Jim was great, and a fair man. He and my Dad were friends for many years. His son just ripped off my Mom. He took what he said was 900$ worth of koi from my Mom because we are moving and only offered her 200$. He then showed up and took the fish and said he didn't have any cash on him and would send a check. He sent a check for 160$. He's a thief. I wasn't aware of this until it happened. You know that saying "HIDDEN GEM". Yeah. This place definitely fits that category. I thought I had to drive far (to the bay area) just to see some nice koi places but what I didn't realize was that there was one close to where I live. I would have never found this place if I didn't search it online. (It's located in the rural area.) I was skeptic at first when I entered the place; the place didn't look like your typical koi stores. As we went back to where the ponds were located, I was shock at how beautiful the koi were. And what's more suprising were the cheap price he offered them. (I'm talking about $3, $5, $10, $15, $20 and so on. (That's pretty cheap for a great quality koi if you ask me! ) I'm giving every grading criteria a five star for this place. The customer service was excellent. I actually got to catch the fish and look at it upclose (without being rushed). I would say I was about there for 1.5 hours looking at the koi. I left the place knowing I got the fish I wanted. The owner was very nice too. He talked to us the whole time and I will admit that I've learned about kois more than ever in just one visit. I'm still amaze how cheap those kois were (the store is located at his own backyard and that is why he can sell them for cheaper prices). I know where I will buy my big kois now! I'll definitely come back again when I'm ready to buy more koi and goldfish. (The owner said that the new batch will arrive on April 2011.) This is a great place to get Koi fish. The prices are pretty reasonable and it is a pleasant place to visit and enjoy their ponds and water lilies. I have been going there for all my fish and had a pretty good experience with my koi. Jim's son took over the business and he is as friendly and informative as Jim was. What a great place to get my KOI fishes. Jim is friendly and patient. Jim was amazing! We just bought a home and all the precious large goldfish died before we could move in. We wanted to replace the fish before my daughter could see the dead ones and came across Central Valley which was open on a weekend, thankfully. He was very knowledgeable, informative and friendly. The koi were beautiful and well priced, we bought some nice 10-12 inch ones for $75 each. Hopefully I won't have to go back (I'm praying my fish survive!) but I highly recommend this place. My husband and I went to Central Valley Koi today to get some koi fish for our new pond. We had a really great experience. We were greeted by the owner Jim who was very friendly and helpful. He answered all our questions as we are new to owning Koi. We definitely learned a thing or two. We were not rushed at all. He walked us around and let us see everything at our own pace. This Place has Koi, turtles, birds, guinea pigs, you name it Jim has it. It's like a little backyard filled with koi gardens and other little animals, really a great concept. Jim scooped out a bunch of fish when I found the ones I liked and let me take my time hand picking them. What a wonderful day we had at Central Valley Koi! We were delighted to meet Jim and view his massive selection of koi (all reasonably priced). There were so many fish to choose from - a potpourri of different sizes and colors. I would recommend Central Valley Koi to serious and casual collectors of koi. Jim is very knowledgeable and an excellent resource. His tanks and grounds were immaculately kept and we had no reservations about purchasing fish from his establishment. Jim is fantastic! What a place! He has the greatest ponds and a large selection of Koi. From very small to very large and something for every price range. He is so knowledgeable and very willing to share it. Anyone even close to driving distance (and I would drive for hours to see Jim) and wants quality Koi go see him. read more

If you are looking to purchase some Koi fish-I would highly recommend taking a drive to visit Jim at CVK. My boys and I drove out from the East Bay to get some Koi today and had a wonderful time picking out four amazing looking Koi to put in our backyard pond. There must have been a dozen separate above ground pounds/holding tanks to view the Koi in and select the size/price/color Koi we wanted. As cheep as $3, $5, $10, $15.....the bigger the size the more you will likely pay. Bottom line-this place beats any aquarium place you've ever been to.
