The North Meadow of Central Park is one of my favorite spots. Beautiful trees in all seasons. Green luscious grass all summer. Clean walkways leading to recreational activities. Children playing, and owners walking dogs. If you look close this time of year you will spot squirrels scampering about. Birds of many species are available to the avid bird watchers. There are paths to follow and rocks to climb. I carry my little map. You don't want to take a wrong turn and get lost in the park. While you're exploring visit the North Meadow. Or maybe not! I'll have the peace and quiet to myself. There's plenty of benches to sit on while I Day Dream.

The facility had several soccer turf fields, gymnastics area, and couple of basketball courts. The lobby area had a ton of awards, medals and trophies that all the teams won. There were multiple vending machines as well. There were several party rooms at the back side. The rest rooms were kids friendly, as they had mini sinks at lower height for smaller kids. There were multiple staff members assigned to conduct the party. First they took the kids to basket ball courts where they did some relay running, played dodgeball and then did rope tug wars. They took the kids to fountains for water break few times. After the activities, the kids went back to party room where they were served pizzas, fruits, cheese platter, juice and sodas. The pizzas were decent. Finally they orchestrated the birthday song, assisted with cake cutting ceremony and handed slices of cakes to everyone. Overall the service from them was nice.

Even they said this place frequently gives them a hard time. It was my first time playing here and when I asked the staff what the check in process was like, they were rude and dismissive. Not that it matters, but I didn't know these were clay courts. The online reservation system is outdated and gives you the bare minimum level of information. The only silver lining of playing here is that it's a reasonable $15 an hour to play if you have the NYC tennis permit. The locker rooms and bathrooms are pretty dirty so I'm not even sure what those fees are going towards

There's nothing quite as inspiring and overstimulating as a night walk through NYC. I love the city so much because there is literally a group of grown men and women playing a competitive game of flag football at 8:11pm on a Saturday night with 2 legit refs in pinstripe shirts. The game is on a brand new turf field right along the Hudson with the Financial Districts skyline glistening in the distance, enjoying the show just like I am. FiDi skyline is lowkey underrated.... But honestly, where else is this happening? I mean I'm sure it happens elsewhere lol but you see it all the time in NYC. Adults playing soccer, roller hockey, football, basketball, kickball, softball, etc. It's awesome. I think it is one of the good things about people living on top of each other in such an extreme manner. While it's cramped, everything is so close so it makes it so easy to get together. When I lived in LA, you needed to plan like two weeks in advance to link someone that lived far from you and then one of you probably bails last minute due to some crazy traffic or cuz that drive is horrend-Damn this chick just dropped a TD that hurts. QB put it right on the button too...next play mentality though. But in NYC, more so than anywhere else I've been, people feel safe and comfortable to be themselves. I'm a firm believer that in order to be truly happy, you need to be okay and content being yourself while also having a sense of belonging with other people. Some of my happiest times have been post men's league basketball game or pickleball league, just going out to a happy hour with the team BUZZING after a win. You feel so connected with other people and with yourself. At least I do. But I'm kinda a weirdo and think about sh*t like this too much ahahaha-- Damn this QB has a LASER ahahahaha I love watching a gunslinger. But yeah, I'm getting a little too reflective so Imma wrap this up. I get inspired when people do things that bring them joy, even if it's a flag football game at 8:23pm on a Saturday night. Also, if you are going to the entrance from the southern approach, stay west and don't walk up on the waterway. Unless it is warm and you want a scenic view, in which case, go north and walk along the water and around the building as it is a great view. In the winter, you will be on a date with the icy wind.

My favorite thing about this playground is the huge bathroom. The one I used today had three toilets in the ladies room. There's always toilet paper too! There's a drinking fountain and the park is kept clean. It might have been five stars but I find the gate hard to open. You're still sure to find me here with my friends and their kids. It's close to the East River and to home.
