Went with a girlfriend for a kid free lunch. Parking was close and lots available. Atmosphere was friendly and good for groups, families and friend lunches. Server was prompt and helpful with suggestions. Food came out quickly and did feel like the main dishes were reheated. Sweet potato fries had good flavor. The dessert was outstanding. Could easily been split across a group of people as it was super sweet and large. This would be a fun place as a special treat for kids. Wow, we were thoroughly impressed with this establishment! They have only been open a week and service was awesome and food came out quick and delicious! The Scenery: The restaurant is nicely decorated and the atmosphere is fun and inviting! The walls are filled with semi-round booths, the middle of the restaurant has regular booths and the tables in the middle of the restaurant have comfy, beautiful chairs. The Service: 4/5 Our server was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. He was great at suggesting items and they were very tasty as well! He did forget a few things here and there nothing big and he is only just starting! I know that he will be great pretty soon! The Food: Belly Burger - 4/5 We ordered this without the smoked Gouda and it was still delicious. The two patties make it a very hearty meal. My husband's only gripe was that the bun was dry but he said all-in-all it was delicious and he can't wait to try another burger Korean Tacos - 5/5 I usually don't get Korean tacos at most restaurants but today I was craving tacos and the description sounded yummy. Well, aside from the huge chunks of kimchi (maybe chop it up a little because the kimchi was hard to separate once bitten) everything was delicious in this taco. Went to the Central Standard last night with my boyfriend. It was not busy at all, probably due to the cold weather. Our waitress was Raz, she was very friendly and attentive. We got the cheese curds for an appetizer, which were good but could not eat them all. I had the sunny side up turkey burger. It was really good, but a tad greasy and "heavy". Just called Central Standard regarding an item on the menu because I am allergic to dairy. The person on the phone was extremely rude the entire conversation. I asked if the fried pickles were breaded in buttermilk and she said "they might be". I asked her if she could check and confirm that with the kitchen because I was planning on going to eat there and she said "no i cannot go check. i got a restaurant full of people". We tried Central Standard as a group of 4 with 2 picky eaters. The service was great! Very attentive waiter and not overbearing. Excellent food. Try the brisket Mac and cheese, the oh no burger and their French fries are to die for. It was clean, had a nice ambiance, and the food came out fast and hot. I will go here again. We walked in craving a burger and beer, and were told quickly by the hostess no booths were available (we saw plenty) but due to a rotation it got awkward. We decided to belly up because we love a bar top lunch as well. Took quite sometime to be greeted. Gonna break this down quick because why drag it out. Took too long for our appetizer and it was not hot and dry which means it sat in that hot window for too long. My beer was gone and I wasn't offered another, or even an opportunity to ask for one before my burger. Saw our server taking care of others while we were dry. Got our food and my date didn't have the egg on his burger he had requested, so the runner took it back. I was half way finished by the time he had his food. No question from our server on how it was or why he wasn't eating yet. Like this place but I refuse to spend money on an establishment where service means nothing. I can spend $80 somewhere else. Never in my life left a 10.% tip. I usually leave over 20 for good service as I understand the grind. Disappointed and will take our Sunday fun day lunch elsewhere. read more

Food is absolutely amazing here with great specials! I like to get the chicken sandwich but have never gotten something I didn't like here. The food is usually so good that I get to full for a shake, but I have heard great things about those from friends. Would prefer a 2.5 star. Great wait staff. Gripes, #1 their beer menu is way too fufu. Too many "Double hopped chocolate lagers with hints of asparagus". Took my family there and got a table right away but out service was quick and courteous and the food was fabulous! Prices were a bit on the pricey side but the food warranted it. Was recently introduced to Central Standard. Great Happy Hour specials including from Noon to 5 on Saturday and Sunday. And late Happy Hour - after 8:00pm - on week days. Food was ok. Sadly, everything is fried and burgers do not come with standard lettuce, tomato and onion options. In fact, they would be way more amazing with fresh - rather than fried toppings. This place is fairly new (year/year 1/2) been there several times and always have a good experience. The staff are polite and make sure your taken care of(refills, ranch requests...I love ranch) eat burger is unique and has its own personality. When I read through the menu the first time it was overwhelming all the extras that are on top of a burger but man do they work well together. Cheese curds and fried pickles on my burger? Pimento cheese? Yes please, it's my chubby girl anthem! The fact I can sub my fries for tots or sweet potato fries (and more) makes my tummy happy. I have also ordered from there happy hour menu and enjoyed it. It's got a great atmosphere and it's very open with plenty of space for larger families/groups. While I always enjoy Central Standard's food/drink and service/atmosphere, I recently returned with friends and was disappointed to discover an upcharge for substituting an Impossible patty for a beef patty. The 'Impossible' burger was advertised for $15, but my 'Whiskey Bleu' burger with a substituted Impossible patty was $15 + $6...which the waiter did not mention when I ordered. As a vegetarian, I don't mind paying extra for substitutions but would like to be informed of such when considering my options. I blame myself for not arguing the point before paying but have decided to mention it here for others' awareness and will simply take my business elsewhere. For instance, Wellman's Pub allows for similar substitutions at no charge. read more

I've been here three times. The first two times i had no issues. Decent food and average service. The third time however the waitress was very suspicious. We paid with a hundred dollar bill and she came back with the wrong amount of change and no receipt. We aren't dumb we can do math and knew how much change to expect. We were planning to leave her a good tip with it regardless but it was unpleasant that we had to catch her to ask for the receipt and ask for the correct change. She still gave us less than the change we were owed. We debated about speaking with their manager but decided its not worth the drama and still left her a tip and left as we had other plans. But after this experience we wont be coming back. We always tip our servers a good amount but this servers behavior just left a bad after taste for us. read more

The pork belly was a little dry for pork belly, but there was a lot of meat and very little fat so there was a plus. The cheese and sauce they paired was amazing with the pork and beef. All of the food was amazing, everyone said their burger was great. Why 1 star? Two of my dinning companions got sick before we even left the restaurant. Wanting to go home immediately and both left promptly. Myself and the wife made it to the Hy-Vee on Hickman and I had to pull over and run into the restroom. My wife never got fully sick, but didn't feel right for over 24 hours and didn't eat for those 24 hours. Maybe our experience was a 1 off and I really hope this is the case. We decided to get takeout from Central Standard one of the nights that I was in the hospital after giving birth to our first child. I had heard good things but we had never tried it due to it being too far out of a drive, but it was very closely located to the hospital where we we're staying. Our meal was delicious but the most memorable part were the milkshakes. Truly decadent! Well we were really looking forward to trying this place. We ordered the special nachos and a shake to split. The nachos were ridiculously large. But the amazement ends with the size. The nachos really were not good. There was minimal cheese and it felt like there was just a hedge posher of ingredients added to these. We had about 6 nacho chips a person and decided it want worth it so we stopped eating... The shake had the most incredible whipped cream. And the toppings were great. The shake itself was nothing special but the toppings take it over the top! Not sure I will rushing back. The place was not full however the hostess had to bus a table for us as all the tables were dirty. The entire time we were there no one even tried to clean any of the dirty tables... they were not busy so I can't image why no one had time to clear the filth...very sad and disappointed. read more
