I reported mold growing behind the walls, and instead of taking responsibility, he tried to blame it on me, the tenant, even confused me with a different tenant who had mold in their apartment -- even after having maintenance clean it and it came back. That's not a surface problem. That's mold inside the structure I was in apartment 320 just an fyi. To make it worse, this place is deeply unsettling -- and I don't say that lightly. My children and I began experiencing paranormal activity, and it all started after a strange woman began walking past our door who lives in the building!!!! and muttering fast prayers directly at it. It happened more than once. When I told the landlord, he didn't respond. Not even a fake apology. Just silence. Since I moved out, a few tenants have reached out to say she's now praying at their doors too -- and from what I've heard, it's mostly happening at the doors of Black residents. Let that sink in. On top of all this, the building is outdated -- no improvements in 8 years, and yet they're quick to serve you a 30-day notice without cause when it suits them or for fun or as the landlord "Joe" told me "That's just the way the world works sometimes". When I installed a Ring camera for my family's safety, Joe complained and made up a lie that it was "messing up the paint." Truth is, they don't want you having cameras because they're watching you when you don't know it. I brought up the woman's behavior, and that's when he had a problem with my camera after it has been up for 5 years -- makes you wonder. Looking back, I fully believe they were working together, or at least protecting each other. Either way, this place is toxic, unsafe, and possibly dangerous in more ways than one. I'm grateful to be out of there, living in peace now. But if you're thinking of moving in -- don't say I didn't warn you.

All calls have been completed the same day; the apartments are well-maintained and larger than most. The staff here is fantastic - responsive, friendly, and thorough. Special thanks to Jessica, Miguel, and Jose who took good care of us for years. We also liked the location. We had a pretty view of Crooked Lake eight months out of the year and a peaceful forest around us the remainder of the year. There's a dog park across the street if your dog gets bored of the other dogs in the complex, and Hastings Lake Forest Preserve right behind the complex. There's a nice playground across the street too. You can also walk to the Butera grocery store, Lake Villa Library, and other places in Lindenhurst. This is a great place to live.

Just verbal, they have done nothing. But harass me for the last three months that I have been living here, and I can honestly say that I have paid my rent every month on time every time and that does not matter they will harass you if they don't like you .i would not move here this place is over priced and a scam and they violate tenant's rights left and right. It's ridiculous.

They manage Hickory Manor, Northgate Apartments, Eagle Ridge and any Monarch apartment buildings be aware there will harass you especially if you have a disability and have a caretaker or a person of color with a disability. I have an autistic adult brother that I care take and I bought him to the pool and they absolutely were so nasty and mean to me because I wasn't on the lease. Matter of fact even in the beginning they harassed us for moving boxes in the day he signed the lease. And It actually never stop from there he and his company (which would often be me since I do caretake) would continue to get harassed by management. Patiently waiting for the lease to end so I can get my poor little brother out of that horrible managed apartment complex. I'm trying to convince him to spend a little more money and break the lease and pay it forward so hopefully he ends up leaving sooner. The best word of advice I can give you is to absolutely do not sign a lease there they will glitter it up all the way until you sign the lease and then from there they will harass you.

