I miss the food they used to serve too. That is what made it fun for us. Now the people staying there in the hotel with you are snobs. And won't even chat at breakfast. No complaints against the room itself except the price and did not get the experience we used to. Sorry I might not go back. Previous owners I miss you! I expect that the conference rooms would be solid options to host meetings, if you work remotely or simply want a change in venue from your office, but the main atrium/front room provides a welcoming environment for a mix-and-mingle cocktail reception. We were able to arrange some tables for food, a self-serve bar, photo "booth" area, and both low chairs and high top tables for a variety of ways to connect. The double front doors provided an easy entry, with plenty of natural light, and we appreciated the private kitchenette area and separate individual bathrooms. Plenty of working spaces in the back of the building and convenient to post-party drinks and dining options. It was nice having a gas station around the corner for extra ice and the co-op next door to get extra drinks. Brad was great with getting us set on our own with the space. I highly recommend considering the Roanoke CoLab for your next small event or also to use during the working hours.

Nancy and Al were nice and very easy to get in touch with. The venue is basically a DIY since it only comes with tables and chairs, but you do get access for the entire weekend (Fri-Sun). Our only issue was that we wanted our reception to go late and at first we were told there wouldn't be a problem with that, but two weeks before the wedding Al told us we would have to hire security guards for the event. Not a huge problem but it didn't come at a great time since we were in crunch time.

We knew we were going to have 200+ guest so we needed a big enough place to accommodate them comfortably with plenty of room. The plan was for an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The view from the venue was breathtaking and they fell in love with it right away. The price was good considering all that was included. All the tables, all the chairs - inside and outside, great open kitchen, two nice size bathrooms, nice size dance floor and also lights for the dance floor. A week before the wedding... it started to rain! Flash flood warnings all week long! The weather man said a few time, "Tropical rain like storms!" The stress started and worry set in! The day before the wedding we arrived at the wedding to set up. The whole way there it was pouring, roads had washed out in several places along with way. At this point we started to accept that plan B was now the plan! We set the bridal party up for the ceremony on the back patio with chairs for family and guest on both sides. We opened "the wall" that had full sliding doors and we arranged the chairs from there all the way to the dance floor. It gave the outside feel while all of our guest were cool and dry! It wouldn't have turned out better! Once the wedding was over the guest went to their tables for dinner while the wedding crew picked up the chairs to get them out of the way. Many guest thought that this was how it was planned all along! It was a perfect venue! There are a few things that I would like to see have a little attention too. Not a complaint at all but do feel it would be a nice improvement. 1) The curtains in the bathroom would be nice to have longer. They covered all they needed to but it was made many feel very uncomfortable. 2) A fan in the dressing areas. It got rather warm in there after keeping the bride in there most of the day. With 8 people trying to get ready with hair dryers, curling irons, etc it would have been nice to have a fan to blow on the bride at least. The A/C could not keep up with all of us hot women in one room! Hahaha 3) Please add a few more brooms and dust mops to the cleanup supplies. We could only find one regular broom and one dust mop. That is a very large room for just two. 4) Parking. Parking would have been fine for dry weather but in the rain many came in with wet and dirty shoes. I think if you could just rock that whole area it would be much nicer on the guest Other then that it was fantastic and we are very pleased with everything. I would highly recommend this venue and would consider using it again!

The ceremony view of the amazing Virginia countryside with pond, hills and the changing fall trees was an amazing backdrop. With two sides enclosed, a fireplace and heaters the late night venue was cozy but yet open air (which can be important when pandemics threaten events). Melba made the event so easy for planning. Erica, the bartender, kept all our guests happy. The site has plenty of ice for all bartending needs, a kitchen for food setup and three eclectic bathrooms. We would highly recommend The Pavilion at Blackwater Junction for any event needs!!
