Poor cell connection during the day's travel meant prior calls had not come through that day and a hard deadline was here. Looking ahead on the travel route I picked Mt. Vernon as a place that might have the facilities I required. No e-sign, but print, ink sign, and scan/email (not fax) a document was the time sensitive task before me. I found that office supply chain store listed. A man answering there said the store did not have the capability to have me print a page from email, ink sign, and scan/email. I called this library. After explaining the scenario my call was placed on hold briefly. Upon her return the librarian told me they could help. The two staff involved in helping me achieve this process were pleasant. The only charge was 20 cents for the print of one sheet of paper! They handed me a thumb drive and a staff took care of the scanning. They stayed calm when I was feeling panicked and that helped! Support public funding for public entities including local libraries! They can help you out of a jam you'd never expect to be in. They're an education source and useful through all life stages. It doesn't get too loud. I mean, come on, it's a library! They also have the air conditioning blasting over the summer so it feels great! There are plenty of tables to sit at and read, study, etc with outlets and free wi-fi! The selection of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs are a bit limited but you can always request items from other libraries and you can pick them up at this location which is convenient. The staff members are really friendly and always willing to help you out so I recommend coming here to study, find a good book or to get out of the heat! :)

There are so many books here you could stay all day and still want to come back tomorrow to keep looking. The upstairs is strictly a children library which is nice as sometimes kids have a harder time whispering! It also gives children a space they can go and really enjoy books with ohhs and ahhs. The Children's library also has puppets, trains, dress up clothes, etc. We live in Troy and while the Troy library is our normal stop, about once a month I will take my little one to Collinsville Memorial Library because it is just that great.

It's more than books!…read more The Fairview Heights library offers you to borrow books, Ebooks, music, movies and even video games! Depending on the popularity there maybe a waiting list. They also offer access to computers. Eight computers you can reserve and one express computer. The reserved ones can be used hours at a time while the express allows 30 minutes of access. A variety of classes for kids and adults all year round. I figured the money I spend on books I'm only going to read once is kinda a waste in my end. When I can borrow a book, read it and take it back. Now you do need to stay in the area to get a library card at this location. So proof of residency is required. The librarians are extremely helpful when it comes to locating certain items and they all always full of information. Like... How do you know all this?!? I especially like Ebooks. This way I can download them from my computer to my smartphone or tablet. No need to go to the library physically with the Ebooks; everything is done online! At the end of the day.... Of course I will be back, I have to return a book!

The teens have their own room in the library with plenty of good reading material. They also have a great movie room with a good selection of CD's, DVD's, Blu Ray's and games.
