I purchased the Cypress wood potting table this summer. Within two months, the surface became…read morecovered in black mold. I chose this model specifically because I understood cypress to be naturally rot- and mold-resistant. When I asked staff before purchasing, I was told the wood did not need to be sealed or stained and would simply grey naturally over time -- which I was fine with. What I wasn't expecting was such rapid mold growth. When I contacted customer service, they agreed this should not have happened, apologized, and offered a refund -- which I appreciate. However, I'm still disappointed, as this leaves me with the inconvenience of either dismantling and returning the table to buy another one, or spending time cleaning, sanding, and treating it myself to make it usable. Given the severity of the mold, I now question whether this is truly made of cypress heartwood, or if a softer/less durable wood such as pine or poplar was used instead. Overall, I'm frustrated by the poor material quality and lack of durability.

Lee Valley is on of the places I must visit when I return to Manitoba…read more I used to mail order from these folks when they were only in Toronto. The new Winnipeg store placed this greatness much closer - but then I moved and I can only buy from these guys every so often. They started as the best woodworking tool store out there and their planes set a new standard in the field. But in the last 5 years they have moved into gardening and more. They have tons of interesting things in the store on Academy road but I have always done custom ordering to get the exact dimensions and finish I am looking for. This is where where they truly excel. You can literally get anything you could imagine from them. The wait time is reasonable usually about a month. Lake of the woods, Falcon, West hawk, Clear Lake, Tuxedo, River Heights, Victoria Beach, anywhere you see gorgeous homes and properties you will likely see something from Lindsey Steek. Talented, and really the only option for top end design in the city. The price is a reflection of this but you get what you pay for, and as a longstanding client I can say the service is incredible.

Tip: - This Oomomo store has a cafe where you can get cool…read moredrinks and good eats, including ramen and udon. - It's essentially a Japanese dollar store. It's cool! I had an evening flight out of Winnipeg on Tuesday. I hung out in the St. James area after having lunch. I decided to check out this Oomomo store on St. James Street. I am generally good at remembering what used to be where Oomomo is. Nothing popped in my head as I was shopping when it came to what used to be here, probably because I was so happy that items were so cheap at this store. It came to me yesterday evening. It's where Hudson's Bay Home used to be. Oomomo is the Japanese version of a dollar store. It has everything from chopsticks and plates, to snacks and stationery. Prices are cheap. I'm fortunate that Markham has one. It's nice to know that Winnipeg gets to enjoy this store. This store in Winnipeg is special. I walked in and there was Oomomo Cafe. It had ramen, udon, pretty drinks, and more. I came here on a full stomach. I'll need to return and give this cafe a try. I fell in love with the chopsticks section. You can get a cool pair of chopsticks for $3.50. You can get accessories for your chopsticks, from a sturdy trave; case, to a rest for your chopsticks. So cool! I liked seeing origami paper. I used to do a lot of origami. I should get back to doing some. The skin care section was amazing. I looked at everything from toner and moisturizer, to face masks and cotton wipes. The prices were decent. I ended up getting a microfibre towel that's the perfect size to cover my eyelids. I have dry eyes and I take time to put a warm towel over them to relieve the dryness while unclogging the pores. I also got an accessory that has two clips to hold your hat down. It also has a place to hang your sunglasses or eyeglasses. The snacks and drinks section was incredible. I found my usual sugar-free tea in bottles. There was ramen. I also saw massive Pocky sticks. I went to pay at the checkout area. I got a woman who was nice and helpful. If you want to get a bag, it's 40 cents. I declined. I used a credit card to pay for my two items. Done! I'm happy with my purchases. I look forward to returning and checking out the merchandise, and dining at the cafe. (476)

I went in to see whether things have changed. The merchandise has, but it still feels the same. It offers home furnishings and bath items at cheap prices. I ended up getting a cell phone case. The reason is odd. I needed a thin case that I could place my thin magnet and attach it to my car mount. I paid $5 for it. The most confusing part of the store was checking out. There are four cash registers, where they all face in different directions. With the cashiers all standing around and changing positions, how on Earth am I supposed to know which one to go to?! I'll try avoiding this store for a bit. (149)

I'm an older woman with no children -- the chair has hardly been used. Unfortunately, after just over a year, flaws have come up in the upholstry. Something I've come to appreciate about this place is that they have signs with fabric type written over every gigantic section. I only gave this place 3 stars because the service is hit or miss (usually miss)... it's usually a lot better if you're dealing with someone in their 20's (in my personal experience). Also the prices are not always attached to fabric bolts, that wouldn't necessarily be a problem if I didn't already dislike interacting with the people who work here. It's rare to find trendy fabric here (the way you will at Fabricland) but they have classics and basics at extremely fair prices (and you don't even have to have a membership).
