If you rely on professionals to help you navigate confusing home repairs, like myself, these aren't your guys. I think this situation came down to a lack of communication that unfortunately left me in a difficult position. Like many homeowners, I rely on professionals to explain the scope of work in plain terms. I think that's a reasonable expectation. Adam is correct with my quote below but he left out the part where I explained that my issue was solely that I didn't know the built-ins were being removed. This was never clearly communicated to me, nor was I given the opportunity to remove them properly myself. Because of that, I feel my ability to make informed decisions was taken away. I only reached out to Adam directly later, after another contractor told me the closet could have been saved and that the removal was "unnecessarily destructive." Whether that's true or not, I'll never know. because I wasn't given the chance to find out. To clarify, the note about the built-ins wasn't hidden in "fine print," but it was only mentioned once in the "Other Notes" section. It was never discussed verbally, by email, or over the phone, and it wasn't included in the detailed action items. I don't think a single mention buried in a notes section qualifies as meaningful disclosure, especially when no one pointed it out or explained its implications. Perhaps Adam does. Lastly, the other points raised, like the quality of the closet materials, water damage, or insurance support, are not relevant to my concern. They confirmed with their moisture sensor what we already suspected - that the carpet had dried out already, but was continuing to harbor mold, so we needed to finish ripping it out, which we had started ourselves. They recommended a cleaning product, and since we were already doing the work ourselves, waived the inspection fee and went on to their next customer. More detail: After reading reviews and reaching out in the beginning, I heard back from Daryl virtually immediately, and he was very helpful in determining next steps. I appreciated that he rightly focused on evaluating the recurring flooding and mold growth by encouraging me to firstly address the root of the issue, otherwise any work done regarding mold would merely be temporary. So, after "Tetris-ing" some other needed steps to fall into place, I reached back out and the process began. Vance came out to my home and did his initial evaluation, and while I had let the situation get out of hand and was visibly struggling with dealing with the situation, he noticed this and was both realistic and reassuring in his interactions with me. This was a common theme throughout, and after multiple days of mold remediation and removal, I was thoroughly impressed with how Vance, Manny, and co. were in every aspect of this project. This applies to their efficacy in completing the job effectively, which is not a walk in the park, as well as in their ability to communicate as noted above. (With regard to value: I honestly don't get tons of quotes for this kind of thing as a pastime, so I don't have much to compare it to. The cleanup crew was out within 24 hours and had the issue mitigated. Vance was awesome and very friendly. The crew to fix the damage was out the start of the next week and repaired the same day (I forgot the gentleman's name but also very friendly).. A few weeks later a neighbors fridge water line failed causing water to leak into my kitchen. I called the same team who fixed my bathroom, this time they were out within 3 hours to assess damage. The next day a crew was out to mitigate, with repair morning after. When you have to do this work it's very stressful, especially when you lose part of your kitchen for a time. But the RRR crew was great to work with, patient with my questions, and accommodating to requests (including wearing masks as I had a 2-week old newborn at home). I've used another service (CWF) and did not have the same experience at all.

Unfortunately, they missed some mold, and I had to call them back to cut out more drywall. This was a big disappointment. I don't understand how it was missed. The missed mold was right up to the edge of the drywall, meaning the drywall they cut out would also have mold right up to the edge, and they are supposed to remove one foot past where the mold ends. I found it when I was putting insulation back in, and I could have easily missed it myself which could have led to the mold continuing to grow and having another big problem later.  Also, I was given a work authorization to sign, but with no written breakdown of what the work would actually entail: which parts of the house, the process to remove the mold, etc. I had to request this. All other mold mitigation companies I contacted gave me a quote with a very detailed written breakdown of the work to be performed. If you go with them, make sure you ask for the details of the work to be performed in writing and don't settle for just a verbal explanation of what they will do.

So I was just left to scramble on my own and I am still attempting to find someone to finish putting my basement all back together and it has literally been over 4 months now. Live and learn I guess. I would have been better off renting a commercial shop vac and dehumidifiers and done it all myself and saved myself from being dropped by my insurance company. So very disappointing.

I had questions, and I was able to say what I wanted done (eg. I didn't want the air purification for $1000 since my HVAC system has an air purification system in it that takes care of mold spores or the wall paint to protect from mold for $200 since I am already on a list to have my basement waterproofed in a month, and the walls are going to be dealt with). They were amenable to the changes. They were able to schedule me for the next day and do the work. They provided me with updates of the project. They took out more drywall than anticipated, but that's fine. I'll refinish the basement later. Garrett and Justin were both helpful. I recommend them. They listened, they were prompt, and I feel after talking with others in similar situations, the price was fair. They also did not demand insurance. I paid upfront.
