I stopped attending the studio February 2020. In August, I received a call from a collections agency stating I owed $360 to this studio, even though I hadn't attended classes all year and did not authorize any membership renewals. I reached out via email and phone repeatedly to Pure Barre to discuss, but received no communication. I was worried about the charge affecting my credit score, so I paid it and thought that would be the end. Several months later, I receive another call from the same collections agency, this time for a charge of $419 for Pure Barre. Again, I called and emailed repeatedly, even emailing/calling the corporate headquarters, but received no communication from Pure Barre regarding this charge. I paid the collection because I'm worried about the impact on my credit score, but reached out to Pure Barre to request a refund. I haven't attended class since February 2020 and received zero communication from Pure Barre but yet I owed collections over $700 !?!? This is inexcusable to me and I still haven't received a refund. I understand covid has been tough for fitness studios, but by conducting their business this way, Pure Detroit/Birmingham has lost a customer (and I'm sure I'm not the only one).

Exceptional Yoga Studio with Amazing Instructors!…read more I first experienced yoga in the 1960s and 1970s in NYC when it was viewed as a unique and transformative experience. In those days, I recall it being more spiritually oriented. For many, including me, practicing yoga back then was to embrace the hippie movement, the pursuit of peace, love, and expanded consciousness. I recall doing yoga in parks, communes, and spiritual retreats. Fast speed ahead 50 years. From the moment I stepped into Community Yoga Studio (CYS), I knew I had found something special. The space is serene, welcoming, and perfectly designed for deepening both physical practice and mindfulness. A huge highlight of my experience has been Sam--a phenomenal instructor. Sam's guidance is both encouraging and insightful, making every class feel accessible yet challenging in all the right ways. Her ability to create a positive, uplifting atmosphere make each session truly exceptional. Whether you're new to yoga or have been practicing for years, Sam has a way of making everyone feel seen, supported, and inspired. Beyond the incredible instruction, the studio itself is spotless, well-equipped, and offers a great variety of classes to fit every mood and level. The sense of community here is wonderful, and I always leave feeling refreshed, recharged, and grateful. If you're looking for a yoga studio where you'll feel truly welcomed and supported, CYS--and especially Sam--is the perfect choice. Highly recommend!

Upon going there and learning that its actually not free I decided it was a scam and left it at that. This place has not only been spamming me for over a month now but they are extremely rude when I have been asked to be removed from their list insinuating that I am unmotivated and not conscious about my overall health. I exaggerate only slightly. When I decided that enough was enough, I gave this studio a call. They just opened in March '08 - since it's so new, I was able to snag a package discount (10%) and get to work out in relative peace with my trainer. The space is new, wide-open and minimalistic, with all of the newest gadgets that usually intimidate the hell out of me. I don't really do bigger gyms at all and have worked with a personal trainer before, so I was happy to find one close to home. There are a few trainers on staff right now. I have been working with Brad, who seriously kicks (my) ass. The workouts have been tough for this little marshmallow, but I feel so great after just about a month of sessions and can definitely perceive a difference. He is certified and has a background in sports med (kinesiology? I haven't gotten into it) so he has a physiologic approach to my workouts that I appreciate. I've seen the other patrons getting their butts kicked by the other trainer there, too. Yeah, it's spendy. It's a commitment. It's worth it to me, because I am just not one of those people who enjoys the gym or is self-motivated enough to even get there. And it works! Activity always does...
