I love that Central Haight Market is still around. It's been around for at least 20 yrs and that is no easy feat in today's economy. It's a pretty standard convenience store - conveniently located by the Buena Vista park and bus stop. I used to pop in here regularly back in the day - when I lived closer. Now I venture in here to say hi to the absolutely adorable cat named CoCo that roams the aisles of Central Haight Market with a soft coat of well groomed fur and a curious gleam in his eye. He's a real charmer and even rocks a bowtie collar. His owner, who was behind the counter, when I stopped in recently, was gracious and helpful when I asked questions about CoCo. San Francisco is a magical city. It's even more magical when you discover gems like CoCo, who also call this city home. Trust. read more

What an upgrade! thank you Joseph and team for renovating this store. Now if you can just stay open until 12 AM for late night snacks :)

Great spot, the new ownership has done a lot to improve the place and is always super friendly.

Wow! This corner store has completely transformed in 2025! The new ownership is so neighborly! ItThis place is more like a grocery store with everything one can imagine! From amazing ice cream selection to natural foods and their alcohol selection is tops in the city! They are planning on expanding to a bakery next door. So exciting for our neighborhood read more

This place literally stole from me. Named a price, charged me $10 extra, then lied about the original price.

This is a random corner store on Haight. I had never been inside or ever really noticed it. It's another boring corner store. With its location on Haight, it could be a lot more creative, fun, and interesting. It's boring and the same as all other stores. The drink selection is random and nothing stands out, but I did walk away with an Honest tea half and half. It was $2 and I drank that drink at Ritual Coffee. read more

Central Haight Market - Grocery Near Me - San Francisco, California

See all

Central Haight Market has all the right names in micros, wines, gourmet foods, etc. all stoked nicely, priced pricey. it's in a prime retail location. only drawback- parking isn't so good. drink: yerba mate (peach terre, 2.49) -nice peach tea with a spot of sugar within. drips: -4 stars for convenience, not for pricing. location pricey. read more

Have loved this neighborhood market for years. It is just a hop, skip and jump from my apartment and I pop in often for the best choices of ice cream, sodas, chips, etc. The folks who work here are also super nice, pleasant, smart, informative, fun to chat with and just generally a joy to have nearby. Because I'm a regular I'm happy it is near by so I can get last minute items and also take a minute to visit with the wonderful guys! read more

This review is for Central Haight Cafe, which is right next door to the market and has the same owner. :) Upper Haight has lots of coffee options. Tons, actually. You've got your high end cafes, like Flywheel, Stanza, the little cafe inside Haight Street Market (my personal favorite), and, of course, right across the street from Central Haight Cafe, Ritual. Then you've got your mid-grade-but-decent cafes, like the cafe inside Whole Foods, Reverie (Cole Valley but we'll still count it), Cafe Cantata, and the Panini Cafe (which is maybe slightly below mid grade but their prices on coffee and breakfast/lunch can't be beat). There are probably around 7 more places beyond the ones mentioned above to get coffee and espresso in the surrounding area, but I'll stop babbling and tell you why CENTRAL CAFE is in my *Top 3* favorite coffee spots in the Upper Haight. -Excellent espresso drinks, every almond latte or iced americano I've gotten has been impeccable -The price point. A latte from here is much cheaper that Stanza or Ritual but still totally delicious -BEST chocolate chip cookies and muffins in the Haight! I've been disappointed many times by the other options I've tried around and this place is the best for cookies and muffins. Definitely give it a shot whether you're traveling or are a local who has overlooked it. Great coffee, bites, and vibes. read more

These are the same products that you'd find at whole foods. Possibly the reject items sold to even higher prices. The salad bar is cheaper. But the rest is highway robbery. Sorry, honest analysis. read more

Walked in wanting to support a little cafe in the neighborhood. Walked in with the Cafe empty. Stood there for 5 minutes. Looked in the back and guy is washing dishes. He's not looking my direction and that's fine. Thinking about getting a sandwich on top of a cup of coffee. He finally looks up from dish washing and looks my direction. I say "Hi" and he turns away and continues to wash more dishes. I turn around and patronize another cafe. Acknowledging me would've definitely bought you time and kept a customer happy. Cafes are some a dozen in this hood. Poor service here. read more

