I went to Shakti as I was told is was a great place for beads. When I got there I found it is a place with not so many beads, but many nik-naks. Some of the beads they sold were alright, but nothing for a person who is seriously into jewellery making. I was really surprised when I was told that I had to hand over my purse to them, as I was told that people bump into things & damage them. This made no sense to me as the more expensive things were up front. With more discussion it became clear to me that they were more concerned about people stealing beads as opposed to damaging them. Never in my life have I ever had to leave my purse with employees to protect the store from thieves. I told them that they shouldn't treat their patrons as criminals‼ They had a security guard in the front, so if he is doing his job right they shouldn't have to do this‼ Truth be told, the whole experience gave me a very bad taste in my mouth. I go there to buy sage, arrowheads, and crystals to make necklaces. The staff is very friendly right from my very first visit when I first moved to Winnipeg. If you walk in with an attitude, of course, you're going to get an attitude, and NEVER has any of the staff ever been rude to me. I usually find what I'm looking for and have no complaints. The owner's daughter works there and I think she is very beautiful and friendly, She'll probably read this and know it's me!!! Great place, highly recommends coming here. read more

I've come into Shakti a few times. My most recent visit there was disappointing though. I came in with my sister to look at their Sage and none of the workers greeted us. So I say "Hi, are these the only Sage you guys carry?" And the lady working there with the super short hair replied with an attitude and was not helpful at all. I stopped going there because of that and the service that they/she showed me pushed me to shop at places with better service such as Prairie Sky Books on Westminster. They also carry sage, incense, etc. A store just like Shakti, and not an overload of assorted beads. read more

I have been a regular customer at Shakti for the last decade. As a jewelry maker I absolutely love the vast selection of gemstones (raw, beads & finished pieces) and the prices are the best in town (just my personal opinion;). The store has a great ambiance for at least an hour of shopping, yet it is only small. You could spend a fortune on crystals, and cards and things from different places around the world, yet again it is reasonably priced.
