Big thumbs up for our experience at the Centralia Beauty College! My two boys needed to get their hair cut and we'd been looking and searching around at places around the area that we felt comfortable with, would do a good job, and not charge an arm and a leg. I decided to call the Beauty College and got the scoop from the very helpful receptionist and decided to book their appointments. I am very glad we did. From the start, I asked and the receptionist helped me schedule both boys at the same time with side-by-side stylists that were good with kids and during a time of day that wasn't too busy (knowing that a louder and busier time would be way too overwhelming for the kids). We had Nicole and Kenzie as our stylists and both did a great job with the cuts. They were patient, kind, and took their time with the cut and made sure things were okay as they went along. They listens to me as I explained what type of cut we were wanting and to look at the sample pictures that I brought. The boys liked them both too, and said that they felt comfortable and would be good with going back to them again. The prices are great there as well. They have a tiered pricing scale depending on the level of the stylist (Level 1 is the least expensive and experienced stylist and it works up to a Level 5). Nicole and Kenzie were Level 2 (they will undoubtedly move up the scale as they work) and charge just $15 for a cut - and it was 10% off for kids. I'll certainly schedule the boys again and would recommend you give them a shot too. Update: it's been 14 days since I posted. No one has reached out. But each day I have to look at this hack job they allowed to be performed on a client with a student that didn't know basic layering or that she even could use her shears as a guide. After reading reviews, I'm not the only one. If this is how they teach, as a customer stay far away. As a potential student stay far away from this place. I've been using various beauty school salon services since the early 2000's. Not once did I have this big of a disaster. I really hate even posting this because I know it's a school, but I do know practice heads are used first for basics before attempting on a real head. I think the instructor knew a huge mistake happened. I didn't say anything because the girl already cut her finger cutting my hair and I didn't want her to have an even worse day. Hair grows back. I came in for a cut, with layers and face framing. My hair was down past my bum a tad. About 9" off I wanted. I said I wanted the length to be at boob level and showed them. I'm old so they aren't perky at this life stage or shoulder high. Instructor showed her the first steps which I'm used to, but my first indicators that the girl should not be on the floor yet was when the student was told there are guides on the scissors and then shown how to layer. Yikes. As time went on I noticed the student cutting over and over out of the same spots. No longer using the first cut length as her guide when cutting layers. I knew it was too late to stop her and I didn't want to cause a scene by telling her to stop. Damage was done. The instructor came over tried to fix it and did my face framing for the student as if she knew the student wasn't quite there yet. Even though the student told me she's been there for about 6+ months. I came out with more of a blunt bob than a trim with layers and can barely put it in a ponytail. It looks as if 6"more was taken off than I agreed to. I do thank you though for thinking my old girls were chin high still. I'm very hesitant to go back in as that student clearly showed she did not know how to do simple layering and this was her first time and learning on a real head not a mannequin first. 1 star because the instructor was cool and tried to fix it without embarrassing the student. read more

I had my sister who was a student in the 2014-2015 school year cut my hair during her schooling with the beauty college, and have been coming back ever since! The students always seem to be willing to listen to what I want, and have always asked for help or direction if needed. It's been almost 11 years and I've had at least 12 cuts done here! Plus they have amazing hair products and it's a great environment to sit in and not be bored while getting your service done! read more

I hate to leave 1 star but this was the worst experience. I went in for a simple pedicure. The student that I was assigned to had absolutely no clue how to do a pedicure. She could barely take the old polish off. I ended up taking it off my self. Not one time did a instructor come by to check if the student had the correct supplies, Or check her progress. I feel like the student was a little embarrassed I truly felt bad for her. I left with an incomplete pedicure. I No Polish, & did not have the bottom of my feet scrubbed. I wanted to come and support the school because I graduated there back in 1982. I want the owners to be aware that the instructors are not doing their job. read more

Dont ever come here in if you're looking for professional! I have come here off & on for several years and it's always been great. I think there are new owners and it's gone downhill! I came here in Dec '22 for a simple haircut and left feeling terrible. After the student cut it, a teacher came to check it and started cutting it herself and completely hacked it, all while degrading the student! I was so embarrassed for her. Aren't the teachers supposed to have more experience and professionalism? The student was simply doing her job but what kind of establishment treats their students this way? I do not recommend this as a salon, or a school! read more

