Technicians came out on Monday and spent hours at my home with no clear plan. They were unprofessional, incompetent, and misleading in their assessment. I was told the issue was the control panel, which was clearly not the problem. I was charged $1,000 to "fix" my hot water heater, yet it is still not working. Not reliable. Doesn't know anything about plumbing. Tries to get you to spend money on any and everything. First they made an apt. For me first thing in the morning. Then they stood me up. Turns out it didn't get added to their schedule in time. This is AFTER I already paid btw. Then, they told me it was drain lines and needed to pay for a camera to find the leak. Well that was wrong. Then, they tried to tell me it was a drip from my roof that caused gallons of water to collect it my hallway. Seriously? WRONG. Meanwhile they call some other cleanup company hoping I use them so they get a kickback and even more money from me. I then tore up my floors myself, found the problem, hired a real plumber and had the problem fixed the next day easy as ever! I had a leak in my main water line, which I had a hunch of since the beginning. But this company obviously needed more money from me before they could tell me that. Either that or they're idiots... Called Central Plumbing to troubleshoot and repair a water heater that was having hot water issues. Salestaff member Gary upsold me on swapping out the unit instead of actually fixing the issue. This company came recommended by the manufacture website as a certified trained professional. Choosing to go with Central Pluming was the WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!! They charged me an outrageous labor fee and never mentioned their labor per house is $450 per hour. I asked office staff Lisa and Kim what the hourly rate was and they never gave me a exact dollar figure per hour they said it was around the diagnostic fee which is $169. NO CLUE HOW $450 IS CLOSE TO $169. These people are a scam. DO NOT choose this place, they are crooked and steal your hard earned money. What a great experience! Everyone we dealt with was friendly, courteous and helpful. I own a townhome in Baton Rouge for my college kids to live in. They made the situation of being out of town easy. Payment on credit card. They had even scheduled the service before I was able to get the paperwork back to them. The technician explained the whole situation to my son and what happened. I had the misfortune of having Central Plumbing for two separate kitchen renovation projects as they are a plumbing subcontractor for a larger company I do business with. I was really appalled at how bad some of the work was and the crew was arrogant, rude, and spent more time complaining than working. I called to set up a service for cameras down my drain to look for blockages. I was emailed a waiver form to sign and a credit card info form to fil out on 2-2-23. I do so and sent back on 2-3-23. My appointment was on 2-9. I called the morning of 2-9 to confirm if I was on the schedule as I had not received a confirmation. I was told i was on the schedule and they would call me 20 mins before they were on the way. No one showed up all day so i called at 3:45 to be told that I was not on the schedule, and they were not going to do anything for me. I took a day off of work for this. Poor technology and poor service. Would not reccommend. read more

This place rips off people. They do installation work fork for Home Depot and charge outrages prices. My 75 year old sister bought a $339.00 electric water heater from Home Depot and wanted it installed. These people came out and told her it would cost her $1400.00. I guess they saw a little old lady and figured they could take advantage of her as they have more than likely done to others. Luckedly she didn't accept their proposal and talked with me and her daughter. Her daughter found a place that has been in business for over 50 years and they gave her a hourly rate that to get close to Central Plumbing's $1400.00 they would have to work over 10 hours. It turned out they only needed 3 1/2 hours to complete the job and do a full check out and adjustments. Which came to less than $500.00. Central wanted $1400.00 to install a $339.00 heater. No way would I recommend this company to anyone and I plan to inform Home Depot on how Central Plumbing is ripping off customers. read more

BAD experience. I had a gas leak and the gas company took the meter. I had Central Plumbing come out to do an inspection. They wanted $285 for inspection AND permit (NO additional labor). I paid them the next day. Their "plumber" diagnoses and says it needs an ENTIRE new system. I get their quote from the OWNER for an additional $2,850 for this? I get a 2nd opinion from a REPUTABLE plumber who diagnoses (2) small leaks, fixes them in 45 minutes, and files for permit the SAME day. The inspector came out and approves NEXT day. The meter is installed the following day. The ENTIRE cost for this was $343? Central Plumbing's "plumber" totally misdiagnosed, misrepresented, and went for the "home run" price instead of doing his job. I sent the owner a certified letter for reimbursement (I was charged for a permit that was never filed and an untruthful inspection). No response in a month. I wouldn't recommend them for anything whatsoever. read more