This is my corner market ... I stop in here at least once a day. They have everything I need but then again, my needs are basic. Seriously, my bathroom light has been burned out for over a week and I find myself adapting to showers in the dark. That being said, this little market suits me ... but not so much for what they sell but for the people that work there. I adore the evening counter guy ("T") more than words can express. He always has a joke for me and his goodbye of, "stay pretty" will always bring an appreciative smile. His latest goal is to apparently marry me off ... the past few times I've been there, he's introduced me to some strange man saying, "he's good guy, he treat you nice ... you don't like? i find someone for you." T ... really .... that bottle of scotch and this bag of cat food is all I need for today ... but i'll be back to see the man menu tomorrow. yeah, these guys are loud, hilarious and all up into the happenings of my life ... reminds me of my own family a little bit. Its nice, actually. read more

Wow, I didn't realize so many people love this store. To me, it's just A-OK. It's convenient and they carry a bit of everything, but it's kind of expensive. I bought a 2 pack of butter for $2.99 there today. I know, no one was holding a gun to my head but I just put it on the counter and WHOA! $2.99. You'd think even in a convenience store 2 sticks of butter would be $2, max. Whatever. They have a small but nice selection of breads, juice, crunchy and non-crunchy choices for boxed mac and cheese, pasta sauce, ect. $10 min for credit card. read more

Corner Markets...every neighborhood needs one! Having a great one is especially wonderful and I believe that this one qualifies to be a pretty great one! I stopped in quickly to this one on the way to the bus and my husband and I met the super friendly gentleman who was working behind the counter. We needed to get some change for the bus and he was helpful and kind to do that for us and even let us know which bus to take. We even decided to get an ice cream sandwich at a super low price of a dollar and change in the cooler right next to the register. What a great and convenient location for this market to be and looking around, it had just about anything and everything you may hope to find at your local neighborhood mart. Worth stopping in if you need to buy something convenient :) read more

T is a mashup of Ali G. and Borat. It's that simple. It'll be a fun day if he decides to take on some of Bruno's affectations. Anyway, it's close, has a good energy drink selection, the game's always on so I don't miss much when paying, everybody's nice, and there have been great murals on the outside for as long as I've been around. Also, they always seem to have a random copy of the Financial Times on their rack. Odd, given that the block is largely a bong-driven economy. Maybe T knows something I don't. read more

It's just a corner store, so it's not going to knock your socks off with prices or selection. But it's a 5-star joint because the guys who run it are super awesome. Anyone you find behind the counter is chill and friendly. And they don't have to be -- they deal with Haight St. wiggers and runaways staggering out of Buena Vista Park all day, every day. T, the nighttime guy who literally works 350 nights a year (the only nights he takes off are Tuesdays when the Giants have a home game), couldn't be nicer, funnier, or more helpful. A classic character, always in a good mood, and the unofficial mayor of the block. read more

The folks here allow an aging bastard such as yours truly to revel in one of life's simple pleasures still available at $2 a pop: Cold Negro Modelo tall boys, savored in the afternoon sun sitting in the park watching all there is to see on Haight Street with my dog and my girl by my side, posted up in the grass. Thanks for being dependable in the realm of an old school liquor store. read more

I used to, until a few months ago, live at Page and Masonic so this place was a frequent haunt of mine. Even now I'm only down the hill so I make it in once or twice a week. T, the guy with the goatee, loves three things in this world: The San Francisco Giants, Hard Core Gangsta Rap, and Ice Cream. So, let's say for the sake of argument that you were a local resident who might suddenly have the strong urge to eat ice cream at midnight, but for some reason also find that your decision making skills have diminished simultaneously... if for some reason this might possibly happen to someone else, this place is for you. "T" will begin a Netflix-style queue of Ice Cream flavors for you... he's in charge, this is not a *suggestion* you're buying this one. Me: "How late you open tonight?" T: "Until you come back." 1:00am I walk in. Me: "Wow, you're still open?!" T: "Finally! Now I can close!" T, Adam, etc = 5 Stars Selection = 4 Stars 1.75 for a bottle of water = wtf?! read more

Cause T and Noel rocks! I need to own stocks at this place, since I'm there almost everyday. read more

Sure they're not open late, but the fact that I'm actually bummed when I have to go to another store just because I like the dudes who tend counter here it means that they're doing something right. I've been coming here for just over 1 year since moving to the area and only go elsewhere for beers, smokes, and the like if these guys are closed. Even if I find parking closer to another store I'll walk down here if we're trying to get a 6 pack or a bottle of $9 wine. T and the guys are awesome, like I said, and they recognize you and want to chat when you come in. Decent selection of micro-brews, imports and crappy beer, but not as wide a selection as the stores further down Haight in either direction. Until they stop carrying Trumer or the fellas quit working here, I'll stay a regular. Stay Tru Central Haight Market. read more

