I went to Shakti as I was told is was a great place for beads. When I got there I found it is a…read moreplace with not so many beads, but many nik-naks. Some of the beads they sold were alright, but nothing for a person who is seriously into jewellery making. I was really surprised when I was told that I had to hand over my purse to them, as I was told that people bump into things & damage them. This made no sense to me as the more expensive things were up front. With more discussion it became clear to me that they were more concerned about people stealing beads as opposed to damaging them. Never in my life have I ever had to leave my purse with employees to protect the store from thieves. I told them that they shouldn't treat their patrons as criminals‼ They had a security guard in the front, so if he is doing his job right they shouldn't have to do this‼ Truth be told, the whole experience gave me a very bad taste in my mouth. I definitely will not be returning to this place‼

They do have classes to teach you how to make things and they do kids birthday parties. I also have to respect any business that gives teachers 10% or 15% off (sorry I don't remember which). Their staff is always friendly and helpful but they don't give you flyers in the store so if you forget yours you don't get to use the coupons.

Definitely worth the drive! The store was clean, well-organized, and had great displays of different projects on the walls. And unlike some other stores, there is room to move around and they even have shopping carts (a rare find in fabric stores). Great selection of fabrics and surprisingly great/lower prices. On top of all this, the customer service was incredible! We were greeted upon arrival, had our fabrics carried for us to the cutting table and were helped by several different staff and the manager (who spent a considerable amount of time with us)-- Incredible customer service--retail stores could learn a lot from this crew! Overall, a 5-star experience. I will definitely be a returning customer.