I don't usually write reviews. Typically, if I do I'll write something positive because I am often frustrated by the people who only have negative things to say. They seem to be the only ones who even speak up. But this must be shared. Central Plumbing did some work for us after the freeze in BR a few weeks ago. We had 3 busted pipes, and they came out to help. To begin, typical hourly rate was upcharged by $50 ($225/hr instead of the regular $175/hr) - I'm unsure what the exact definition of price-gouging is, but I think this comes pretty close. Last night, one of the repaired pipes began to leak (then gush) water. Upon calling this morning to have it addressed, we were told that they do NOT insure any work done during the freeze. So we were upcharged during a time of significant need, AND they refuse to even come and see what's going on without the typical diagnostic fee on work done by their own staff. I understand that business is business. But I must say, this is NOT how I would run my business. Ever. read more

Do NOT use Central Plumbing! The plumber they sent to my house had no idea what he was doing, used my tools, and charged me for not doing the work! They came out yesterday to change the faucets on my bathroom sink and tub/shower. Took 5&1/2 hours to tell me they had to order parts for the shower & were unable to get the sink faucet disconnected. So I started the day with a working shower & sink that I wanted the fixtures changed & ended the day with a working shower & a sink that is 1/2 disconnected & does not work. This fabulous lack of service cost me $448. I had no idea i was being charged by the hour vs the "open book" rate they offer - that wasn't disclosed. So now I can pay them more money to fix my sink or hire someone else (guess which one I'm gonna do?!) Something that should have cost ... $200 - $300... in total! read more

I cannot stress how much I would not recommend this company. When I called I specifically asked if they service has fireplaces because mine would not light. I was told the diagnostic fee was $147, but if I had them perform the repair I would only be charged for the repair. This was fine because I planned on having them doing the repair. So the technician arrives, looks at it and tells me that gas is coming in but the problem was with the gas logs. Well, I KNEW THAT. THAT is why I called. The tech said they do not work in the gas fireplaces only the gas line coming in. Ok.... So a miscommunication between the girl who took my call.... I can live with that. But what I can't live with is that these people wrote up a bill for $147. For doing NOTHING! So I called their "manager" and explained the issue. She offered to discount the bill by a whopping $15. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. By now I was pretty much over it, but because they guy came out and because I asked him to look at my outdoor grill I offered to give them $100. (Btw.... Same deal with my outdoor grill. Said must be a problem with grill and did zero work) So there was the "manager" .... Faced with a potential new customer and knowing of her staff miscommunication with what I needed from them.... And how does she decide to handle this? 1. Tells me I am wrong and that her employee told me they do not work on gas fireplaces. ( I'm not a dummy..... I was very specific in what I asked) 2. That I was out of their service area. (First I've heard of this. Were they doing me a special favor by coming out?) 3. Declined my generous offer of $100 and insisted "the best " she could do is $120. I called these people because I heard a nice commercial for them. So they spend all that money to attract me as a customer and yet quibble over $20, tell me I am wrong and her girl answering the phone is right, and made me fell of zero importance. I just received notice from Patty at Central Plumbing that she decided not to quote a project due to clearly a misunderstanding - contractors including Consumer Powers Electricians and Well drilling were all waiting on this quote - it took her 10 days to refuse to bid , after many many follow up calls to Central Plumbing during those 10 days. I feel that is unprofessional to me and other contractors who are ready and available to do excellent work . read more

Stay away from this company. If I could rate a company lower than a 1 it would be Central Plumbing. Set up an appointment to have a small leak repaired on one of outside water lines, I had marked the area where the leak was, if the huge wet area wasn't enough, I even offered to meet the plumber at my house but he said he could find it. When I returned home from work I noticed they had worked on the wrong line, Which was not leaking! They said they worked on site for 3 hours, which I don't believe by the small shovel of dirt that was disturbed. Charged me over $400 for NOT fixing he leak. After repeated attempts by my wife and I to resolve this issue they stopped answering our calls and offered us no resolution. I work for a major chemical company that has used central Plumbing in the past, and when I spoke to our company representative about Central, he said " you didn't use central Plumbing at your house, those guys are the worst!" Yeah, the one star says it all: Eek! Me thinks not. THE PROBLEM: We had a problem with air and water sputtering out of our faucets and a toilet that didn't flush good enough, and a sink that needed a stopper in it. THE RESULTS: I chose this