While my child had some excellent teachers throughout the years, there were some glaring…read moreshortcomings. Firstly, they missed the fact that the child has dyslexia; instead citing general learning disabilities and were contemplating holding her back a grade. Fortunately, we had her tested privately and then pushed the school district to make accommodations. She was discovered to be twice exceptional: gifted I.Q. with dyslexia. But, the real impetus for this review was her sixth grade teacher. Here are examples of some of the things that were said (many repeatedly) in the classroom: "Don't talk to me. My alligators are out." "I am so done with all of you. Figure it out yourselves." "You were so bad yesterday that I almost called in sick today." "It's silly to believe in God." "No American should be allowed to own a gun." The teacher unleashed her scorn upon the classes in general, while seemingly targeting certain students for the worst of her wrath (generally boys). I could write a novel based on instances with this "teacher". But, the bottom line is that my child went from being someone who loved school to dreading every single day with this person.

The teacher is known for getting away with bullying the kids. My daughter went to asked her for something for another teacher and she embarrassed my daughter and made her apologize to her class for what another teacher asked her to do. On top of that she told students in her class that my daughter might not make it to the 8th grade after she left and my daughter has not even had this teacher ever and doesn't know her. fyi my daughter is on honor roll. also told her boyfriend that was in her class to find another girlfriend. All for this one incident of my daughter asking her a question for a teacher. (If she has volleyball from Saturday school) I'm beyond livid and hearing all the other reports on her of making kids do things that make them uncomfortable for her comfort of embarrassing them. I like this school but then keeping teachers like this just shows what else can be slowly uncovering. Honestly taking a lot out of me to not approach the situation accordingly. I was always teaching my daughter no bullying and be kind but my least worry should be a teacher. Gonna take this further up to see if all the incident reports can be dealt with accordingly.

My daughter attended ALA since 2021 after relocating to Pinal county I must say this has been the worst school experience. I strongly agree with the other review someone posted stating this school is ran like a business. 1st communication is HORRIBLE. Last school year was the icing on the cake. My daughter's class went through 3 different 5th grade teachers. Students behaviors were out of control and a lot of the students regressed academically. When they finally got teacher #3 mid year it was difficult to communicate with her. I sometimes copied the principal and assistant principal on my emails to her and still sometimes NO ONE would respond not even the principals. There were incidents that would happen involving my daughter and another student and I would receive no notification about it until my daughter told me. This other student my daughter had a number of incidents with and this student didn't only have issues with my daughter she had issues with a number of other students in the class but the school never did their part to remove the problem student. Another thing I've noticed is the teachers my daughter had over the years are parents of multiple children of their own who don't seem to have a lot of time for anything else outside of their teaching hours. One time I had a teacher rush through an after school phone conference because she had to take her child somewhere. One teacher had really bad attendance due to always having sick children, one teacher told me she couldn't do ANY conferences after her working hours ended at 3:30pm. Just no flexibility for being a full time working parent myself. Their testing methods here have changed recently and it's a very inconvenient process now. All tests and quizzes are done on Chromebooks in class so once a test is completed my daughter never got to see it graded to know what topics she wasn't grasping or where she needed to improve. They just got a grade. I was told there is no way to get testing results. Another example of this place being ran like a business without the parents or students in mind. Another thing is I have NEVER known a school to investigate an incident, interrogate and discipline a child THEN notify the parents after everything is said and done (IF/when they decide to notify you). My husband has tried to arrange time to come to the school to speak with all parties involved after a incident and see camera footage but apparently they don't allow that and any time you want to come in to speak with the principal about anything you have to schedule a appointment. Again sounds like a business My daughter has described some horrible school lunches from here and she is not a picky eater. Don't rely on the lunch menu calendar either because it's a 50% chance they'll serve something different or run out of what they were supposed to serve. No veggie options either. The after school program sucks. It's just as dysfunctional and ghetto trying to get in the building after hours with no one answering the door. Very little supervision, no structure. As a result we decided to move my daughter to ride the bus after school. I will say the bus driver staffing has gotten a lot better over the last school year but just know there are times you will receive a text notification stating your child's bus route is canceled for the day if there is no sub driver available. School events are chaotic and dysfunctional. This is a small campus with an overcrowded amount of kids so overcrowded that the entire 6th grade has moved to the high school. (My daughter's class had between 30-35 students). Every event is over crowded with no type of organization as to what's going on. Oh and by the way it is out of their dress code violation for any male student to have long hair which I find very sexiest and a form of discrimination.. so glad my son won't have to go through this!

This testing facility was great. The latter, I believe, is extremely helpful in a test taking environment. The testing center also houses exams for insurance licensing, real estate licensing, and the boards for dentistry. I am sure they administer more, but of the total 7 people that were in and out of the facility during my exam, those are the three that various people were taking. 3 of the 7 people were taking the MCAT with me. The plaza where the testing center is found is beautiful and there are many places to eat close by for a quick, light meal before an exam, or a nice heavy meal to celebrate after. I had to drive from Tucson to go to this facility and am glad that I did. I highly, highly recommend that if you take one of these administered exams, you drive a little out of your way to Casa Grande for the best test taking environment you can ask for.

Listen, this is a hidden little gem in the test-taking world. Everyone knows how stressful and…read morecrazy standardized testing can be, and it only gets crazier when more people are piled in the room like sardines. I took my MCAT here in 2010, and was one of 3 people in the room testing at that time....the room was empty! Three people meant less distraction from others moving, getting up/getting down, going in/going out of the room, getting set up, etc. There was absolutely no hassle re-checking in after breaks, no lines, nothing. It really lessened the stress of the whole ordeal! (I've taken exams at centers where there were three or four people waiting to check back into the room during breaks...and when time is limited...*Nail biting!*) There are hotels all around if you wish to spend the night before hand, and all kinds of great restaurants to get yo' eat on afterwards. I will gladly make the journey from Tucson to take my exams here in the future!
