He was very careful to indicate that he didn't want to add anything unnecessary to the point where I was like, no no... please tell me all the things that need to be fixed. In fact, I wish we had fixed even more unnecessary parts of the fence, but he cares deeply about the budget and savings and pointed out which things are great to fix now and which can wait. He was incredibly honest. To make matters better, he came in at a lower price than the other quotes I received, AND he was willing to schedule work immediately (pending mandatory utility checks). My house is in Vienna, VA, and his brother Edwin, who partners with him, came out and did most of the work. They work together. His brother is super kind and patient, and even decided to work on a day with temperatures surpassing mid-90s. Pro-tip: Leave out some cold drinks for your contractors on hot days. In fact, they even added a few extra bonus fixes for me since I had a few rotten fence caps, and he made the broken fence posts look perfect. When the inevitable other parts of my fence start rotting, I'm calling Jose right away.

!!! Consumer Warning - My Experience with Payless Fencing aka Steve Waterholter…read more I want to share my family's experience to help other homeowners make an informed decision before hiring Payless Fencing and Steve Waterholter. My mother signed a contract for a fence totaling $9,200. We paid $8,200 upfront. After months of delays, repeated promises, and numerous scheduled completion dates that were not met, demands for more money the project remains unfinished. Throughout the project, we received multiple explanations for the delays, but the fence was still not completed. We have saved our contract, text messages, photographs, and Ring camera recordings documenting the timeline and the condition of the project. Because the work was not completed as agreed, we have terminated the contract, requested a full refund of the money paid, and have consulted an attorney regarding our legal options. This post reflects our personal experience. We encourage anyone considering hiring this company to do their own research, ask for references, verify licensing and insurance, and carefully review any contract before making a payment. Below are pictures of our yard. It has looked like this since May. Steve Waterholter needs to make this right

Joe did not 'oversell' on customer service. He said we would be treated well and we were. Quality materials and conscientious crew. With our new home we have had our share of vendors. The crew first arrived late in the afternoon and worked briefly before leaving the project unfinished. They later returned again late in the day and completed the gates after dark. After reviewing the work in daylight, I noticed several items did not match what I understood was included in the agreement. Existing hardware was reused rather than replaced. The posts that were supposed to be reinforced with additional concrete were not secured. A post on a neighboring fence was replaced without prior discussion. An old post was also left leaning against my fence. I contacted the company about these concerns and was told they would be addressed. A crew later returned, but there was disagreement about the scope of work. I requested follow-up from management. I was later informed that another crew would be arranged, but I have not received further communication. Based on my experience, I recommend carefully reviewing the scope of work, documenting all agreements in writing, and inspecting the completed project thoroughly before finalizing payment.