plumber because of their cheap service call price and they take that out of the final bill. On Tuesday (the first day), he was late to the appt. an hour and 5 mins. which made me late for a doctor's appt. He charged us the service fee of $55.80 for testing our water pressure which was fine and finding out we have a new water meter that the BR Water Company installed without notifying us first. He tells my father he'd come the next day to finish up. Next day, I go round and round with his ditsy office dispatcher girl AND him because there was miscommunication between the two of them about when he was supposed to show up the 2nd day. She attempted to reschedule me because he had other calls he needed to go on.....meaning he was wrongly going on other calls when he should've put us first because he didn't fix the problems the first day. We got pushed to the back burner so to speak. She finally got him to call me on his personal cell phone and he agreed to come at 5:15 p.m. the second day (Wed.). He quoted me an outrageous $340+ final price and when I asked him how much the parts costs alone, he tells me he'd have to call his distributor to find out then he'd call me back. He also said his supervisor was out sick that day and wouldn't be able to come till Thursday to do a leak detection test and he himself wasn't trained to do the test. I wait for him to call back but he never calls, he never showed up for the 5:15 p.m. appt., and when I called their office, they were closed for the day and some woman answered who sounded like she was on her cell phone standing in her front yard near a busy highway. I explain my frustrations to her and tell her how disappointed and angry I am and I even told her my experience and she tells me she'll "pass it on". She didn't even have time to write all of it down, much less take my name or phone number. Lame company, unprofessional to the utmost, they don't return calls, they don't have good communications between their workers, they lie to their customers, they quote outrageous prices they can't break down into details. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will change the price without notifying you, and will not return your phone calls after words. I had them come by because a gas line they installed was leaking, they said it would be free. I had to be at work, so had a friend open the door for the tech. Once there, the price suddenly went up. The tech disregarded my friend's instructions to stop and wait to talk to me, then forced them to sign an invoice on my behalf. I tried to call weekly after this to discuss my concerns with the company, and somehow the manager is never there (and has never tried to return my calls). This company is completely unethical. I just had ATMOS gas company come to my house because I smelled gas. They discovered a leak at the brass valve connecting to my hot water heater. I stood right beside the gas serviceman and watched as his gas meter went crazy and then go back to normal when he shut the gas valve off. I called Central Plumbing to schedule an appointment for someone to come fix the leak, and possibly install a brand new hot water tank. They were happy to do that; however, in addition to the repair work, they were going to charge me to test the valve for a leak. Now, I understand that they need to confirm the leak before doing any work. BUT--to charge for that test is completely unethical. I have heard of similar issues with this company, but didn't know anything first-hand. Now I do. read more

**UPDATE to my review from 2 weeks ago** So after filing a complaint with the BBB, this company still chooses not to acknowledge their failure to tell us up front that they don't work on the logs & that we had already told them at the time we called that we checked the line for leaks but that our issue was with the smell emitted during use of the fire logs. Your company has unsatisfactory business practices, not to mention the nonexistent customer service skills in the office, and after trying to resolve through the BBB, it's obvious you have no intention to resolve customer issues FAIRLY. I will be looking into other avenues (Federal Trade Commission, Louisiana Attorney General, Louisiana Dept. of Revenue, etc) for resolution in this matter because that is how strongly I feel that this company should be held responsible for their treatment of customers & how they conduct business. It is only $120, but to me that is hard earned money & shouldn't be taken away by people like this, people only interested in fattening their pockets, no concern for customer service at all. If I don't see any of my money back, then I at least hope the negative reviews left here as well as Yelp & Google & the complaint filed with the BBB deters at least someone from wasting their hard earned money with this company. