It is very hard to find a good Chiropractor, let alone a great one! Jeff is amazing and it is evident that he truly cares about his patients. Would highly recommend! read more

I was a chiropractor skeptic. Yes, everyone raves about their chiropractor, but it always seemed to be in the context of "Oh, man, I need to get back to the chiro, I just feel terrible if I'm not there every 2 weeks". My perception was that chiropractors were a sort of temporary fix rather than a solution. Dr. Word has changed that! After several months of working from home, I was so stiff I couldn't stretch one muscle group without pulling another. I finally decided to try this whole chiropractor thing and all I can say is, "wow, I was wrong". Dr. Word obviously sees his role as understanding the root of aches and pains and giving people the tools to really feel better; he is clearly sincerely invested in the well being of his clients. I felt like a new person after that first visit, but even more importantly, I've been able to take action at home under Dr. Word's guidance to actually solve issues, not just temporarily relieve them. I'll definitely continue to see Dr. Word for regular maintenance now that I see the value, but I feel empowered to set that schedule based on how I'm feeling and find that I'm able to go more time (rather than less) between visits as I make progress. Highly, highly recommend Dr. Word, even if (or especially if) you're a chiropractic skeptic like I was! read more

Note to others, do not rely on the online booking system. I booked my appointment online a week in advance after looking at reviews and hearing great things about this place. Left work in the middle of the day, arrived on time, only to find out my appointment was never confirmed. They had my information in the system and even said this wasn't the first time something like this has happened. Very disappointed as I'm in serious pain and now need to go thru the process of finding another chiropractor and likely waiting another week. I have no doubt this is a good place/good chiropractor based on other reviews, so just make sure you follow up after filling out the form online. read more

They really make you feel at home and Dr. Word is great at what he does. I've been in 2 times for a sports related injury and am now feeling 100%. He even gave me a few pointers for what to do on my own for stretching and building strength. I'm so glad I found this place! read more

I am just finishing my second month at Central Wellness and could not have had a better experience to date. The care I've received has been the best I've ever gotten in so many ways: 1) Responsive care: Dr. Word and Derek are completely responsive to my needs and the progress of my care. Whether that means matching workouts to build muscle groups that compliment my adjustments, or adjusting care depending on how my body progresses between adjustments, I get highly personalized care. 2) Joy: They are a joy to work with and make me excited to get treatment (the only bummer is their care has been effective to the point I don't get to go in as often, which after all is the point). 3) Educational: I feel educated and more and more aware of my body throughout my treatment. 4) Flexible & practical: Central Wellness works with my schedule and insurance so well. Instead of quoting me for a bundle like other places I considered, Dr. Word was optimistic about the amount of care I'd need and eager to see how my body responded to the first month. This center's approach is patient-first all the way. I can't recommend this place enough, most of all because the progress I've made. I'm no longer experiencing daily pain in my neck and back, all the while continuing my lifestyle commuting by bike and staying active. After two months I can tell the adjustments are lasting and my strength and range of motion have both expanded. The center's approach has allowed me to take exercises and activities home that proactively transition the care onto my terms. Pairing adjustment with exercises has been huge, not just for the strength and alignment I've received, but to build more sustainable posture, movement, and behaviors into daily actions. Dr. Word and Derek are both phenomenal at explaining the intricacies of my treatment as well as the big picture in really helpful terms. Between the environment, lessons, workouts, and results, I owe a lot to Central Wellness! read more

Dr Word resolved my neck pain in few sessions, and provided me with stretching and strength training to prevent it in the future. Fantastic resource. read more

Having lived a very active lifestyle playing collegiate sports, participating in extreme skiing, basketball, baseball, intramural sports etc. I've been a regular fan of chiropractic for 20+ yrs..I've also moved to several different cities and even a couple of states during that time frame, so I've seen maybe 8-10 different docs..I stumbled onto Dr. Word by referral recently and can TRUTHFULLY say I've never felt more confident in a doctors hands!! Chiropractic adjustments and styles are unique to each doc. Dr. Word is by far the most "safe" I've ever felt when getting wrenched on. Especially the neck adjustments :) Not to mention that the adjustments are "RELEVANT" to my issue at the time and not just the generic "follow the dots" cracking like many seem to do..(in my experience) Give him a try, you will NEVER go anywhere else...trust me! read more

