The architecture in this place is beautiful, although kinda funky too with it's bright colors. The first time I walked in, I literally was amazed. It feels like a "big league" playhouse, yet it is small and quaint at the same time. Seats are very comfortable with legroom and not a lot of "pardon me, 'scuse me" issues since it is laid out with short rows. I've literally sat in the vey back row of the main level and was able to see and hear perfectly! Kudos for the acoustics. The temperature in the auditorium is also comfortable; not too hot, not too cold. A wide variety of performers at the Shannon Center! Plays, musicals, entertainers, all music genres! Check out the Hawaiian series too. Need something artsy and entertaining to do? Check out their website and see all the upcoming acts.... you may just have your next date planned! While, yes, I am a biased and proud aunt of the female lead, I was still able to cast my biases aside and review the venue as a whole. That said, my niece rules, my niece rules,my niece rules. First off, the parking was super convenient, free, and located on the same lot and block as the theatre. The ticket prices were fair, as they went for $15 bucks a pop. Not too shabby for 2 hours of live entertainment all while supporting the college theatre department. The theatre was on the larger end of the small side. I'm not too sure if there's a larger stage, but the one that we were in seemed to suit the play nicely. I enjoyed that aspect because I really got to appreciate the nuances of each performance, attention to detail, and engage in the communal aspect of being part of a live audience. Good stuff. Oh yeah, the restrooms were also pretty big. On the downside, I wish there would've been more variety at the snack bar during intermission. Not a big deal. Go eat after the performance at one of the many local restaurants nearby. Also, the seats were padded chairs, so be sure to shift your position after some time. Overall, loved it! It's a shame I hadn't attended any previous productions, but rest assured that I'll be returning for more. Support the kids, support the arts!

You can also drive by East Whittier Middle School which was Jacob Bailey High School in the movie. Back to the Future Mill Valley High School was filmed @ Whittier High School on 12417 Philadelphia St. King Richard's Antiques is one of the largest antique shops in California. Also check out Nixon Plaza - Richard Nixon's Law Office was located here in a historic 100 year old building that has now been transformed into a Food Hall There are multiple restaurants with a Large Indoor & Outdoor Dining Area. You can grab something to eat & a brew @ Whittier Brewing Company in the Food Hall. Also check out the Whittier Village Cinema. It is a small beautifully restored Art Deco Movie Theater that was originally called The Wardman Theater which was built in 1932. The Architecture, the Tile & the Lights are really beautiful. It is located in the Uptown Section of Whittier that has lots of nostalgic charm & charisma. Also check out some of the other restaurants & breweries in the area too. So Much Fun in Whittier! My dancer is going into her 3rd year with them and I continue to be impressed with the talent of the teachers. I don't have a dance background, but from what I can see the curriculum is thoughtfully planned so that the students have a solid foundation in movement which is built on as they get into more complicated choreography. I'm really happy with my daughter's progress as a little ballerina. The prices here are the most reasonable in the area, especially considering the high caliber of teachers on staff (I looked into the other studios in town before deciding on Dance Image). Also, the owner is great! She is super nice and always keeps in mind what is best for the kids while respecting families and students. It's a wonderful studio with integrity and caring for all of their students.  Their attention to detail in classes and recital (highly recommend!) is impressive. Some words of advice: show up on time, wear the appropriate 'uniform' (each level has its own dancewear requirements) and make sure the bun is clean and tight. Feels like there's a money grab whenever possible. Strict dressing rules for the younger kids was off putting but tolerable. The worst part is the teacher we had. I can't speak to how other teachers were but Jessica was not a good one. She consistently didn't help correct students on proper movement and provided little instruction. It was like she was robotically gliding through the classes and the children would get confused or bored. I doubt any kid learned a thing about dancing in that class. Only good thing I liked was that my daughter found it ok to be on her own without me in a class setting which will help her feel more independent when it comes to school time. Another scary thing are the stairs to go into the studio. The hand rails have huge gaps that people, especially kids, can easily fall through.

Music was blasting throughout the festival, creating a fun atmosphere, but be prepared for long lines for both ordering and food pickup. Most vendors were cashless and accepted credit cards, Zelle, or Venmo, although some did take cash. A few vendors even made the long trek down from the Bay Area. The biggest challenge was definitely the heat. It was a hot day, and the event could have used more shaded areas. Lots of people gathered around the tables to cool off, while others were there to actually eat. The food was okay overall, but I'm hoping to try the BBQ next time around. My favorite was the Mango Crumble halo-halo from D Baker's Lab--definitely worth trying! Prices can add up quickly, so I'd recommend going with friends and sharing dishes. That way, you can sample more without spending a small fortune. Heads up: the sticky rice line was REALLY long. If you're driving, bring a cooler with plenty of water. You'll save money on drinks and, more importantly, stay hydrated while you're out in the heat. Overall, a fun free event with plenty of food, shopping, music, and mango-filled treats. Just come prepared for the heat and the lines!

She makes sure we're progressing and pushes her students to do their best, but she's also very sweet and funny and her classes are always fun to take. The girls here are also very nice and welcoming to new people. This studios great for anyone that wants to dance and perform but doesn't want to deal with crazy practices and competitions, we're performing nutcracker in December! The studio also has classes for 3 year olds too adults and offers ballet, tap, hip hop, contemporary and jazz.

More recently, we enjoyed "Frozen" and "Come From Away" and are excited for many of the upcoming shows for the season! The production quality for this mid-size theatre is excellent! The theatre is not huge, but there are many seats to fill. We have sat in rows Q, R, and S, and the views are still great! Seats are relatively comfortable and easy to find as well. Show prices will vary on where you sit, but it does feel intimate enough to connect with the actors wherever you sit. Even though we live nowhere near the area, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts has become one of our favourites. Additionally , the parking lot is huge due to the many businesses in this plaza, and we've always been able to park relatively near the theater. Plenty of food options here, too! We will gladly drive the extra miles to support the arts and enjoy musical theatre in La Mirada!

From beginning to end, the experience exceeded our expectations. A special thank you to Jackie for helping us with the initial planning and making everything come together, and to Casey for assisting us on the day of the event and creating such a beautiful setup. Everything looked amazing! Chef Mike did an incredible job with the food! Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was. And of course, Ivan, our bartender, kept the drinks flowing smoothly all night long with excellent service. Our family and guests had a wonderful time, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special milestone in our mother's life. Alohi's is ran mostly by a close knit, family-like group of people. There are several dance instructors for various styles of dancing, including Polynesian, jazz, hip hop, and Zumba. The instructors are kind and friendly, and class availability is offered six times a week. They perform all around OC and LA, including at many charity events. The studio itself has plentiful space to dance, and sufficient seating to watch your kids/significant other/whatever. If all the couches happen to be full, then there's more of an excuse to join in the dancing! Every single student (dancers/performers) I've become acquainted with have been kind and friendly. There is virtually no drama, and the aura is quite passive. The instructors stress perfection and may come across as strict at times, but that's normal for any passionate teacher. Having no basis for comparison, Alohi's isn't perfect; no person is; no studio is. However I do believe this is a fantastic environment to be in to learn/improve on whatever dance you're interested in. I really enjoy being surrounded by the people encompassing this studio, and I encourage whoever is reading this to cultivate their curiosity by stopping by this studio. I don't think you'll regret it!