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER CAME ACROSS IN MY LIFE! Our water heater pilot stopped working on a Sunday. My husband calls Monday morning and was told that no one was available until the next day. Get a call later that day and was told that someone could come by the same day...sounded great. Unfortunately, the tech comes and leaves us two separate estimates. The first estimate was for a part (gas control valve) we were told that he would have to do research to find the part because it is difficult to find (Water heater is only 6 years old!) and the second estimate was for a new water heater with an estimate of $1400!! The tech told us he would call us tomorrow (Tuesday) to give an update. Never heard from the tech! None of this made since to my husband and I when we were told the part needed was extremely hard to find. We felt from the get go they were just trying to make us get a new water heater. With a fast search on Amazon we found the part and my husband ordered it. Just to see where we stood with central plumbing I called on Wednesday afternoon explaining we do not have hot water and I have two little ones that we are having to bring to other places just to give them baths and the receptionist told me she would get in touch with the tech to find out about an update. She tells me that the tech ordered the part and it should come in on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon and that once the part arrived to call them and let them know. Keep in mind you pay $165.90 just for them to come look and you would think since they are a plumbing company they would have parts readily available....WRONG! Once the part came in it was going to cost another $165.90 to install. I was told that our water heater was still covered under warranty and that the parts were free and shipping was free. Friday rolls around and we still do not have the part that was ordered from the tech and the part we ordered from Amazon wasn't going to be in for several days. I called central plumbing again to get an update and was told I needed to call Rheem to track the package. This did not sit well with me because the customer should not be responsible for tracking a package that central plumbing placed the order. Central plumbing explained to me that I had to be the one to call because the warranty information was with my husband and I. I called rheem to only be told they do not have any information I was giving them and I called central plumbing to explain they couldn't find the tracking information and that central plumbing should have received an email with the tracking information. The receptionist told me that the tech has been doing plumbing work for a very long time and that Rheem has never done this in the past. She told me that she will check with the tech and give me a call right back...I never heard back. Weekend goes by and I get a phone call on Monday from central plumbing to tell me that they needed my email to send me estimates. I open my email and it's for a new water heater!!! Why on earth would I get this email if I am still waiting on the part that they told me we would have delivered to our house?? I emailed back explaining to them and then was sent another email with an estimate for the part and shipping with labor cost!!! Central plumbing then tells me our tank is no longer covered under warranty and that's why we have to pay $388.90 for the part and labor. This company lied so many times to us and clearly shows that the part was never ordered in the first place by the tech! Our Amazon package finally comes in and my husband replaced the gas control valve himself and guess what?! It still wouldn't turn on and we were told by several friends to change out the thermocouple since the pilot won't stay on. Ordered again from Amazon and changing the thermocouple worked. Not only did central plumbing completely waste our time, but they clearly are in it for the money! To sum this up they tried selling us a new water heater and if we would have gone the part route with them and it would not have worked we would have been charged more to either get us to get another part or to cave in with getting a new water heater. I do not recommend this company to anyone!! Use a more reliable plumbing company. My fault for not reading reviews first and seeing how terrible of a company they truly are! read more

Unsatisfactory communication and Customer service. In May 2019 Central Plumbing was one of the only plumbers available to call on a sunday evening. We paid the overtime evening weekend price to have a tech come out and unstop our line that was backing up into the house, after a few hours he said it was clear. Low and behold it was not clear and the system started backing up again the very next day. We called again and asked for help, they came back and did a "hydro" of the line to clear it out. and all was fine until this past Sunday August 2019. I called on Monday and explained that the same situation was happening again and that last time we needed the hydro to clear the line and would they be able to come out and do the hydro so we would have some peace of mind before leaving for a vacation. They said sure, but they would want to do an estimate to replace the main line so this would not happen again. I agreed. I was at work and my Father in law came to the house to meet the plumber and be there on my behalf. They did not talk to my father in law and did not give him an update, they did not ask for him to run any water or seem to do any due dillangace in making sure the line was clear, they did not do an estimate to replace the line and when i got home and looked at the bill it did not mention the hydro and all they communicated to my father in law was that it was, "ALL CLEAR" and we paid $229. As you can guess, it was not all clear. After giving my daughter a bath the line stoped up again, the toilets would not flush and sewage backed up into the tub and shower. I had to call again and ask why the hydro was not done, and that they needed to come back and finish the job. I then had to take the day off work to make sure the hydro was done and that the line was in fact clear. The bill came $450 for the 2nd day. I asked if there was any consideration they could take for the fact that communication was not handled correctly and a 2nd day was needed. after back and forth for over 2 hours they insisted I needed to simply pay the $450. I will never call upon this company again. They do not have good faith or concern for their customers. I will look else where to find a company to replace the main line to my house as my trust in Central Plumbing has been diminished. read more