So glad I found this place! Throughout my life I've seen a handful of chiropractors and without a doubt this is the best! Very friendly comfortable atmosphere! And I didn't feel pressured into more visits than what was necessary! I went from barely being able to put my socks on to being back to my normal self in no time! Highly recommend this to anybody who needs chiropractic work! read more

Nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Word and Derek! I have some chronic back trouble combined with post-partum specific postural issues and have been turned off by some of the chiropractic practices that are like factories and can use torture devices, etc. I came to Dr. Word looking for a gentle approach to body work, he heard all of my concerns and I've been so pleased with his technique and my progress. I get immediate and lasting relief and the rehab work and postural tips he's given me have made a big difference in just a couple of months. Scheduling is easy, parking is easy, and they are taking tons of precautions with COVID - I am so glad to have found this practice. read more

Pregnancy chiropractic care - I could go into great detail about what a good experience I've had at Central Wellness, but all of the previous Five Star reviews have pretty much summed it up! I would just add that I've been seeing Dr. W since about 25 weeks into my third pregnancy and it has helped with my lower back and pelvic pain (SI joint, sacrum, ect.) immensely compared to past pregnancies where I would only find a chiropractor later in the third trimester. I'm so glad I started earlier this time and so glad I found Central Wellness. I pay out of pocket and find the rates reasonable and of great value. Highly, highly recommend! read more

I highly recommend this place, I hadn't t been to a chiropractor in years and felt like a new person after this experience, I felt comfortable safe and in such great hands with Dr. Word, he explained things in such a knowledgeable way to help me understand my back pain and what things will help. I could not be happier with this experience. I will definitely be a regular at this point! read more

I began treating with Dr. Word in early 2018 after being rear ended while at a stop sign. I wasn't moving when the other driver hit me with such force the impact broke the sit I was sitting in and deployed the headrest safely feature. For the next few of months I was treated by Dr. Word and believe it was his knowledge and expertise that got my back and neck back to a pain free place. I must say during the process I did worry that I might have a lifetime of pain. And to top it off, Dr. Word and Derek couldn't be nicer people lot work with, the office is always clean and appointments happen on time . I would recommend Central Wellness Chiropractic to any of my family and friends. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend Central Wellness Chiropractic with the strongest possible endorsement. In a little over a month, problems that have haunted me for decades have begun to disappear. I have the best posture of my life and I feel stronger and more solid than I have since I was a collegiate varsity rower. Dr. Word and Derek are not only incredibly knowledgeable and insightful about the issues I bring to them, I also feel that they are invested in my progress. They will recall details I told them weeks ago from memory and be able to use that knowledge to treat any issues that arise. They also help with concerns beyond just my back. I have knee issues as well and if I mention that it is bothering me Dr. Word will give me an adjustment that helps with my knee pain, an exercise to help me recover, or just general advice that helps me find balance within my body. They are easy to talk to, have excellent "bed-side manner," and go out of their way to make the entire process comfortable and welcoming. They make going to appointments an absolute pleasure. Not only are the adjustments therapeutic and restorative, but the physical therapy/exercise component is incredibly effective. I have always had weakness and instability on one half of my body and have tried all sorts of workout regiments to correct it without success. In only a few weeks at Dr. Word's I feel like a new man. This has helped only my physical development, but my self-esteem. I would recommend Central Wellness to anyone regardless of the severity of their particular issues, nature of their pain or discomfort, or experience with other chiropractors. read more

Great experience! I'm an ex-athlete and competitive powerlifter, so I've dealt with injuries for a long time. These nagging injuries lead to major imbalances in my body and as a consequence, I deal with a lot of neck, shoulder, and hip pain. When I get a suit tailored, I even have to get padding on one shoulder because it sits higher than the other. Anyway, after the first visit with Dr. Word, he was able to isolate the problem and even create some immediate relief. However, the most valuable takeaways for me were the rehabilitation techniques he gave me. After a few weeks of work with some specific movements and a lacrosse ball, I'm back to normal. My shoulders are even sitting at the same level again. It's pretty wild. read more

