal. They were fighting for our best interests, which I love. Never pushy, always helpful and always patient. In my experience, you don't often see that with realtors. You often get the hard sell, desperation mode style of pitching a deal. That hard sell and aggressive tactics tells me as a customer that they don't really care about the client, they just care about their commission. Stephanie and Beth are the polar opposite and we consider ourselves lucky to have had a few chance run ins that turned into a fruitful working relationship. Win-Win through and through. No matter what end of a real estate transaction you're on, Beth and Stephanie have all my praise and confidence in stewarding a client from start to finish.

I contacted the Leslie McDonnell Team since I'd received their postcards in the mail over the years. They were very nice on the phone and sent Joan Meredith out to my home to meet me. Joan was wonderful, she talked to me about what I was looking for and what I could expect during the process of looking for a home. That was almost a year ago. Today I closed on my first home. For nearly a year Joan kept in touch with me, e-mailing me new listings in the towns I'd be interested in living in. We went to see at least a dozen properties in all sorts of weather. Joan never made me feel like I was being pressured or like I was wasting her time. She always has a positive attitude. When I finally found the right home for me she was on vacation, but that didn't stop her. She made my deal happen while she was out of town, which I really appreciated. I'd definitely recommend Joan Meredith and the Leslie McDonnell Team.
