Central Ave is full of lil shops that serve cultural food, hair salons, nail shops, bodegas. This spot is hidden among them, but is a helluva gem of a fish spot. If you walk close enough to it, you can smell the loveliness of fried or grilled fish, and if you peek inside there's usually one woman at the helm, cooking and frying and grilling fish like she loves it, but a 7 day rest she'd love even more. I smile at her with my eyes and I'm very patient with whatever speed she makes my food. The food prices are reasonable, and whatever you think you're gonna get for the money you've paid is nowhere near the amount of food you get. No matter how many times I've ordered from them, I still am hella surprised when its presented to me. Fried with just the right amount of crunch, no extra oil, the fish mounted on top of a mountain of seasoned fries, which are also great tasting and all the items fried have their individual taste, (cuz Ugh I hate it when everything in one meal that's fried tastes like the oil its fried in). Last time I went, I ordered flounder, & she said she didn't have any, but had basa. When I asked for scallops, she said they were frozen & gave a lil Mama Frown, so I got calamari instead. WONDERFUL. This is a great little local gem if you want some casual home cooked seafood. They have a huge menu of cooked food options, I actually didnt see any fish for sale. So I chose the fried combo seafood platter ($10) and broiled salmon with salad and rice. The portions were HUGE and delicious. The 2 ladies who were cooking were VERY nice. Literally it is like mom's home cooking. The ambiance is very casual lile any fish market establishment. There is table seating there and soft drinks available for purchase. They will serve you at the table if you dine in. Overal a great CASUAL spot for a great seafood meal. The Central Fish Market is a great place to find amazing and fresh tasting fish at an unbeatable price. My favorite is the Fried Basa Filets with Cajun French Fries. My husband loves the Fried Seafood Meal substituting the calamari for extra shrimp. For $20 you can feed 5 people easily and they have so many menu options to choose from. The market was nice and the food was good. We placed a pick up order over the phone for the fried shrimp and fries, fried white fish and grilled branzino. The branzino is frozen as we saw it being taken out the package. The branzino was seasoned with pepper, had onions and garlic inside and was beautiful! However, I did not like that the lady that cooked and served our food didn't have a mask on. She definitely should have worn a mask. So no plans for us to go back for a while. We walked by and the signs looked very appetizing also the prices were super cheap. The place looks like a fixer upper but it's clean. I used the bathroom to wash my hands and that was also clean. I want to put black pepper on my french fries but then noticed that it wasn't pepper it was actually cumin and that's what they like to put on the fish... and it was actually really good with a little bit of lemon. I stopped by this place looking for salmon. I walked in and it looks dirty and empty...not much fish. They have more beverages than anything. The fish theydid have looked fresh (talapia, red snapper, shrimp)...but it wasn't much of a selection. The woman working there was very nice though and even asked a guy if they had salmon.