Me and my husband have both been seeing Dr. Word for about 2 years for adjustments and have both been very pleased with his professionalism and individualized care. Dr. word and his co worker Derek are very welcoming and supportive. I have been seeing various chiropractors for about 15 years off and on and Dr. Word is by far the best. Phenomenal chiropractor. I came in for chronic neck, lower back, and hip pains that were affecting my work, sleep, and enjoyment of life. With Dr. Word and Derek, I've been able to make rapid progress. After just a few sessions, I had much more freedom of movement and freedom from pain. Now we're working to correct my posture and stabilize these gains. It's important to me to be able to relax in a treatment setting and trust my care providers. The team at Central Wellness makes that easy, both with the compassionate and humane way they approach spinal care and with their commitment to results you can see and feel. I've been dealing with a frozen shoulder since June and began with a high priced PT chain with a great view of ballard. I didn't see much progress so I changed direction and began working with Dr. Word. I'm into about 4-5 visits and beginning to see noticeable progress. I'll write back when I'm back into paddles races. read more

Super impressed with Dr. Word and the clinic. As a Healthcare Professional I was on the search for a new chiropractic Dr. My online research led me to CWC/ Dr. Word. During the Covid Crisis I wanted to feel safe while insuring I was getting full treatment. I was able to book everything online. Being the only patient in the clinic is comforting. Along with a temperature check, and heart rate. I can tell the clinic is sterile and thoroughly cleaned each visit. My assessment was detailed, and treatment was exactly what I needed. Dr. Word took the time to show me exercises and sent me home with new skills to keep healing my body in between appointments. Most importantly my adjustments were not just quick 3 point snaps, he is thorough and was able to adjust my body in way's my previous Dr wasn't. I should also say that I have a difficult time relaxing, Dr. Word is able to get my body adjusted as it needs to be. I continue to feel like I am making great progress after each treatment and am excited as my body begins to heal and not be in pain. Gaining full function and not being in pain so I can live an active healthy lifestyle is my goal. I am confident with Dr. Word's help I am on track, and I feel great when I leave his clinic. read more

I love Dr. Word! I literally signed up for yelp for the sole purpose of sharing my experience at this clinic. The clinic is very welcoming and Dr. Word is professional but not at all stuffy. I had experienced an injury and despite being told by others it would heal with time, the pain and discomfort continued for multiple months. I was wary about chiropractic care but was willing to give it a go to stop the pain. Dr. Word came highly recommended by a friend. He listened carefully about my injury and on-going pain and immediately explained the cause. After an adjustment I immediately gained significant mobility and pain relief. Dr. Word suggested exercises to help with me recover. I had a couple follow-up appointments to alleviate pressure and it's seems like I'm finally on a quick path to recovery. I couldn't thank Dr. Word enough. read more

I have had several sports injuries in the last few years and I have never been more optimistic about making a full and sustained recovery since I started working with Dr. Word and Derek. I have seen several specialists with my injuries and Dr. Word was the first one to ask me what my goals were. Derek and Dr. Word are both skilled at what they do and to top it off they are both a delight. I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for chiropractic care. read more

I feel amazing! After the 2nd adjustments my upper back, neck and shoulder feels much better, the sharp px and tingly down my arm went away for the most part, I need a few more sessions The first initial appt of getting adjusted and I can't believe how amazing I feel. Turns out my neck in tilted fwd which was causing my neck px! I was amazed that just by some taps and feeling my should and neck he was able to tell what was wrong. The adjustment took maybe 10mins at most which is great cause I don't have a lot of free time between work and kids. Dr Word was straight to the point and very professional. He really knows his stuff. Derek, his right hand man was very friendly and attentive. He was very accommodating to my work schedule and was able to fit me in during my lunch breaks. My overall experience was amazing and I look forward to my next visit:-D Thanks Dr. Word and Derek, you guys a great! highly recommended. read more

I am a physician and lifelong chiropractic skeptic, but a colleage recommended Dr. Word and it was covered by my insurance, so I went. I had neck and shoulder pain that was increasingly debilitating after years of tension buildup. It took a few sessions but I am completely pain free now. I can't believe how quick the turnaround was. Dr. Word and Derek are also excellent at teaching posture and exercises to maintain strength and prevent reinjury. Very knowledgeable, very kind and caring. read more