I rented a place in January. I was shown the model and was very impressed. The location and the…read moremodel are very nice. I asked to see the unit that I would move into and was told that they were not permitted to show it to me. I also asked very specifically to make sure it would not smell like smoke. I was told "all of our units are non-smoking, so you don't need to worry about that." I took their word for it. 6 weeks later I had already ordered all new furniture and decor based on the floor plan. It was all arriving on the day I could move in. When I opened the door to my new place, it was a shock and very disappointing. Here are the issues I found waiting: - The unit STUNK of smoke. It smelled worse than a 70's dive bar. Smoke and tar was still visible on surfaces. Smoke stains and tar were visible on windows, screens, and everywhere. It was disgusting. - They had done a very crappy paint job. Paint was splattered on the hardwood floors, on the counter tops, and all over the place. Major gaps in the paint were visable. - Water stains were visbable on the drywall near the sink. - Shelves were missing from my cabinets. - There was no washer or dryer in my unit even though they were supposed to be included. It took weeks to get the basic issues fixed. The place still stinks like smoke and they don't seem to care. The maintenance team actually told me that they laughed about 'Dead Fred' that was the previous tenant. They called him dead Fred because they all knew he was a chain smoker and walked around with his oxygen and cigarettes all day. They obviously knew the place stunk of smoke. When I complained about how bad it was, the offered nothing in return or compensation. No consideration was given. They only offered to mask the smell with air fresheners. After I insisted more be done, they attempted to clean the old AC/heating units and ducts. It made very little difference. When I asked about getting a garage, it took weeks for them to find out if there was even one available. When you ask for help, they talk about being short staffed. The office staff is nice, but they can't get anything done in a timely fashion. All the evidence is that this place is really poorly managed. The maintenance staff is different people every time you turn around. Stay away - it's not worth the money or the aggravation. It's a shame, because the facilities could be really nice. It's a trap.

I have lived in this community for 15 months and initially had very high hopes for calling this…read moreplace home for the foreseeable future. The property is beautiful, and the apartments themselves are fantastic--I love my space and have no complaints in that regard. However, my experience with the management and operations here has been far from stellar, and tonight's dangerous situation has pushed me to speak out. Ongoing Issues: "Smart Home" Fee: Residents are charged $55 monthly for this feature, yet mine has never worked since I moved in. Despite spending hours on the phone with the hosting company and sending countless emails to management, nothing was ever resolved. I eventually gave up. Mailroom Fees: While we're charged monthly for a mailroom and locker service, my packages haven't been placed in a locker for months, leaving me to question what exactly we're paying for. Walking Path: One of the property's selling points is its walking path, which I was excited about when I moved in. Unfortunately, it was allowed to grow over and become completely unusable. Multiple emails to inquire about plans for upkeep were ignored. AC Failure: On one of the hottest days this past summer, my thermostat died, leaving me without AC. While I can tolerate some discomfort, it was unsafe for my pets. It took three follow-up emails and an in-person visit to finally get someone's attention and address the issue. While all of these things were disappointing, I was willing to overlook them--until now. Negligent and Dangerous Incidents: Locked Out While Traveling: Last summer, I was in Denver, and a friend checking on my animals accidentally locked the keys inside my unit. When the keypad also malfunctioned, she was stranded. I placed an emergency ticket but was repeatedly told no one could help her because she wasn't a resident. After multiple calls and pleading, I was told someone could get a key--but only in an hour. I eventually troubleshot the keypad myself remotely, but the situation was unnecessarily stressful and could have been avoided with proper support. Tonight's Incident: This evening, with temperatures at 20°F, I rushed out of my apartment with my hands full and accidentally locked my purse, keys, and wallet inside. I submitted an emergency ticket and received a call from the same maintenance tech who "helped" last summer. He curtly told me, "There's nothing I can do. I can't prove you're a resident." Despite reminding him of last summer's situation, he claimed he got in trouble for helping me back then and suggested I wait for someone. I live alone. I had no way to contact anyone or keep warm. The building buzzers don't work, so I couldn't even reach a neighbor. This property's policy essentially left me stranded outside in dangerous, below-freezing temperatures with no assistance. I waited over 30 minutes, freezing, and unable to feel my hands, before calling the police. Thankfully, the fire department came and let me inside. At least they care about residents' safety--something I cannot say about management. Final Thoughts: The lack of response, accountability, and concern for residents' safety is unacceptable. Tonight's incident was not only inconvenient but could have had serious health implications. This property's policies need urgent review to prevent other residents from experiencing the same negligence. Management should prioritize safety, accessibility, and communication--right now, it feels like these are afterthoughts.
