This is nothing compared to the real harsh truth of reality. This honest review is for the sole purpose of bettering the company and hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Clearly the person bothered is probably the lazy worker who saw the review or the shop owner*** The person working behind the register did not welcome us coming in the store. My partner and I entered twice and I noticed not once did she say anything to us. I saw her look up, look at us and look back down. She was sitting down the whole time looking at her laptop. Did not get up once. Lazy. Meanwhile, when an older couple walked in she immediately said hello and welcomed them. I don't care for discrimination but choosing and picking who you want to welcome in your store is a red flag. She may have judged us by the way we looked or dressed because we felt unwelcome so we left. My suggestion is to not pick and choose who they want to speak to because it was a lost sale, lost customer retention, lost business. For that reason we left and purchased nothing. Employee was unfriendly and did not smile. In the future I suggest saying hello, being more attentive instead of sitting down doing nothing.

The first floor consists of new books, guides , and items. While the second floor is used collectible books. The 2.5th floor has the museum. We really enjoyed not only shopping but learning about Hans Andersen. The prices depended on items. Most used books were collectibles and on the higher end pricing. Staff was nice, they held our items in the front while we visited the upstairs.

They had a great selection of so many games as well. The Hans Christian Andersen Museum is upstairs (highly recommend checking out) so they had a lot of his books displayed which I enjoyed seeing! Every book I checked out was priced fairly and I didn't think they were trying to take advantage of their tourists which was nice. Staff were also very friendly! Metro has been around forever and I've been coming here since I was a kid. I remember there were…read morearcade cabinets in the corner and amazing t shirts and posters hanging from the wall. They would even do signings which blew my mind. I was little and wanted to read up about Black Panther and one of the employees went into the back and opened a new box that had just delivered the Christopher Priest Black Panther trade which blew my mind in 1998. Metro was my favorite comic shop and remember driving from Westwood to Santa Barbara just to visit one time. Today, Metro still has a great selection(action figures and manga too), but is just overrun with overstock. They have back issues and books on the floor, on top of long boxes, and in random places. They run sales, but they need to be more aggressive because they don't have the space. It seems like cards are really helping Metro stay alive and they have tables for games. I know a lot of comic shops have had to lean into games more and sacrifice the back issue long boxes for extra table top space. That might be the play here which breaks my heart. Just want Metro to thrive and be clean to welcome that young potential comic reader.
