Another very extremely, awesome find today that totally shocked me, and which I was super…read moreimpressed, the Centralia Library... the main part of the library is over 120 years old, and it was a beautiful building, but the really impressive part, was that they take public libraries seriously!!!! All the rooms are extremely inviting for ALL ages, and they are serious about having kids want to come to the library! They have air hockey, and other games in the teen room, along with cool seating... an absolutely gorgeous, hand painted children's library with games and all sorts of learning experiences...and an infant to preschool library with a lot of learning activities...it amazes me with how amazing and elaborate this library is in this small town, especially when a lot of the town seems run down, and super old school...it's also amazing that they were able to also get a multi million dollar grant from the community for renovations... we were also lucky to have the nice librarian give us a "historical tour" ...I am from California, and I HAVE NEVER SEEN any library like this before, even in the richest of cities, so very impressive

I love this library. Its selection of books is often hit-or-miss if you're looking for something in…read moreparticular, but it's great if you like to roam and stumble upon some gems. The large and historic building feels tucked away on a little brick lane, though it is right in the center of town. Also, and perhaps more importantly, the staff is wonderful. All the women who work there I've encountered are friendly, eager to help, and so nice to me and to each other. I go to this library as often as I can.

I found that it was relatively easy to maneuver throughout the library and that the selection was excellent considering the relatively small size of the library itself. My only complaint is that their overdue charges are absurd- something like 50 cents a day per book, if I recall correctly. The staff is average friendly. The Carbondale library is a-ok in my book!

Fairfield Public Library is a wonderful library! Their collection is up-to-date, and they…read morecontinually add new books. If a book is not in the library, it is often available to be borrowed from another library with their sharing system. One of the staff is glad to assist if needed. It is extremely well worth the cost of a card if one lives outside the city limits, which we do. Only a very few books could be bought for the price of the card. With the card, one may check out 12 books at a time, and keep them 2 wks., or another 2 wks. if renewed, and check out 12 more! Their children's section is inviting and has a great assortment of beautiful books at different reading levels. The library has fabulous summer programs for children! These well-planned and presented programs, often done by professionals, are beyond what a person would expect for a small-town library. Obviously, funds have been spent to bring in great programs. Much work goes into those programs; besides the presenters, volunteers and agencies prepare crafts and activities that go along with the programs. The library also has a summer reading program, and the staff assist and encourage the children, as well as provide organization of record-keeping and prizes. Their reading section for adults provides newspapers and periodicals that can be read in a relaxing atmosphere. The Wayne County Historical Society has many interesting displays in a special room and section. Our library is definitely one of the strongest assets in our community!