I am Andy, and I write this review for "Central Plumbing" repair service shop in Baton Rouge (City of Central) in the name of my wife, and my daughter. We live in City of Central, off Hooper Rd. since 2001. Around 2005 we upgraded our 2nd floor and Central Plumbing did the plumbing for water, sewer and installed a bath tub and a toilet bowl (commode) in the new built bathroom. For the water pipes they came three more extra times because every time they "finished" laying the pipes it was leaking somewhere else. The bath tub kept leaking down through the ceiling into the main bedroom uncountable number of times. They just couldn't make it not to leak. Every time somebody took a shower in this 2nd floor, water was dripping in our bedroom. We asked them to come back again and again and to some point they refused us, didn't respect the warranty, talk back harsh, and so on. We had to ask another plumber to come, and this one made a big hole into the ceiling to fix the leakage. The hole is visible even today and it gives us hard times to market the house. In June 2011, I fixed tiles in that bathroom, so I had to move the commode installed by Central Plumbing in 2005-2007. I cannot describe what horrible situation we found underneath. The wood was rotten all around it and further, into the floor and even in the wall, so in few months probably this commode would have fall through the ceiling in our 1st floor bed, I guess. The toilet bowl was pinned down with some thin wood screws that wouldn't hold even a picture on a wall. The sewer pipe was off the center of the bowl, the wax ring didn't work, and so on... I could continue to infinity to mention the low quality job done by Central Plumbing in our house in 2005 and later on, until 2007. To late we we realized it is "dangerous" for our home to call them anymore. No hard feelings, because we understand that a growing community like City of Central still misses quality and professional service... since it is growing, and competition is weak. Demanded money before I could even test the work they did! Made me feel like the company was hurting financially and maybe suggest work that was not needed. Summary: Paid a lot of money for the plumber to not fix what he was suppose to fix. Instead, he charged us for work we did not ask for. When confronting office staff about the problem, they would not return phone calls. Totally unsatisfied with the service performed, and I would recommend you find another plumber. I was unable to attend when the plumber came out to fix a leak under a sink in our business, so an associate handled everything in my place. The plumber charged ~$350 to install a p-trap and about 1-2ft of PVC pipe to the drain in the building (which is right behind the sink he was suppose to be fixing). When explaining the work that needed to be done to me over the phone, it sounded like a lot. When I actually saw the work done (it took 1 hour for him), it amounted to nothing more than disconnecting the pipe from under the sink and adding a new one. Despite the work, the leak was still not fixed. The plumber said we needed a new sink because of a crack in the ceramic base. He said if I bought the sink, he would change it out for $180. After changing the sink out myself, no crack could be found in the ceramic. So, I paid $350 for him to not fix anything and do work no one asked him to do. When contacting the company to dispute charges, they informed me they would call back when they found the information to my case. They never called. I called again on the same day, and I received the same response with no call back. I called again on the next day and a representative named Tina said that because the charges were listed and someone signed off on it, there was nothing I can do. Overall, one complaint is paying for work that was not done and paying for work that was not asked for. If a supposed expert cannot tell what is wrong, it should be admitted at the beginning before any kind of work is to be done. Basic business practice. My other complaint is the office staff not taking care of the customer in an acceptable manner. If you say you will call, then you should call in a timely manner. The only "good thing" that came from this is that the plumber showed up when they said they would show up. I guess getting a "free" drain he valued at $187 (regular drain mind you, nothing special like bronzed or brushed nickel) would almost make want to give this company a 2 star rating. Almost. That is until I look at Home Depot and see that charging $187 for a normal bathroom drain is outrageously expensive. read more

