I didn't quite understand and then one day, I saw it. Just a few yards from my dorm room. It is like a liquor, supermarket and wal-mart all condensed into a compact corner convenient store. The only thing was that they couldn't quite understand me when I asked for 'aluminum foil' because you have to say 'aluminium.' When I would run out of vodka, luncheon meat, gravy granules, tea and crumpets, frozen pizzas for 99 pence, or even fried chicken to get me through the cold, grueling days of studying, this Spar came to the rescue, everytime. I only have fond memories of this lifesaver. Oh yea, and they have instant ramen and siracha sauce too! What a relief!

SPAR is the largest convenience shop on campus and offers competitive prices on campus. Although…read morestill more expensive than supermarkets or other places in town, you are paying for the convenience. It offers a much wider range of goods than the comparable LUSU shops. This often means that I walk from the other end of campus just to get a particular brand or item that I can't buy in the nearer LUSU shop (aka Central Stores). I hear the SPAR baguettes are amazing, but I've yet to try them.

Smashing little village stores which crams an awful lot into a small space. An extensive alcohol…read moresection and a really good range of produce for such a small store. As well as all the usual things you would expect them to stock they also have such delights as Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding and excellent bread rolls which look (and taste) like they come from a small bakery. Cashpoint machine in store too which is convenient for a small village like Hambleton. Friendly lady proprietor passes the time of day, great little shop!

On the pricey side as might be expected from this type of store but conveniently placed on the A6 for a quick pull in if you've run out of anything or fancy picking up your daily paper.

Exterior Has quite a large carpark and area at the back for lory drivers to rest cash machine at the entrance and another inside. This service station looks rather run down inside and out. Inside Has all the usual shops and eateries that most Moto service stations have, WH Smith at the entrance and they also have a costa vending machine and a crispy Creme counter there is a marks & spencer store but the sandwich l ordered didn't taste fresh even though it was in date. I ordered two coffees to go from the Costa outlet where l saw the Barista add water to the milk to make it go further in the end the coffee was tasteless. The fast food outlets are upstairs across from the poorly maintained toilets. If l was looking for a service station to stop at I would rather stop before or after this one.

Ever wonder where all the folks in the UK like to hang? Apparently here. This parking lot was…read moreabsolutely mobbed when my hub and I stopped here for a pit stop. Parking here was a challenge as the lanes are narrow and so many folks are wandering about not paying attention to obvious walkways. The interior reminds me of what would happen if a food court met a strip mall and combined. There's two halves to this stop with a bridge connecting them over the motorway. Both have similar shops and stores on each side. There's a Burger King and Costa Coffee as well as a mini grocery store and sad-looking casinos. The bathrooms are at least kept decent but it's the customers that can ruin the experience. So many children and adult wandering aimlessly. If I had know how crazily busy and how lackluster the stores were, I would have just kept driving.