I don't know how this only has 3 stars. I had a wonderful experience here. I looked on the website and went to the section where they have daily deals and went in for a mani pedi for $15. You cannot find a good deal like that anywhere! The young lady that did my nails for me was trying to get her time in so she could do nails professionally and have her license. I want to say her name was Kayla. She was very friendly and sweet and did a great job on my nails. At the end of the session, her boss came in and asked me to review Kayla. I gave her high marks and really was very pleased overall. I highly recommend this place. It gives the students experience and you get a great deal. They don't get paid though because they are in school, so please leave a good tip! read more

I was looking for someplace close that could work with me on a specific color of red. Tanna was my stylist and she took great care in getting everything just right. I felt confident in her ability but was also thankful that the professors checked in from time to time. The environment is so friendly and positive and the prices are absolutely fabulous. Please remember to tip well - the prices are nowhere near what you would pay at a traditional salon and you get much more attention here. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other services. My hair color cost only $30. What a mega value!! read more

What I got VS what I wanted. I know they're students. I know. But over $70 for this crap??? She botched the MOST noticeable part of my head. And this was a girl who was supposedly graduating soon! Not to mention the girl I made the appointment with was a no call no show and we were waiting 45 minutes to get in BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T ACTUALLY SCHEDULE US. They messed up my daughter's hair, too. Oh. And my hair is wayyyyyy shorter than I wanted cause the front was uneven so she "fixed" her mistake...by cutting it even shorter than the long side. I've learned my lesson. read more

This place is awesome. I wanted a change for my hair and everywhere is so expensive. I got word from my kids high school that they have a program where students can come here and work on a beauty degree and get high school credit. I went to check out the school and to see what the students do. I got my hair cut and colored and it was 1/4 of the price I would have paid in a salon and it turned out beautifully. The girl I had was actually a high school student going through the high school program. I asked questions and she was super friendly telling me about the program. I took my daughter the next week to get her hair done and again it turned out wonderful. Only thing I will say it does take twice as long as a regular salon as they have teachers come and check every step of the process. I personally didn't mind that though, I mean ya gotta learn somewhere but if you are in a hurry this may not be the right place for you. I loved it though. I had my haired foiled and styled by a student Willow, who did an absolutely amazing job! I have gotten so many compliments from friends and strangers who stop me on the street. Of course, I recommend Willow to them. She is very talented and so very nice! If went to a high end salon, I would expect to pay over $150 for the work she does. read more

This is like the coolest place to get your haircut anywhere. I'd rather go there than anywhere else, and that is just in general. When you factor in the price, then it makes all the more great. On Thursdays it is $5, although it is kind of expected to tip well. I always round up to $10, but it is still a bargain. Fun, happy, people. The location of the Centralia Beauty Collge is wonderful. Unfortunately the adorable antique building it is located in his the nicest thing about it. The students work hard and most seem likely to succeed at a career in cosmetology. I however had the unfortunate experience of meeting the owners and experienced firsthand the shady business practices they employ. If you are a highschool student offered the protection of state laws this is the place for you. If you are an older student paying out of pocket just know that your training can be terminated at anytime for any reason. Most instuctors are unprofessional and arrived straight out of the beauty school without real salon experience. If you are a paying customer I would recommend the couple of extra dollars to get your hair done by someone with a little more experience. read more

I had my hair cut by a student for only $6.50 and she did better than the gal who used to cut my hair in a salon for $20! It makes sense..... I mean, these stylists are earning their certification in this art, so they take extra care of you and your hair to get passing grades. I tipped $5 and I get compliments on the style change regularly!! I WILL come back for my next cut!! read more

Honestly, if I could give less than one star I would. To start with the instructors and older stylists were extremely unprofessional, they spoke about how they couldn't wait to get off and go drinking, shouting loudly to other stylists about how they wanted beer and cigarettes. I would be embarrassed as a manager. Then for my nails, it was a joke! My "French tips" looked like they were done by a toddler, uneven, lumpy and there was actually paint on my surrounding finger. I immediately went home and took it right off. I could've done it better myself, drunk, on a cruise ship. COMPLETELY LAUGHABLE and a total waste of money. Even for a school. $22 for a mani/pedi even if that's cheap, they should've paid me for the polish and polish remover I had to rush out and buy to fix their horrendous job. Yikes. read more

My 6 yr old and I were enjoying a day trip to centralia when we happened upon the beauty college tucked away amid antique stores and historic buildings. For the fun of it we stepped inside. Within minutes 2-3 charming gals were giving my daughter the royal treatment. They were so kind and competent. They gave her a stunning French twist (at her request) and then topped it off with a sweet flower in her hair. The price: $6.00 !!!! Unbelievable! We will be back ...and if you should make it over there be sure to tip your stylist generously as they don't earn income from the salon. read more
