My experience with UEI has been extremely disappointing, and I feel like my concerns have…read morerepeatedly fallen on deaf ears.
I enrolled at UEI to learn a trade, build a career in HVAC, and give myself and my child a better future. As a mother, I'm not just doing this for myself. I'm working toward a career that can provide stability for my child and create better opportunities for us. I came into this program wanting to learn, improve my skills, and become independent in a career I could be proud of. Instead, I have spent far too much time trying to get the basic educational resources and support I need to succeed.
I have repeatedly expressed concerns about not receiving proper learning materials and not having access to the tutoring and additional support I have asked for. I have struggled with concentrating while reading and retaining information, and rather than feeling supported in finding ways to learn more effectively, I have felt like I have been left to figure things out on my own.
The technology situation has made things even more frustrating. My UEI tablet has been replaced multiple times, and I am now dealing with a third replacement that continues to die on me. How am I supposed to focus on my education when the very device I'm expected to use for learning is unreliable? Having to depend on my phone instead also causes eye strain. These are not small inconveniences when my education depends on having reliable access to course materials.
I have brought up these issues because I WANT to learn. I want to understand HVAC, prepare for my EPA 608 certification, and actually retain the information I'm being taught. I shouldn't have to repeatedly advocate for myself just to feel like my education matters. Asking for tutoring, proper materials, functioning technology, and support should not feel like I'm asking for too much.
On top of the academic concerns, there have also been interactions with staff that have left me feeling uncomfortable and unsupported. An incident involving a threat contributed to my feeling unsafe at this school. Students should be able to raise concerns and attend classes without feeling intimidated or ignored. A learning environment should encourage students to grow, not leave them feeling uncomfortable speaking up about legitimate problems.
What makes this especially frustrating is the financial investment. I'm facing approximately $25,000 in education costs that aren't covered by FAFSA, and I take that responsibility seriously. This is not just about paying tuition and showing up. It's about whether the education and support being provided are meeting the needs of students who are investing their time, money, and future into this program.
I have tried addressing these problems because I genuinely want things to improve. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the resources, reliable equipment, instruction, and respectful treatment necessary to give myself a fair opportunity to succeed. When concerns are repeatedly raised and the underlying problems remain unresolved, it makes a student question whether anyone is truly listening.
UEI needs to do better. Students are not just enrollment numbers or tuition payments. We are people with goals, responsibilities, children who depend on us, different learning needs, and futures we are working hard to build. A school should be helping students overcome obstacles to learning, not leaving them feeling like they have to fight the institution just to get an education.
I enrolled because I believed this program could help me build a better future for myself and my child. I want my child to grow up seeing that their mother worked hard, pursued her education, and refused to give up on creating a better life for them. But wanting to succeed should not mean having to struggle through preventable problems without adequate support.
At this point, I am seriously considering legal action because I feel like I have exhausted my efforts to get these concerns addressed. I should not have to reach this point just to feel heard by an institution I am paying to educate me. I want my concerns taken seriously, documented, and addressed appropriately. I am no longer willing to keep raising the same issues without meaningful responses or accountability.
Students deserve to feel heard, supported, respected, and properly equipped to succeed. We are investing in our futures, and we deserve an educational experience that reflects that investment. 10/13/26
