I love the variety of classes that they offer and that each teacher has their own unique spin. Also, it's super handy that all of the metro detroit locations are under one umbrella which allows me to have even more options as I tend to split my time between Royal Oak and Birmingham's locations. Would highly recommend checking it out especially with their amazing new member deal of 3 free classes!

Updated Review: I've always been a loyal member to every…read morefitness studio I've joined, and I came in with the same expectations here. To be fair, I'm leaving two stars only because of Arsharel and Nichol -- they are truly amazing instructors who deserve to be teaching at an original Lagree studio, not in this environment. Unfortunately, the trust I once had in this studio was broken. After many of us paid upfront for a full year membership, the owner, Judy, suddenly shifted direction: hiring inexperienced, non-certified trainers, opening a new location, and purchasing copycat machines instead of authentic Lagree equipment. Yes, you read that right -- fake Lagree machines, which are not only unsafe but also disrespectful to long-time clients who believed in the original method and trusted her leadership. The studio also rebranded from "Lagree" to "Modern Pilates," which might be fine for newcomers, but as an original client, I signed up and invested in authentic Lagree training -- not this. There's nothing wrong with Pilates in general, but the issue is the bait-and-switch: we trusted we were paying for true Lagree, with certified trainers and proper equipment. As someone who has always supported and respected my studios, I had no choice but to cancel my membership. It's disappointing to see a place I once believed in lose its integrity. If you're interested in real Lagree, I encourage you to check Sebastian Lagree's page (@lagreefitness) for more details on the differences.

Parking on a Saturday morning in Ferndale was shockingly not hard to find, you just have to pay unfortunately. It's not crazy expensive though. The entrance to push pilates is through the back of the building; I only found this out because I followed other people. Everything was already laid out and clean. The instructor checked everybody in individually as they walked in. The HIIT Pilates class was amazingly tough and satisfying. I enjoyed the music and instructor. The only thing I didn't like was a kid younger than 10 being there, and so many late people coming in messing up the flow. The instructor had to keep bringing out more mats and equipment when class already started. So she ended up putting the kiddo on the couch in the back so the late people could have a spot. Not sure if that normally happens but it was definitely a distraction to her and us. I understand 10 minutes being late, maybe even 15 minutes, but after that, I think there needs to be some sort of limitations

I still haven't taken a class here, so I can't give 5 stars...but the effort to be neighborly deserves recognition. Disrespectful to the neighbors. I, along with others have had to put in several noise complaints. The landlord is taking action for the noise level rendering him unable to rent out his residences. The dance studio that was marketed to the landlord as a yoga studio, is small enough that the music volume can be controlled, however, the owner jacks the music up and wears a completely unnecessary headset all of which is entirely disruptive to the neighbors. Rude when approached. Overall terrible for the neighborhood. Don't recommend supporting.

Blink and you'll miss it - the sign is small and in the window front. It's not a huge place, and most of their space extends the long way back through the building, leaving the actual storefront you see on the street rather narrow and small. When you walk inside, you see the super cool, urban loft style to the studio - one large room with gleaming hardwood floor, exposed brick wall, and Detroit artwork hung about. They offer group classes and personal training sessions only, so this is not your standard "drop in and work out on your own" gym. The schedule has regular spin, zumba, pilates, and yoga classes, and personal training sessions can be scheduled by appointment. Classes are reasonably priced, you must schedule and reserve ahead (no drop ins) because the place is small and they don't want to overbook. But, the scheduling system is online, very simple, and allows you to add in or cancel nearly right up until the class start time. Every class I've gone to was a hit - energetic and helpful instructors and good music! The clientele tends to be lots of young professionals who live nearby in Corktown, Midtown, downtown, etc. and everyone is very friendly. All levels of fitness welcome. I only wish True Body would add a few more varieties of classes to their schedule (kickboxing, please!!!) and maybe some more Saturday day times, so I could go more often. Check the website for a $5 class deal for first timers, and also their month unlimited packages.

