The only good thing about Central is how incredibly convenient it is.
Unfortunately, the prices are ridiculous and very often, the shelf price doesn't match the price you end up paying, so you have to watch the price of each item as it's scanned. For instance, the price of Strongbow was charged at 30p more than the shelf price from late 2010 to April 2011.
The staff are ignorant and can be downright rude and aggressive and their recently added cash machine is often out of cash or out of order for days.
Granted, Central is convenient but there are no budget options and nearly everything is a luxury item (£4.60 for an oven pizza!), and you can't make very varied meals with what's stocked. If it wasn't available students would save a lot of money and buy proper food from the town markets and supermarkets ASDA and Sainsbury's, both of which deliver.
An added insult is the slogan shown around the store, "More sense than money", making Central out to be a cost-effective option for food purchases. This is blatantly false, but new students who lack the experience of buying their own food may fall for the lie and find themselves spending £6 for one meal. read more