I was referred to Central Plumbing by the main office of Koehler because we have an old Koehler jacuzzi tub that came with the house we purchased and we needed to have it repaired/serviced or replaced. The first time that I called, I was told that someone would be calling me back to schedule an appointment, no one ever called me. About a month later, I called again and was scheduled with the Koehler Service person for the following day. I was told that the service call would cost $147.00. I was fine with that. The next day, I called in the morning to confirm our appointment and see if they could give me a better idea of what time I could expect the service person. I was told that he was working out at some of the refineries and they would let me know when he was finished as I would be the next service call after that. By 3:00 in the afternoon, we were still waiting so I called again. I was put on hold and a different woman took my call. She told me that our home was outside their service area (apparently anyplace that is 20 miles away from their office). Because I was outside of their service area there would be an additional charge of $240.00!!! Yes, that is what I said....in addition to the $147.00 just to come and look at our unit, they wanted an additional $240.00 BEFORE they did anything! I was obviously upset because I had already spoken with office personnel on two previous occasions and NO ONE had bothered to mention this additional charge. They never did tell me when their "serviceman" would arrive, but after asking several more questions, I determined that this serviceman works at other locations and does Koehler service calls after his other day job. If you need help from these people, I sure hope that you are not outside their service area because it will cost you $387.00 just to come in your door. To make matters worse, the two women that I dealt with are Mother and daughter and they both live in the same town as I do, so they were full aware of how far or close I live to their office. They came out 2 hrs one day 1 hours the next day and 6 days later they came back and said that they don't have the right equipment n have to come back later. After another 3 days, they call me and said I have to pay the amount for the job they done first before continuing. I'm just soo frustrated and call the representative that help me there ( Patrick). Guess what they told me......Patrick doesn't make the decision and u have to talk with someone else. I just receive a letter from them and they demanded me to pay $2497.70 ( for an unfinished and horrible service that they giving me) or they will take legal action. I bought a Kohler walk in tub for my wife who had fallen in our standard tub. After a week I was having with the draining of the tub. I called the company that sold me the tub and they called Central plumbing who handles the warranty work for Kohler. They called and I set an appointment for that work plus a quote for a tankless water heater. The person who showed up had the title estimator. This estimator told me at least 3 reasons he would not or could not do my Kohler warranty but would happily quote a water heater.I let him submit his quote and it was $950 higher than the company i bought from. Central plumbing kept telling me I had to get them access to the tub that they had the warranty contract for. I still fell that should not be my problem and they were very ugly on that point. They never did their warranty work. I was lucky that the company that sold me the tub handled the warranty work even though they didn't have the contract. The installation of my hot water heater has been a joke from the start. First go around was when the tech half assed the installation by not changing the valves and connections that needed to be installed with my new tank. I had to have another 2 visits 1 to verify and 2 do the final installation correctly! (I thought this would be the final) Moving forward here to find out they did not install the top vent pipe going out from the attic through the roof correctly. Thank god I noticed the pipe was not straight on the outside and when I checked out the tank it was not put in place correctly to hold it with a big gap. This my friends is carbon monoxide that was not fully venting! Called and made an appointment asap for the next day and was told they would be here in the afternoon. So I spent the day waiting with no results so I called and they said they tried to call me (had an old number) with no answer and that the tech was on his way home. We contacted this company to unstop a plumbing line from our washing machine. They placed a cable (snake) in the outside kitchen drain. The repair man got the cable stuck in the line. He cut the cable, and left part of it sticking out of the line. He charged an addtional $100.00 due to his broken cable and left the cable sticking out frm the drain, which could be a hazard. The company refuses to remove the cable, and refuses to refund the additonal charge of $100.00. My calls to the supervisor or owner have not been returned. The bill was $255.13, and we still have a clogged drain, and because of the cable stuck in the line, other plumbers are unable to put a camera in the line to determine where the break or stoppage is in the line. When we believed they were sending someone out to remove the cable, their employee came out and wrote an estimate to repair the line in the amount of over $5,000.00.
