They have audience people on stage whom they interact with, which was pretty rad. It was pretty entertaining all in all. The theater was pretty good. They have a small concession stand with some drinks and snacks. The sounds was pretty decent. They definitely need to get another bathroom in there though and maybe update the seating area.

We bought tickets for the youth production of Anastasia and dear lord, it was SO FREAKING GOOD. We both cried. The kids were freaking phenomenal! The design, costume, and talent was 10/10! We were so impressed with their passion, cohesive change of set, and from the littlest actors to the seasoned stars - they all absolutely rocked it. The theatre seats were comfy and the temperature was comfortable without needing a jacket. No photos/video are allowed during the production and everyone was respectful and followed the rules, which made for fully immersing in the performance. There were light refreshments available at intermission (chips, candy, waters, beer/wine). We caught the matinee and it finished just in time to catch happy hour at 333. We'll be back again!! If you're thinking about going, do it! The Star is celebrating its 70th this year, so a perfect time to join the fun!

Do they plan to leave the theater doors open throughout the entire performance? This is definitely very different from Carnegie Hall... I should have known better. Back in September, I coordinated a group of almost 20 guests to attend "Trouble Man: feat. l Young" on October 4th. On the 1st, I tried to add more guests to our party but the event was no longer listed on their website. On October 2nd, we were provided unfortunate news that our show on October 4th had been cancelled as one of the female vocalists coming from out of town had caught pneumonia, and that sales of that particular show with 3 days to go were extremely low. But Margi was very communicative, and had processed our refunds in a timely manner, and was an absolute pleasure to deal with when I spoke with her to purchase our group tickets. I would patronize OTC again without hesitation, and look forward to seeing a future performance there. Kudos to OTC for amazing box office staff!

I can't speak to the quality of the adult productions, but as the parent of a child actively…read moreinvolved in San Diego community youth theater, I personally would not feel comfortable having my child perform here. I have significant concerns about the judgment and oversight surrounding youth productions, particularly when minors are cast opposite adults as romantic interests. I have also heard troubling accounts from members of the local theater community regarding how some young performers have been treated with little to no respect. Most concerning to me was a recent production that drew significant criticism over what many felt were inappropriate boundaries involving an adult and a minor in the cast. My understanding is that the directors involved were subsequently removed from the production following its closing dates. I was troubled that the circumstances were able to progress as far as they did before action was taken. When a theater works with children, I believe the owners and leadership have an especially important responsibility to know what is happening in productions operating under their name and to establish clear safeguards and boundaries for minors. In my opinion, the oversight in this situation fell far short of what I would expect from an organization entrusted with young performers. I sincerely hope the concerns raised by parents and members of the theater community lead to meaningful changes. Youth theater can be an incredible experience, but the well-being and safety of the children involved has to come before any production.

Staff and fellow guests were friendly. Lots of people helped us with directions around the theater. We parked in South Lot. Short paved walk to entrance. Note: Fixed chair seats have numbers on the seat. Grass reserved seats have the numbers on the ground. Lots of folks were initially confused. Ask the staff if you lost, they are very helpful. Lots of people brought their own food (some with full on dinners and dessert). You can buy food there also. We had lots of fun. We'll definitely come back and see other shows. Fun, fun, fun, and laughs.

Avo Playhouse is a repurposed movie theatre in Vista...a very cool revitalized area with quite a few restaurants and at least 3 breweries within just a couple blocks. We saw the Beatles tribute band "Ticket to Ride". Our tickets were reasonably priced and the venue is small enough (seating for under 400) that there really aren't any bad seats. As a bonus, I was really happy that the bathrooms were large and clean. Only real disappointment was that there were no refreshments. It would be nice to have something simple, maybe just water, coffee, and tea? Definitely worth going back! BTW there's lots of free parking nearby.

There's a spacious lobby with a bar, although they only had one person on the bar and it was slow going. At the box office (inside) they just asked for our name and didn't bother seeing the tix on my phone. Staff were friendly. The theater itself is small. They allow drinks in that you've purchased there. (No food, although I watched one woman open a bag of crackers). The usher sent us to the wrong row, causing confusion and the letters on the end of the rows weren't obvious. There are several bathrooms, including a couple of non-gender ones. Free parking can be found at the train station behind the theater. The play we saw, 'Matt and Ben' was not great. I give it 2/5. The cast wasn't what I was expecting and it wasn't that funny, they dropped f-bombs all the time and I was ready for it to end after about 15 minutes.

Neither of us had any dance experience besides dropping it low at the club back in the day ( elder millennials ) so this was nerve wracking for us at first. We found McCann dance via another yelp review and booked the intro lesson on a whim. We ended up with Elisa McCann who happens to be an INCREDIBLE professional dancer and a fantastic teacher!! We had 7 weeks to get a dance locked in. Well, that we did. We met with her once a week up until our wedding and she customized choreography for us, pushed us out of our comfort zone just enough to WOW the crowd, but made sure the moves were things we were physically capable of doing. Every week we showed up to our lesson happy to share that we'd been practicing. I want to shout from the rooftop that this studio is incredible and I LOVED our custom wedding dance!!! Do it. Do it. Do it. Seriously, if you're debating doing it. DO IT!!!! Best decision ever!!!!
