Universal Fence - Vinyl fence installation in Woodbridge, Virginia by your local fence company

Universal Fence

Jose was the contractor who came out IMMEDIATELY to give a quote, and he was probably one of the…read moremost honest contractors I've ever had. He was very careful to indicate that he didn't want to add anything unnecessary to the point where I was like, no no... please tell me all the things that need to be fixed. In fact, I wish we had fixed even more unnecessary parts of the fence, but he cares deeply about the budget and savings and pointed out which things are great to fix now and which can wait. He was incredibly honest. To make matters better, he came in at a lower price than the other quotes I received, AND he was willing to schedule work immediately (pending mandatory utility checks). My house is in Vienna, VA, and his brother Edwin, who partners with him, came out and did most of the work. They work together. His brother is super kind and patient, and even decided to work on a day with temperatures surpassing mid-90s. Pro-tip: Leave out some cold drinks for your contractors on hot days. In fact, they even added a few extra bonus fixes for me since I had a few rotten fence caps, and he made the broken fence posts look perfect. When the inevitable other parts of my fence start rotting, I'm calling Jose right away.

After contacting several fencing companies, I was fortunate to find Universal Fence LLC. Not only did they do an excellent job, but they were also able to schedule the work quickly. They handled the entire process professionally, including arranging for utility lines to be marked, which saved me from waiting weeks to get started. On the day of installation, their team was outstanding. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the entire project in just one day. A few months later, when I experienced a minor issue with one of the gate locks, they honored their commitment and promptly came back to fix it. It's rare to find a company that delivers quality work and stands behind its promises. I truly appreciate their professionalism, responsiveness, and customer service. I would highly recommend Universal Fence LLC to any homeowner looking for a reliable fencing company.

I'm super picky when it comes to communication, pricing and products but you're in good hands here! PS, he is also a retired police officer:)

The "main number" I texted apparently is answer by Mike sometime and his office manager Stephanie other times. Problem is they dont communicate with each other very well, if at all. Based on convo, was talking to Mike for a couple of days. Needed, what i thought, was simple furniture assembly for an armoire purchased from Wayfair. He quoted me a rate of $125 per hour. Sent him the assembly video and confirmed it would require two people given the size of some of the pieces. Appointment day rolls around and only one worker is sent. Texted the main number and Stephanie replies. Rescheduled for another day and the worker comes back with his teenage son Now, according to the Wayfair website and reviews by other purchasers, one buyer and his 14 yo son managed to do the job in 4 hours. Wayfair estimates it takes a handy homeowner 6 hours to complete the job. took Mike's "professional" and his helper 8 hours to do the job. Was never told the rate went up to $175 for the 2nd person involved. so an $1100 purchase cost another $1400 to assemble using Mike 's guy and his teenager. Was never given an estimate of how long it would take based on the video provided. Was never told of the higher rate -- just "Furniture assembly is $125 per hour). Problem is, VA law requires a licensed contractor to provide a written estimate of the cost of the work undertaken and a timeframe for completion neither were provided, yet he is still insisting on full payment of $1400. No discount for wasting our afternoon when he failed to send 2 workers the first day, no discount for a teenage worker. No considerations for the fact no estimate was ever provided. If the VA board of contractors says I should pay $1400, Ill pay $1400. But not paying a penny till they weigh in on his practices.
