Walking in a week before prom, I was concerned we were SOL but as long as we were ok with the traditional black tux, Sam's could make it happen. This was actually our first choice. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was busy. After wandering around, it appeared a line was forming so we lined up. However, after a few moments, a younger women approached asking how she could help. She measured, wrote up the order and and cashed us out in less than 10 minutes. She explained what the next step would be and we were on our way. I have tagged his mom and grandma in for pick up but based on past experiences with my boys and the efficient from last Saturday I have every confidence everything will be fine. TBH I have no idea how they compare to other tuxedo places, pricewise, but I think they have a great selection and the customer service is clearly a priority. Now that I am done with dressing young men for prom I will have to find some black tie events for my husband to take me to. :-) They have a very nice selection of mens clothing and they might do alternations, although I am not sure if that is just for purchase from them or if they take outside work as well. Making eye contact with this older lady, I could see she would flipping through papers and scanning merchandise so I waited for two minutes before she could utter any words out of her mouth. The words she uttered? Are those pants clean? I responded, they're brand new. Her rebuttal, you should wash them before we can hem them. I advised her that I dry clean my pants. She took a moment to respond, but she eventually arrived to the conclusion that it would take her over 10 minutes to attend to me and over two weeks to have the pants returned to me. She basically tried everything to get me not to hem my pants at this location. Well, she succeeded. I ended up leaving. To whom it actually concerns in management, as a leader of a fine establishment as yours, you most likely know that clients have plenty of options where to get their pants hemmed. I can honestly say this was probably the worst experience I ever encountered with one of your employees. The lack of understanding, communication, and urgency from your ill trained staff makes me question where you rest your values in your business practice as it does not seem in line with delivery a great customer experience.

Let me paint the picture…read more.. My wife and I were attending a wedding at the Port Authority. We arrived at the Marriott in the Renaissance Center with plenty of time to relax. Since she always takes four hours longer than me to get ready, I took the opportunity to watch TV and have a little rest, deciding that I'd get up at 4:30 pm with plenty of time to get myself ready for the 6 pm wedding as the venue was only about 10 minutes away. At 4:45 pm, I proceeded to put on my dress shirt and, to my shock and disappointment, realized I had packed a tuxedo shirt instead of a normal button down. The shirt I had with me required cufflinks and buttons that were sitting in my closet at home. There was no way I could drive there and back so I decided to look for a place close by that might be able to give me a hand. Knowing that my wife was extremely displeased, but handled it very well, I tried several avenues to remedy this situation, including asking other hotel guests if they had a shirt I could borrow and stopping into nice restaurants in the area to see if the waitstaff had any shirts on hand. When those options failed, I ran the thirteen minute route down Randolph to find Hot Sam's. I arrived at their door at 5:10 pm and the store was alive with people getting measured for suits, people socializing on the loungers around the store, and managers and staff mingling with customers and regulars coming in and out of the store. They saw me as I entered, out of breath and sweating profusely, and asked what my situation was. I told them that I was in jeopardy of both missing a wedding and being killed by my wife, which they immediately smiled, gave me a napkin to dry my brow, and were able to tell the size of my shirt without even getting a measuring tape. The shirt was perfectly priced considering they could have charged me 4 x what I paid to solve the problem. They wished me well and told me they would be here to serve me (and others) for whatever the occasion would be in the future. Within 13 minutes, my emergency was resolved and I was able to causally stroll back to the venue feeling ready to dance the night away. I even beat my wife to the venue. I will definitely be returning to Hot Sam's in the future (once my shin splints heal) when I need to freshen up my wardrobe or find the perfect outfit for a special occasion. Thank you, gentlemen, for taking care of me and being a staple to this community.