Where would I be without Derek and Dr. Word! When I first visited Central Wellness I was having neck, back, hip, AND shin splint issues resulting from a hectic work travel schedule, a running injury, and lord know what else. The gents at Central Wellness provided a comprehensive approach to treat what I was beginning to think would be a lifetime of pain, and after a couple months I'm back running, I'm pain free, and I couldn't be happier. Derek and Dr. Word are committed to their patient's success, and do so with a sense of humor and focus on the entire body. Highly recommend checking them out! read more

I wanted to share my positive experience with you about my treatment provided by Dr. Word. 8/7/18 at 11:30am I was to undergo the third surgery to my spine. 10 days prior to the cervical fusion, I sneezed. Twice. I thought the sneeze had passed and turned my head in the opposite direction - and another sneeze. The jolt felt like a chiropractic adjustment and as the days crept closer to surgery, the pain was pretty much gone. As I was being prepped for surgery, IV in my arm, I asked if it was normal to perform a fusion when there was no pain? Needless to say, no surgery that day, and with a referral in hand, I met Dr. Word. He first took the time to review MRIs and XRAYs to insure a successful outcome. With only three seasons, my neck and back issues dissolved. I can't imagine how lucky to adverted another surgery. Thank you Dr. Word. read more

I can not say enough about Dr. word and my experience at central wellness. I did a general search for work related injury chiropractic specialists after my chiropractor was not helping or explaining my pain and injury thoroughly. Dr word got back to me very quickly and it was so easy to make an appointment with him. After being in constant pain for a year and dealing with some numbness in my arm I was a little skeptical and nervous going in for my first fists. Both Dr. Word and Derek were so great at making me feel comfortable and really understanding what was going on with my shoulder and neck. After a few visits my pain was drastically better and the more I see them the better it gets. Their approach is more proactive than I've experienced in the past (here's some pain meds), they've shown me how to work out my back properly and stretches to minimize my pain and prevent it from happening in the future. You guys are the best! read more

I went to Dr. Word for an ITB issue and was in great pain. I had an upcoming race that I had been training months for and I was disappointed in the state of my knee. Dr. Word was great in helping me understand what the problem was and how he was going to try and fix it with his various methods. I was SHOCKED at how great my knee felt after ONE visit with him. He was thorough in his explanations, empathetic with my frustrations and knowledgeable with different techniques. He and Derek are wonderful people! I would highly recommend Central Wellness to anyone. I know I'll be back if some other issue pops up! read more

Dr. Word is a phenomenal chiropractor. I am actually a bit skeptical of chiropractic medicine but I cannot say enough about how much his treatments helped me. I started seeing Dr. Word when I was pregnant, suffering from intense hip pain and after the first visit there was a marked difference, instantly the pain was manageable and I could walk with a normal cadence. Thankfully I received a referral from a trusted advisor or I never would have had the courage to try something new. Dr. Word is also a consummate professional. I was very impressed by his thorough examination prior to administering any treatment. I have visited many professionals for pain, including massage therapists and physical therapists, and I have never experienced such a deep examination of both my pain and my state of being. I would recommend Central Wellness Chiropractic without reservation...in fact I referred my husband and now he is also a patient. read more

I'm not a frequent reviewer on this or any other site, but I wanted to make sure I wrote one for Dr. Word. I have been seeing Dr. Word for several months for my Tinnitus condition. Prior to finding him, I had visited several hearing specialists that told me that the condition was related to hearing loss and that there wasn't anything I could do about it. I could never sign on to this theory because, for me, the tinnitus is not consistent - on some days it was acute and on others it was non-existent. After much research, I came across a white paper which explained that most cases of tinnitus are "somatic," or related to the body, and could be relieved with the right chiropractic care. Dr. Word understood this right away and has helped me bring the occurrences down from 3-4 days per week to 3 or 4 days per month. Dr. Word is a great listener who's care extends beyond the visit with recommendations for stretching and behavior modifications, to visits with other qualified professionals that will enhance his treatments. Highly recommended! read more