Go online and sign up with their class scheduler, and if you've ever taken any class at one of these boutique gyms then you're already familiar with the Mind Body Connect platform. Add the "one week free" item to your cart and sign up for classes. DONE. I walked in that same day for a 90min spin class. No calls or questions when I stopped going. Some might prefer more attention, which I get, but I was thrilled with their hands off approach. Totally friendly, worth checking out. For you spinners out there, they have a series of classes that work towards riding a full century. I'm definitely going to check that out when it comes around again.

The trainer was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He demonstrated all movements in a way that was easy to understand and he was patient with members when they had questions. All the members were warm and welcoming. The structure of the class was clever. We did some interval warm-ups, which had twenty-five seconds of work and twenty seconds of rest. The movements included mountain climbers, bird dogs, plank holds, push-ups, and other movements. Then we did five pull-ups and ten tricep over the head extensions. Then we did some mobility work-things like lunges, cossack squats, hip rotations, and arm rotations. After that, we did bench presses with a pause at the bottom and single-arm dumbbell bent-over rows. Then we did hip thrusters and farmer carry's and we finished the workout with some barbell bicep curls, some high band side steps and some sled pushes. My muscles were definitely feeling the burn at an increasing rate as the class went on. If I had to nitpick then I would say that there wasn't enough time to complete all of the movements and the gym is small. I imagine the gym would feel crowded if there were more than five people attending a class. When we got to "event #3," which included the barbell bicep curls, high band side steps, and sled pushes, we were given only seven minutes to complete it. Because it's important to stretch at the end of a workout, I respected the time cap on this section. But, I think there should have been a time cap on all three events. That would have prevented us from feeling rushed at the end. Go check this place out! I would like to come back and try one of their kettlebell classes.

Initial impressions just trying to find the place and walking in were not what I was expecting. If you are used to walking into a Lifetime Fitness with tons of equipment, throw that idea away. Michigan Kettlebells is tucked into a small commercial and storage complex. Once you walk in, you will see this is a large renovated garage and sets the mood for the workouts to come. You will learn to love it. There is a wide variety of people who attend. Classes generally have 10-15 people in them and have a 60/40 mix of men to women. Age ranges from ~16 - 60 years old across many different skill levels from beginners to marathon runners. Everyone is very supportive and a great crowd to workout with. The workouts are different every single day I have attended, but maintain the core principal to increase general strength and fitness. This is done through Kettlebell training in additional to raw,"backyard" type of workouts such as tractor tire flipping, sand bag lifting, push ups, pull ups and everything in between. Craig, the primary instructor, is very knowledgeable and an overall great guy. His wife, Dawn, holds female only boot camp classes on Sunday which my wife attends. She is loving those as well. A third trainer Derek, is another great asset to the gym. All I can say is do yourself a favor and check this out, I am happy I did.

I am not new to Pilates and the owner was relentless in trying to gaslight me into buying a package for private sessions, which I cannot afford. The owner doesn't know to conduct herself ethically, and they repeatedly over charged my credit card to the point where I had to report them to my credit card company as fraud and had to cancel the card they had on file for me. The owner is a raving lunatic and so abusive. She yells at and demeans her staff in front of clients. It's no wonder there's such a high turn over with instructors, and anyone good instructor ends up quitting. The owner is socially inappropriate, she talks down to and is condescending to clients, she over shares intimate details of her dysfunctional personal life with clients, she has zero personal and professional boundaries, and clearly has a problem with alcohol. She's beyond inappropriate with clients, and has a history of engaging in sexual relationships with married male clients and when caught, then cries that she's a victim of sexual assault. She is mentally unstable! She has instructors who just became certified running her teacher training, which is beyond inappropriate. With so many Pilates studios in Metro Detroit, do yourself a favor and avoid this awful place like the plague. You'll thank me later!
