First I requested a car not van but was told if I wanted ride it was next in line so I had to take paying a 30% up charge for van then driver would not take my credit card charged $68 for ride. Omg. Got stuck in the rain on my.bike near bayside. So I jumped into a cab. Then before I could say no. The driver let another passenger in and said (he would be sharing the ride) I was cold and wet. Thinking we are both going to Miami Beach.. Then he said he would be dropping them off at the port. Way out of my way. After dropping them off 20 minutes later. He kept the meter going. Used this cab company from Miami airport to our hotel today. About 8 miles supposed to be 20 min. The driver drove on the shoulder at a high speed, we almost got in 3 accidents ( no exaggeration), he missed the exit and when we finally arrived at our destination the cost was $64.00!!!!! And he pushed my husband for a tip. To top it off the credit card machine "was broken" and he insisted on cash. Never again!!!!!! This is exactly why Uber has taken over the market. Today, my mom and I were charged $28 to go 1.6 miles in downtown Miami. The cab had a credit card device but the driver only wanted cash for payment. What a disaster this company has become. If There was a minus rating, I would give it. I reserved a cab a day in advance and was assured the driver would call 1/2 hour before arriving. When no call came, I called the company and once again was assured that my reservation was in and that a cab would be coming. The cab never showed up and when I called again, I was cut off. One more time I tried calling, this time from the Front Desk of my Condo as I waited in the Lobby to be picked up. The Desk Clerk was told, in Spanish, that no cabs were available in my area! Since taxis aren't really about price, it's all about service. Central Cab is my go to taxi service while in South Beach. Whether it's getting a ride to my friend's apt to pre-party (and it normally is, at least once a week), or a taxi to the airport, Central Cab will be there for you. Points for: They answer the phone! Crazy, huh!? and if there is a "wait" for an operator, it'll usually be 45 seconds or less. clean cabs, nice enough drivers, driving skills are never scary! They get to my place fast! I call usually between 10:30 and 11 pm on a friday or sat night- primetime! - and they are always outside in 4 minutes... like clockwork! I just called to make a reservation for a dog friendly van to take me to the airport in 7 hours. "No problem, it'll be outside at 8:30AM". How often do you hear "no problem"? I've been loyally using Central Cab for the last few months and have yet to run into any of the usual gripes you'd find with a cab co. The drivers are often early, and always on time, the don't scoff at you when you request to use credit card (it sometimes helps if you mention your credit card usage when you call to request a taxi), and their driver's have been congenial thus far. Central Cab is my go-to cab company on the beach. If I call for a cab, they're at my door in under 5 minutes, which is awesome. Unfortunately, unlike some cab companies, they don't take your number and have the driver call you when they're outside, so you have to be on the lookout, but once you get used to that, Central Cab can't be beat. The drivers are always super-pleasant and very friendly. They'll take you wherever you want to go as fast as they can, without all the nonsense or out-of-the-way "short-cuts" you may get with other cab drivers. I live on Miami beach therefore have to call this company more than often to transport to work, airport, errands and more often than not, they're the flakiest most inconsiderable company I've ever dealt with. I mean multiple times of completely standing me up, saying a driver is on his way and him not showing up for an hour n a half later, to them NOT answering my calls to let me know the status of a cab (They have caller ID and screen their calls). I mean I've literally missed a flight because I asked for a cab at a specific time and he literally just never show up and of course their phone just ring and rings. The company is ran by a bunch of scum bags with no integrity and sense of running a good business especially with loyal customers. Oh and by the way... They will ALWAYS lie and say their credit card machine doesn't work, even had one make me to go the ATM to get cash. They are so rude to you simply because you don't have cash and will straight up ignore your business if you aren't paying cash. The company says that all drivers are supposed to take credit card but when you ask one of them, they make up excuses like "oh not going that direction" or "oh I don't have a credit card machine" The worst part about it is.... There aren't too many other options in Miami beach! It's pretty much this company or bust. However I did get in touch with "Miami Springs Taxi" and they were able to provide a taxi within 5 minutes to the airport. I'm a tough customer. =P Why They Deserve My Almighty Praise 1) They answered the phone within 2-3 rings. 2) They didn't do the answer-then-immediately-put-on-hold-for-10-minutes thing. That's cheating. 3) The gentleman who answered was incredibly friendly, polite, and didn't rush me at all. Touchy subject for me...central cab is THE cab to call while in South Beach and they will be as reliable and punctual according to how busy the city is. Nobody is perfect. Hands down my best taxi experience ever. I ordered a taxi for 7:30 the next morning, and although I was a bit concerned that the dispatcher didn't take my name or number, apparently they just take your number from the incoming call log. The driver called me at 7:20 to confirm he was on his way, and which entrance I would be at. When I got down to the lobby, he was already waiting for me outside the lobby because he had parked around the corner. The driver was incredibly friendly, and got me to the airport in record time (but I never felt unsafe - a very rare experience in a cab!) - the fare was only $20, and it's usually $30. OMG! So Rude! and poor poor poor service! No car coming on time as promised! i was waiting for car at scheduled time for go to Business meeting at Miami and it was nothing! Oct.6 12:25am I called (305) 532-5555 to dispatcher 1 hour after pick up time pass and ask about car, Lady says it is no car available and cut up the phone. Second and few times calls after the call was cut up also, after 6th time call lady was so rude and asked me did i drunk by rum or by something else if i calling again? (i don't really know what she mean) i say only i want to know is any cab coming up? And she just put me to hold and i listened music for 5 mins and call was cut up also... Horrible experience. They left us stranded in the middle of North Miami Beach. They insisted that they didn't have any cabs nearby and yet we saw several pass with the 5555 number on the side. This company deserves to go out of business! In general, Miami has some of the worst cabs...many only take cash...it's like being in the 1950s. To note, this happened to me last year, when I was living here for the winter, and I forgot to write a review, but now that I'm back this winter in Miami Beach, I wanted to tell people...don't use this cab company! I pre-booked a cab from north bay village to go to Fort Lauderdale airport, since I was leaving early in the morning. The booker was incredibly rude and the cab driver stole my credit card number! How do I know it was the cab driver, you ask? The cab driver wouldn't give me a receipt, when we reached the airport, and said that they don't give credit card receipts, which he must have thought that I was a tourist. I told him that I fly several times a month and use Central Cab constantly, and knew that they did give receipts. He proceeded to argue with me then told me to get out of the cab, which I never received a credit card receipt. I realized later why he didn't want me to get my receipt, is because I would be able to trace, who my driver was. Later that day, when I was reviewing my account online, I saw several charges for hundreds of dollars pending on my credit card for online shopping, which I knew was fraud immediately, since that credit card is my business card and is only used for business travel. Save yourself aggravation by using anyone else, such as Lyft, Uber, or literally anyone else, besides Central Cab. read more

Ever since the first recommendation I use them time and time again with reliable results. The phone operators are warm, friendly and thank you for your business. Their cabs also take credit cards (something I am used to being from Chicago). The night before an early flight I call ahead of time and the cab is waiting downstairs in the early morning. Not reliable!!! I called 4 times for a cab to pick me up. I even hailed one their vans that CLEARLY accepts credit cards, and the driver just told me "no." I asked them to send me a cab that accepts credit cards and that SAME Central Cab van came, recognized me and drove right by me. Maybe they like cash? Other days the drivers are ok but still act like they're going out their way to accept YOUR credit card. I see the process, it takes less than 10 seconds to just swipe the card. My daughter and I were in South Beach for the Christmas holiday, and found out about a wildlife refuge near the zoo. We hailed a cab on Collins Avenue near our hotel and the driver took us on a 45 minute ride to the location.