Had I known that I could provide a review for my FAVORITE corner store I would've done it much sooner! This place has anything that I ever need and I love these guys - T & Noel are the best! Always cracking me up! I'm so excited that the new little coffee/sandwich shop is back to being open and can't wait to start going there regularly! read more

I think I've probably spent over a grand in here on wine, beer, Red Bull, and junk food in the past 5 months I've lived in this neighborhood. My fiance and I go here at least twice a week. Sometimes twice a day. Heh. Mr. T, the guy who is ALWAYS working the counter, is awesome. He knows everyone by name. And everyone seems to know him. What a cool little neighborhood-y spot! read more

I'm a longtime New Lite loyalist, I'll admit, so I don't go to Central Haight as often as I maybe should. But that's no reflection on its quality; it's got everything you need and more, and if you don't leave there smiling you clearly have not found your bliss. read more

My kind of little market. When you just need a handful of things, some Ranier Cherries, a pack of gum, a few peaches, and some juice, why not stop here? The prices are decent, and it's kind of a lowbrow joint, but in a good way. Reminds me of Mexican markets at home, which I am a big fan of. If you're trying to feed a house of 10, then go to Safeway (oy...) If it's just you, the sunshine, some grapes, and the grass under your bum in Dolores Park, you got it made. read more

Chocked full of good organic food and beverages. I think the prices are a little higher than at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, but I love that it is a neighborhood place in the Haight with a truly hippy vibe. read more

Super cute cafe, Love this place! great coffee and customer service. Need to check this place out

Just walked by as we visit , saw this Red Lips mural and love it . Stunning ..... took a few pics and had a solid lunch .

the one with the bob marley-type painted on the building. this used to be my corner store, but now i moved. i miss it. it's just a typical corner store. (tropicana and frozen pesto pizza. w00t.) EXCEPT! there is a bottle of vodka shaped like a tommy gun. everytime i go in there the owner asks if i want to get it. (and his hand reaches for the bottle of jim and a pack of smokes when my roommate and i go in) he's a total character. i dig him. and he gave me a free ashtray once. read more

i go to this place atleast once a day, sometimes more. The couple that run it are awesome, as are everyone that works there. There are prepared foods which have definitely come in handy in a pinch and are delicious. The prices are fair, the people that work here are genuinely good and nice people, which is rare to find in this setting. It's a great convenience store, but more than that, as it rounds out my shopping for the week and keeps me from having to go to a chain grocery store. All my weekly grocery shopping is done in the haight, and I bet I still spend less than you =) read more

Came into the cafe, wanted to find a place to sit thinking there was free wifi, as said on the door. It turns out that I had to buy something that was at least 5 bucks. I decided to use my hotspot, then I got kicked out for not buying anything. I wasn't bothering anyone and there was no one waiting for my seat. read more

I love my corner store what can I say? They love me and I love them! They take care of me and buy things i want when they don't have them it's pretty amazing! read more

Nothing beats this corner store. I've lived across the street for 3 years now and part of the reason I don't want to move is this place. Mr. T, as you've read in previous reviews, is the MAN. He runs the night shift and is always there for ya when you need him- be it some munchies, blunts, or a liquor run! Prices are what they are, selection is impressive compared to other stores. They re-stock weekly and if you notice your regular item is out, they'll be sure to get it back on the shelves ASAP. No one has made a shout-out to the morning guy - Noel! Also a badass - kind, funny, and helpful! Those guys have had my back since the day I moved in, so I'll have theirs. I love Central Haight Market!! read more

This is my corner store and its a huge part of our community! Mr T makes you feel like family! Love this place!

Tell you the truth, I would not have bothered reviewing it, but other people are doing it. It's just another liqueur store to me, were you can buy lottery tickets and a candy bar. I don't hate the place, but it doesn't have anything significant about it to warrant 4 or five stars. read more

These guys are great. They are always nice to my daughters. Only gripe is that they always run out of Anchor Steam, but I won't take a star off for it because they are always there when I need cookies, beer and ice cream. read more

The BEST sandwich ever, and exceptional service. The Hot Pastrami is especially divine. Ask for Victoria, you won't be disappointed.
