Did not like that they let the child decide if they wanted to receive treatment. They are the professional and why leave it to the child.

I sought out Kay after a long and difficult journey with disordered eating, including significant…read moreweight loss, partial regain, and nearly a year of amenorrhea and hormonal imbalance. At the time, my primary goal was to rebuild a healthy relationship with food while supporting my recovery and overall health. From the beginning, I clearly communicated these goals. Despite this, I was placed on an extremely restrictive plan of approximately 1,300 calories per day. Given my history, this approach was not only inappropriate but harmful. My primary care doctor (who had been closely involved in my recovery) reviewed the plan and expressed serious concern. Within just a few days of following the plan, I experienced a rapid decline in my mental and physical health, including severe depression, anxiety, and a resurgence of disordered eating thoughts. This was especially distressing after the progress I had made over the prior months. When I shared this with Kay, she adjusted the plan slightly, but it remained insufficient for my activity level and recovery needs. At the time, I was dancing multiple times per week, doing Pilates, and strength training, making the prescribed intake unrealistic and unsustainable. As my condition worsened, I asked my mother to join a call for support. She had been closely involved in my recovery and was trying to help me advocate for myself. During and after this interaction, Kay was dismissive of my decision to involve her, emphasizing that her contract was solely with me. While I understand professional boundaries, the tone and handling of the situation felt demeaning given the context of my health concerns. Kay offered a $500 credit toward supplements through her platform, but this required purchasing through her directly, which did not feel like a meaningful resolution. She also stated I could resume working with her in the future. After reviewing everything again, my primary doctor strongly advised me to discontinue Kay's plan immediately. She also sent a formal letter requesting at least a partial refund, acknowledging that while some work had been done, the plan had caused clear harm. That letter went unanswered. It has now been over six months without any response. I respect that practitioners deserve compensation for their time. However, in this case, the outcome was a significant setback to my health after only a few days on the program. I am sharing this experience in the hope of both accountability and resolution.

I came in contact with Perfect Solution based on my mother's recommendation. I was not overweight,…read morebut had done my annual wellness exam and was surprised that my cholesterol & LDL levels were very high (over the "accepted normal limit"). I thought that it was because it may have been hereditary considering my mother had the same issue (though she successfully lowered both her levels back to normalcy with a nutrition plan). Instead of having the doctor prescribe medication to lower cholesterol & LDL, I decided to do a nutrition plan for three months. In the beginning I was a bit skeptical because I thought I had a good balanced diet, nutrition & exercise plan (since I was fit due to all the exercise I did). While consulting with Cecilia, I learned that even though I was "eating healthy" I was combining the the wrong types of foods & superfoods in my meals which were the culprits & reason for my high cholesterol, triglycerides & LDL. Not only did I learn how to eat well, but was also educated on what a "true" healthy nutrition plan for me was. Cecilia took the time to teach me what types of meals (plant based vs. animal based proteins worked for me). Additionally she educated me on what types of foods to eat to not loose my muscle mass. Overall, I learned that this wasn't a "3 month plan" but a lifestyle change. At the end of my 3 month plan, and after new blood work, I was able to accomplish an my goal of lowering my cholesterol (from 215 to 164), LDL (from 116 to 105) & Triglycerides (273 to 56). Again, even though you work out, are "fit & lean" and might not be "over weight", you can still have high cholesterol, LDL, or triglyceride problems due to how you are combining fitness shakes & "healthy meals". I highly recommend Perfect Solutions, regardless of what your situation may be, but if you want an alternative to medication for a similar situation (high cholesterol), their nutrition education is proven to work.

I'm no athlete, yet Kenny manages to work with my limited capabilities to get me stronger and more flexible. After little more than 8 weeks (despite me ignoring diet or aerobic exercise discipline), I managed to lose over 4% body fat working out three times a week with Kenny! I also lost over 2 inches on my hips-- and I'm 57! Now I am encouraged to keep going, to lose the weight I've gained since menopause, and to keep getting stronger and get my full range of motion back. With Kenny's training and expertise I get to benefit from diet recommendations (gum had carbs, who knew?) and yes, even aerobic exercise. I'm going to try jump roping with one that has a counter in the handle. I'm looking forward to being leaner and fitter in 2019.

The word "Smoothies" kept popping up on an electronic sign outside a shopping center I pass…read morefrequently. On hot days, I would stare into the shopping center, trying to locate the store that promised to deliver fruity, healthy goodness. There was pizza, Indian food, and an assortment of boring service shops, but no smoothie store. Finally, I pulled in one day and slowly drove around the complex. I found a narrow shop with the simple word, "Nutrition" above the door. Was this the place? I sure hoped so. Upon entering, I found a comfortable atmosphere, complete with a leather sofa and some tables, along with a bar area. The owner, Michael, welcomed me in and I located a menu with more than 20 protein shake flavors. I was in the mood for a cold, refreshing pick-me-up, but with 20 grams of protein in one shake, I quickly realized this could be dinner. Michael told me one of his favorite flavors was raspberry cheesecake, which is what I ordered. With options on the menu ranging from Almond Joy to Butter Pecan and Aloha Delight, you are sure to find a flavor that suites your taste. They also offer herbal green tea, healthy snack bars and protein shake mixes. The shake I had was good, delivering plenty of healthy benefits along with an understated, yet rich, flavor. Michael told me that his store isn't necessarily a smoothie bar, but more of a nutrition club where athletes and people looking to lose a few pounds can come for a protein shake and some heart-to-heart with a fitness specialist. Shake It Up has plenty of customers that come in during breakfast and lunch, as well as a sizeable after work crowd. With such little signage, I was surprised that anyone had found this little joint, but Michael told me that most of his customers come via word-of-mouth. He works in his shop as a personal trainer and helps people tone up and lose extra pounds. Usually, they refer friends and stop by for meal replacement shakes. If you are interested in a personal training session, they begin at $40 and go up from there. Michael was exceedingly friendly and willing to chat about my personal health goals. If you are looking to grab a healthy lunch snack, swing by Shake It Up. What's more, you might gain some pointers about how to live better and even find a way to squeeze in some work-out sessions with someone qualified and passionate.

My medical doctors scared the life out of me every time I saw them and were focused on nuking the heck out of the tumor, the rest of my body be damned. I'm hoping I have about another 50 years to live so I want to make sure there's something left of me when the medical doctors are done! Dr. Abdo is brilliant. He is a lifesaver. He gave me hope, which is key. But he also gave me results. My blood tests were consistently great. My red blood cell levels did not take a huge hit during chemo. I had minimal pain and nausea. I had energy to spare during the radiation. I'm done with all that now and he's working with me to make sure I'm healthy and don't have a recurrence of illness. This man is awesome. I have literally trusted him with my life. I worry about his safety and health because I don't know what I would do without him! Seriously! I do want to note that I've never actually met him. I'm in California and I've only had phone visits with him. I do the blood and other tests that he requests and we go through the results together. It works surprisingly well.
